The Ky State AAU Tournament is this weekend. Who's playing in it? Who's the favorite in each age group? Who's the sleeper?

Zack had a nice game only allowing 6 of the 8 goals with 5 good stops. Back up freshman goalie Walt Menke gave up 2 in the last few minutes of the game. Our young defense tends to over commit letting the attacker get around them for a one-on-one situtation with the goalie....which at this level... is generally a loosing effort for the goalie. Zack had his best game of the year Monday night against Louisville Eastern with 12 very good stops. Cov Cath will need him to have a good day tomorrow in order to have a chance at beating Sayre.

#4 seed Cov Cath defeat #6 seed Dixie in the first round of the Division II-East, Kentucky State Lacrosse playoffs. Cov Cath was lead by Juniors Nick Stutler & Kevin Boerger with (3) goals each. Cov Cath will travel to Sayer on Saturday for a 5:30 game in the next round.

Cov Cath came out strong and carried a 7-1 lead at half. The Eagles closed the gap to 2 in the 4th but the Colonels scored 2 goals to close out the game . Cov Cath's offense was lead by Junior Nick Stutler with 5 goals & 3 assist. The defense was lead by junior goalie Zack Tobler with 12 legit stops. Cov Cath will host Dixie on Thursday May 10th at 6pm in the first round of the Division II State playoffs

It's track & field, not baseball, not basketball, not football....more of an individual sport. There are kids who are very good in track & field events but it is not their passion. They participate for something to do in the off season. If they miss a week to go on spring break what's the harm? If they are not good enough, their times, jumps, etc will not matter anyway, but if they are....it sure is nice to have them around at regionals. I know of a few kids who could have helped the team but did not participate because of the rule.

The N Ky Warriors also have a high school age team. We need to get team in Boone & Campbell Counties.

Cov Cath rolled from start to finish. CCH was lead by junior attacker Nick Stutler with (4) goals. Midfielder junior Zack Toebben in his first year playing had a career day scoring (3) goals. Cov Cath will host Lexington Lafayette today at 7pm.

Sandman- No real reason for the back-to-back play other than that's the way it was scheduled. Unfortunately it not unusual for AAU games to go back-to-back. That is what makes the 17Crons, they have enough depth to help with fatigue, foul trouble, etc.

What makes Dixie a top 5 team next year? Obviously Hatton & Fox, but that doesn't add up to a top 5 in my mind. Their lack of an inside game hurt them last year with Pike not playing. Do they have any bigs coming up?

I've heard the same rumor...chime in if you know the facts.

The colonels did win 16-8. The "big goalie" only played 3 quarters giving up 5 goals....one he scored for them. He intercepted a Scott County pass that was going from behind the goal to a man in front of the goal. Some how lost the ball from his stick and it trickled in for a goal.

Mader can throw the ball hard if he can keep it in the strike zone...he may surprise a lot of people this year.

Tobler had a nice game. He certainly stopped more than he allowed. Henry Clay tried to get close, in-tight goals but Zack physically over matched them time after time. CCH defense was playing soft in the first half, enabling Henry Clay to get open one-on-one looks at the goal...tough situation for any goalie when that happen. Very nice offence games by Stutler, Boerger, Ditzel & Hellman. Also very impressive games by freshman players Kathman, Vonlehman & Zumdick. Cov Cath plays Elder tonight at 5:30 at home.

Covington Catholic beats Henry Clay 12-10 in the opening lacrosse game of the season. Cov Cath got behind early and was down 1 at the half. CovCath out scored the Blue Devils 6-3 in the second half.

Does anyone know how many kids from the same high school can play on an AAU team? I have heard only 2...is that correct? Is it the same for Ky & Ohio?

I see CCH coming out with more intensity unlike the Holmes let down game. I like the Colonels in a close one.
