Sandbagger

Thanks for the explanation...Makes total sense. I honestly thought it meant tick tick tick, like you were waiting for ppl to reply. And that's why I am JV and you are All World!

What does ttt mean?

Agreed!

Check out early UK basketball results and you'll notice they played And I believe lost to teams like Lexington High School, Layfayette, & Lexington YMCA (now known as the High St. Y). Very bizarre games in all sports at all levels early on.

I agree with the top 5. Where is this Rockcastle team I am hearing abt from a couple of H.S. Football junkies?

Thx! It's not only HHS grads contributing either... Mueller, Weinrich, Dill, Behymer, Murray, & Evans are HHS grads But... Turner-Newport Jones- Frankfort Western Hills Hall, Swope, Meadows all Bellevue grads Leopold-?? Also, John Murray was a long time Beechwood asst under Mike Yeagle. I'm sure I forgot a couple coaches too...Sorry to them

Highlands 38 Cov. Cath 17

I agree with Hoosier on this one...There are too many ppl that deserve credit. More than big names or a certain class like the 2004 group there are the FAMILIES who sacrifice time, vacations, etc. To get their kids to practice, pack the lunches, support their son who isn't the star anymore or encourage them when they think abt giving up, or are there for them when their position has been changed or the sophomore who rarely gets in unless it's a blowout or JV game. There is also a cradle of coaches led by Mueller who spend more hours that can be counted planning, practicing, meeting, breaking down film every week. It is as if they get together as soon as Friday's game is over & start all over again putting together a new game plan for the next opponent. These coaches are names that rarely get mentioned. Weinrich, Turner, Jones, Hall, Swope, Dill, Leopold, Behymer, Murray, Evans, and more. Of course, Collinsworth is an incredible person/coach to have on staff too! Finally, IMO the Birds do a large part of winning in the offseason beginning the first day back after Christmas break, through spring football, all the way up to the summer. There are countless 3 hour long workouts all with 1goal...Get better everyday, while being a high character person & the best student you can be.

Both teams will play hard to the end and I doubt either tap any breaks...That's just not how coaching staffs think IMO. They prepare to win b/c there are NO guarantees!

Highlands is 30-0 all-time vs. Scott

NCC Easily. JV plays entire 2nd half.

First of all, nobody wants to play HHS in KY so when a school agrees to play the birds jump at the chance. Secondly, the 2 coaching staffs have friends in common. Finally, when the game was scheduled MC had a healthy Josh Harris and he would've made a difference in the final score.

The current QB at UK is Morgan Newton. C'mon man give me a little credit... I hope you are on to something B & B!

Good point. I am not from there, but my dads family is from Bellevue &my moms family is from Dayton and over the years I just haven't seen /heard much disdain, but it is a fantastic rivalry and I am always interested in the score. I would've liked to see this game more in say 1966 or 1979 than now.

I wonder how much chance Joker will give him to be the starter!

Being a UK fan I hope not, but I wouldn't blame him! Newton is Jokers boy, they ran off a five-star QB recruit in Mossakowski, who by the way threw for 5Td's last wk and ran for 2 more...UK is extremely frustrating to watch!

I just meant in terms of playoff/state tourney/NKY or state ranking significance. Also, check out the attendance at these games. I'm pretty sure there were tix leftover at the end of the night. Finally, I lived in Bellevue from'99-'04 right on the border and the two fan bases got along well and it just didn't seem all that heated. Don't get me wrong there were bragging rights, but both sides knew beating Beechwood would be a bigger deal. JMO.

Coaching staffs have friends in common & when the game was scheduled MC had Harris. The way the MC offense runs he would've made a difference. Also, I'm sure MC wanted Harris to be able to showcase his skills v. Highlands.

Unofficially I'd say Hoge threw for approx 400yds. I know he threw 5 TD passes & two of them were to J. Whitford they went for 44 & 56 respectively. A third one went to Weyer for abt 44. Behymer used several backs to run the ball so I don't think any one of them had huge numbers... Whitford also had 2 int's and Weyer 1. Cooper's back-up QB ran 12 yes for their TD. Cooper also has a couple of good players in #22 & #24 (Wise) -played both ways and will be excellent for 3 more years.

Bellevue v. Dayton? I know it's the oldest and while both hold state titles this game hasn't meant a thing in awhile. I do like the whole neighborhood thing too... SK / Ryle that's gotta be a joke! Anybody v. Dixie is not the biggest. CCH v. HHS is good, but has stints of one-sidedness I'm goin with NCC v. Highlands- such a heated rivalry it has been discontinued since '95 or '96 so Ft. Thomas doesn't have a civil war! Now that's a rivalry!

The Scott thing seems far fetched even with a good coach & new facilities... Oh by the way, NCC wins big! 44-7

I too agree with CSP. I thought only the KHSAA was this ridiculous!

I agree with Clyde & I remember the SI article... All abt percentages...

I'm friends with a huge Elder fan with a kid on the team now and an older son on the squad a few years later. In his opinion, Elder was down last year, but not this year... For the record, I think a "down" Elder team is still a darn good team that could compete with almost anyone.

I can respect that reason. I would do that too. I am looking forward to going to Maysville for the game. Never been there for football... Also, will be stopping at Blue Licks State Park for dinner.
