Wow! looks like others saw more than just a scorer out of Miss Leah Schaeffer! Congrats to an OUTSTANDING YOUNG LADY!!!!

Congratulations to Troy Lee Thomas at Bath Co.! Very well deserved!

Who picks these? what a joke. if the girl from Notre Dame is not on there, no one from the 9th should be. She was the best player up here. Why don"t whoever picks these come watch them play. Because if they did they would know.

So are you saying you don't agree and Ms. Schaeffer is non-deserving?

Don't the COACHES vote on this?

Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC). So to answer your question...coaches pick them...or in other words, the ones that know the game and it's players the best!

You are right I don't agree. If you think Schaeffer was the best in the region your watching other games than everyone else. Every player is deserving, but only one this year from what I seen. As to coaches voting as usually its a popularity contest not who's the best.

You have got to be kidding me. You need to get back to the real world if you think coaches from down state know who's good. If that's, true then the girl from ND would be in this list. What a shame.

The same coaches that voted your Coach Stamm as a co-coach of the year (who I agree with 100%) . So are they dumb and don't know what they are talking about?

Voskuhl is a great scorer and I think a terrific player. But for this conversation, remove the fact that she is a outstanding scorer and tell me why she is player of the year. Scoring is only one part of the game. It gets all the ink, but still only one part of the game to people that really know the game. Novice basketball fans tend to look at scoring only. Basketball coaches look at a players entire resume. IMO, that why you see people unhappy with things like this. If you give up as many points as you get, you're not a great basketball player. I'm not saying that about Voskuhl at all, just an example.

I got another little tidbit for you, the players in the 9th region were only voted on by the coaches in the 9th region. Each region votes for their own region. So there weren't any "down state" coaches voting for 9th region players. It was the coaches that see them every night.

And I didn't see any "Vote for Leah Schaeffer" billboards as I was driving around NKY!

Popularity contest?...I guess it pays to be pretty, 6 foot, intelligent, left handed (because coaches like lefties), have a great personality, be a great role model and have average basketball skills (from what i'm hearing from you) so you can be player of the year in the 9th region.

Congratulations to the winners.

It has always been my opinion that some of this voting goes to players and coaches that didn't win the region. The co-coaches of the year would fall into this category, and while I would agree they were both very good, the best coach this year was Nicole L from NDA. Just a few years ago she was an assistant at Holy Cross looking for a job, then she got a good one and has made the most of it. Holy Cross has failed to make the region. Stamm did a very good job in the regular season, but once again Conner didn't make the region.

As for Schaeffer vs. Voskuhl or Beal or Turner or Scott well they were all very good.

Again congrats to the winners!

Little tib bit for you he is not my coach as I never played for him.

So scoring rebounds and assists should be a factor? Then why don't you look up who's in the top of those. Hmmm very interesting, just saying.
