DOes this over reaction really called for? I have actually watched her play and think shes a great player. Not taking anything away from the kid but you sitting her telling me that Schafer does so much more than Voskuhl does? Am I understanding you correctly? If not then I apologize. Olivia is a good defender but she does tend to draw the weakest offensive player on the other team. Both girls do what they need to do to win ball games. They rebound, score, play defense and above all they both lead by example. It would have been better if we could have seen them guard each other in the Regional Finals but that does suit Ms.Voskuhl and Highlands had a game plan on playing zone most of the game. Im just saying how I feel. Im not coming on here and blasting the voters or anybody else opinion of the matter like you tend to everytime you post something on here. Im just saying I feel like Voskuhl should have won BUT she didnt so thats that. Congrats to Schafer and Highlands for a great season and good luck to Notre Dame down at Bowling Green!

I'm not upset that Leah won. She is an outstanding player IMO and we deserving of some recognition. BUT... Player of the year? I dont know. Voskuhl 17PPG FG:48% 3's:39% FT 75% Reb 6.7 Per game Schafer 11 PPG FG: 43% 3's: 28% FT 61% Reb 6.5 Per game If you want to take scoring out of the mix then do so but take Leah away as well. What is she without her scoring? Just an avg. girls ball player thats tall. You cant take scoring out of the mix thats just silly! To me I think the voters got this one wrong but thats just my opinion. Nothing at all against Schafer at all very good kid from what I have been told.

Notre Dame was on a mission this year! Very talented team indeed. From top to the bottom. I've watched them play a few times this season and from what I can see is this. Voskuhl is a beast and hands down the best player in the 9th Region. She was simply in a zone this whole tournament especially the last two games. Ogle is simply an athlete there is nothing more to say. She had really stepped up this year and made the most of this year. Clemons is a solid shooter! Cant allow her to spot up. Only down side is she still struggles to handle the ball vs serious pressure. Smith was a nice early Christmas present for Notre Dame. She started out the season a little rough with getting into foul trouble BUT she got better and better every game. SHe is going to be a force for the next two years in the 9th region. Kellam had improved the most from the beginning of the season to the end. I watch her play early this season and she seemed a little scared vs pressure and had a lot of TO but watching her against Boone and Highlands she is a different player. She's confident in her shot and she can not handle the pressure. Only place where I think Notre Dame is weak is their bench. Good luck at State next week I know those ladies will represent the 9th Region well.

I have to be honest I HATE THE ALL "A" CLASSIC. For this reason. I Understand its purpose and agree with what the original intent was, BUT in todays world the all A seems to be dominated by smaller private schools who usually end up winning their own regional anyway. New Cath has won the 9th region what 5 straight now and last few have been winning the finals by large margins. To me I just dont think its right that a team good enough to compete in the Regional tourney get to compete in the All A classic. Just one's opinion I guess. Im sure many will disagree.

This is true. Rumor has it that Newport Boys coach got to vote this year and voted to have it seeded. If thats true I wonder what his intentions are with that one. ANybody know anything about he would want that vs a blind draw?

Not sure on this one. If I was a betting man I would put my money back in my pocket and just go and watch the game. Conner has been tough all season but their jam packed end of the season schedule has them losing 5 of their last 9 games including at Boone Co. BUT..... they still have a good coach and a better bench than Boone. Boone seems to be playing well late in the season but they have had this habot of laying an egg every 3rd or 4th game. Very interested to see what the coach's have in store for each other. Hopefully nothing keeps me from being there.

What are these numbers based on? Where is this found? Could someone correct me if I'm wrong but why isnt Boone Co. on this list? Am I correct is saying Coach Fookes has over 600 career wins at Boone?

I would have to agree. Interesting Match-ups though with NCC and Highlands squaring off in first rd. As well as Conner and Boone. Any possible upsets in the making?

GEEZ tough decision for me to make. Do I go and watch the rematch between Boone and Conner or the New Cath Highlands game? Either one will be a sure barn burner and a ton of emotion and passion in both games. Would like to see how the "new" head coach at New Cath goes against Highlands but then again I want to see if Fookes and the Lady Rebels can pull off a miracle and upset one of the best teams in the Region. This will be a game time decision!

