I don't worry about any of that. I can't control what I can't control. If it happens it happens. All I can do is give my heart and soul to the girls and the program and let the cards fall. I stay focused on the task at hand and could care less what happens outside of the circle I care about.

Don't need to look it up. Stats can be misleading too. Again, won't go there. People that made these decisions aren't looking just at stats. A lot more thought goes into it than what the paper says! Heck, even at my age, if I went out and played "joe's preschool" every night, I'd light up the stat book. !

No, no, no, no...I mentioned that in another post. ND and HHS schedule was strong!!! OTHERS were not as strong. And when you look at just stats, who you play has a lot to do with your numbers.

I didn't say that. Clyde did! I have no idea who was considered and who wasn't. But JMO, it was a 2-horse race by the end. There were some other good players out there, but these two filtered to the top by the end of the year...IMO.

IMO there were a couple more but that's just my opinion and you were the one who said stats didn't matter when you play weak schedules and if Olivia was the only other one considered who were you talking about since she played a tough schedule

Olivia is a good defender but she does tend to draw the weakest offensive player on the other team. Both girls do what they need to do to win ball games. They rebound, score, play defense and above all they both lead by example. It would have been better if we could have seen them guard each other in the Regional Finals but that does suit Ms.Voskuhl and Highlands had a game plan on playing zone most of the game. Im just saying how I feel. Im not coming on here and blasting the voters or anybody else opinion of the matter like you tend to everytime you post something on here. That's fair. I guess I was just taken back by the "avg girls bball player that is tall" comment and got a little defensive...okay a lot defensive. She is waaaay more than that. I have said multiple times that it could have gone either way with those two and it would have been fine with me. OV is outstanding and I actually think if the voting would have taken place after the region, this would have been a no brainer in OV's favor. But, to say that because someone is a better scorer means they are a better basketball player...simply not true and that's what I was defending. Leah is not a scorer by nature. She did not get recruited to X because of her scoring ability.

 

As some have said, could she have been a more aggressive scorer at the high school level, I think the answer is yes. I think she'd tell you that! But that's not the way her brain works and it will be an asset at the next level.

Anderson Co dominates the region, loses one game en route to Diddle and no player or coach of the year, or even co-player/coach? Oh well, works out that way sometimes I guess, but I thought at least Kayes would be coach of the year with all the team did this year.

My understanding is that only KABC member coaches (and their players) are eligible for consideration. In other words, schools/coaches must pay their membership dues in order to be a considered as an award recipient - this includes both coaches and players. If someone else can verify or refute this, please do so.

For what it is worth, the voting is done well before the post season. Also, I think Coach Kays did a wondeful job.