I guess after the game I was at last night it was simply frustrating. I went to the Conner / Boone Co. game hoping so see a good game and I was not disappointed at all. I sat on Conner's side because I love sitting behind the bench so I can listen to coachs during TO. What can I say I love to learn things from coachs and last nights game between Fookes and Stamm was a great one to go see. On one hand you have a veteran coach who has seen just about everything there is and another coach in Stamm who isnt afraid to try any gimic offense of defense to try and win. Love watching both their teams. Going into the 4th qtr Boone had a slight edge and with Conner dropping back into a zone Boone just held the ball. I heard parent complaining about Boone not playing ball and some really vulger things said to Coach Fookes. How is it her fault that Conner went to a zone? Or how is it her fault that she decided to try and run down some clock? Hows that not playing ball? The way to win a basketball game is to have the more points that your opponent at the end of the game not whoever gets to a certain number first wins. I have come to understand that there is a lack or respect for Fookes and like her or not you have to respect who she is and what she has accomplished. 4th on the all time wins list and 2nd amoung active coach's (yes I took 5 min to look this up before typing it) Show her some respect and show the officials respect. Parents that sit in the stands and cry and complain about every last thing is stupid. Every time your team misses a shot it isnt always a foul. Andy yes your kid does walk occationally or commit a stupid foul. Yes coachs do hold the ball with 4 min left when they have a lead and for the love of GOD yes refs miss things!!!!

I'm sick and tired of going to games trying to enjoy them and hear some idiot in the stand either yelling at their coach, opposing coach, their own kids or officials. What enjoyment do people get out of talking down to a coach? Do you not have any idea how much time is put into a season or even a certain game for that matter? Your setting a TERRIBLE EXAMPLE! I have been to games where a parent has been walking out of the gym with 1 min left is disgust cause there kid wasnt in the game then while the coach was putting her in had the nerve to yell across the gym, "It's too late now!" I have been to games where a ref was being cracked on about his heigth or how old they may be. Worst of all I have heard fans upset with the way an opposing coach is playing. What are you teaching you kids? If its lack of respect then your doing a great job. ANymore kids are an absolute joke when is comes to respect and sportsmanship. I apologize for those few parents and kids that are not suffering from this problem. There truely are some great kids out there. Hopefully this message gets across to a few of you but I know it wont. I just felt the need to express frustration I have had this season when it comes to trying to watch a great girls basketball game and all I can here is some idiot yelling the entire time because they dont know any different. GROW UP AND SET AN EXAMPLE!

Yes you cant go by the KHSAA webpage. Any extra games throughout the year does not count. Only the regular season games count towards District. Which means Conner is only 2-0 in the District and Boone is 0-1. That Conner Tournament doesnt count towards the District record.

I think the JV tourney is down to the Semi-Finals now isnt it?

Is Simon Kenton falling a part at a bad time in the season?? Just curious only seen them play twice and seemed like two different teams to me. Saw them play home vs Ryle and looked pretty sharp. Also, was at Boone when they seem to not be able to crack that zone Fookes had in store for the Lady Pioneers. ANy thoughts on their recent struggles?

Solid win for the Lady Rebels. Seems like Coach Fookes is getting her team back on track to where they need to be. Tough District game this Friday night at Ryle. Looks like a good night for High School basketball. Boys and Girls playing a double header at Ryle hope to see a great crowd for the rivalry game!

Should be a very good game in my opinion. Both team have taken some lumps between match-ups and should be good. To me this game will tell a lot about where both of these teams are. With the District's just around the corner this win could be huge for either team in building some momentum. Good luck to both squads and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say BC by 4 in a close match up may even be another OT thriller!

I have watched a lot of 9th Region Girls basketball this year and it has really been a great season. I just heard the 9th region player of the year is a tie. Yes indeed a tie. Now I have a small problem with this when I fould out how the coachs vote on this. I just have a hard time understanding how a girl (Sydney Moss) could possibly win Miss Basketball (and in case some of you dont know what that means, SHE'S THE BEST PLAYER IN THE STATE!) Isnt the out right best player in her Region? When the girl she is tied with isnt even in the conversation for Miss Basketball. Just goes to show you how stupid some coachs can be. GROW UP! Its just sad when you take that from kids cause thats the only ones who really get hurt!

I would say the only girl who could be ahead of her is Highlands Leah Schaefer, BUT if any coach in the Region watched the Finals game she had vs. Boone I would have to say she's looking at a pretty solid chance at being the best player in the region next year. Congrats to Boone Co. Lady Rebels what a great game to watch! Also, Coach Fookes as made it to the Semi-Finals twice but never made it to the big game!
