Great hire for Ryle. I was on staff at Boone when David was a senior and loved his leadership and his ability to make people around him better. David played and coached in the Shining Star Sports program for years and became one of our top recruiters and head coaches. This young man is mature beyond his years and is one of the most loyal individuals you will ever meet. I am very proud of my boy D-Mac and wish him nothing but the best!

Very happy for the girls at Cooper. The young ladies from Notre Dame that play in our program all speak very highly of her and were sad to see her leave Notre Dame. Congrats!

I am not sure why this thread has taken the route of putting Shining Star Sports and Kentucky Premier up against each other. I run the Shining Star Sports girls program and have a great deal of respect for the Kentucky Premier program. They have been in the business of AAU basketball for a long time and they do it the right way and have built one of the top AAU programs in the country. Every player has to find a program that they feel comfortable with. Both programs have a number of very talented young ladies. The Shining Star Sports program will continue to work hard for every girl that enters the program. We have had a lot of success in the last couple of years and will continue to work hard to improve every year. We feel very good about the level of talent in our program and will continue to work hard to build strong teams that can compete at a high level. I wish all of the players in the state of Kentucky the best of luck this AAU season!

I think Paige Kellam was huge last night. She played extremely well and made some big plays during key stretches. I do have a question for the Highlands faithful. What is the story with Schaeffer? Is she healthy? I have always thought of her as one of the top players in the region but she doesn't seem to be playing like a star player should play at this time of the year. I watched Voskuhl last night and she hit big shot after big shot. I looked up at the beginning of the fourth quarter and Schaeffer had as many fouls as she did points.

Very proud of the cooper girls. They have worked very hard and it was nice to see them be rewarded with a district win. Congrats ladies!

I believe that Coach Terwilliger was doing a very good job with the girls. They seemed to really enjoy playing for him. His biggest obstacle was getting familiar with his scheduled opponents. Not being from this area he did not have a lot of knowledge about teams and personnel. I believe that Coach Schneider and Coach Tharp will continue to do good work with the girls.

There have been players play up in the past. Moss and Crittendon played at Ryle and Conner had a couple of kids play up as 8th graders last year.

Best wishes to Coach Terwilliger and his family. The girls seemed to really enjoy playing for him. This team has already surpassed their win total from last year and is playing good basketball. I believe that Coach Schneider and Coach Tharp will keep the girls moving in the right direction. Good luck to all of the Cooper players and coaches.

Gallatin County beat Pulaski in the championship game, Cooper beat Villa Madonna in the 3rd place game. Not sure what happened in the other games. Hannah Dossett, Brooke Dossett and Mikkah Hignite made All Tourney from Gallitan. Katey Pittman and Savannah Brinneman made All Tourney from Cooper.l

Nikki had no idea that she scored her 100th point. The look on her face when they announced that she had reached the mark was priceless. Very proud of her!

They took two big losses when Emily Pawsatt and Jesse Schilling decided not to play. They don't have much depth. They also do not have Kara Schwartz due to a season ending injury. Probably their best three players from last season. I was at the Beechwood vs NCC game and they played very well. Very impressed with the 8th grade point guard Allison Johnson. She played very well for being so young. The other player that was really impressive was Macy Steumpel who is only a 9th grader. Nice player. But overall they lack depth and size. They play very hard but don't have enough to beat the top teams in Northern Kentucky.

I had the opportunity to stop in and see Highlands versus Dixie. I was very impressed with the Highlands team. They were pressing and trapping, playing a lot of girls, getting shots up and playing with a lot of energy. Did they open with pressing and trapping in the last two games? I was interested if that was the way they would attempt to play all year or if they were only taking advantage of Dixie's young guards.

This was a mismatch from the very beginning. Scott is VERY young as they had two seventh graders in their starting lineup. Scott had a shooting guard (Jill Buntin) playing the post due to lack of size. With that being said, Conner has a very nice rotation and will win a lot of games. They put a lot of pressure on teams and have a lot of different weapons including one of the 9th region best in Jordan Scott. Should be a fun year for Conner fans!

Paige Ross lead the way for the Jaquars with 19 points. She had her best game of this young season. Savannah Brinneman and Katey Pittman each had 11 points. Cooper will get a lift with the return of Grace Maniacci this week. She is out of the boot and working to get back on the court very soon. This should add some depth to a very thin front line.

I think that Highlands has one of the better teams in the 9th this year. They are going to win a lot of games and get better as the year continues. They have very good depth and one of the top players in Leah Shafer. This should be a very fun team to watch going forward.

Cooper doesn't have enough depth to get that many girls in foul trouble. They will have to play without fouling if they are going to be successful. The only go about 7 or 8 deep at this point and have to be able to keep girls on the floor. I noticed in a lot of posts today that people are complaining about the number of fouls that have been called in games this week. Can any of the coaches or officials tell us if there is an emphasis by the officials this year to clean up the girls games?

Brooke has a very high basketball IQ. She really understands the game and makes the players around her better. Brooke had a fantastic summer for the Shining Star Sports program and played on the National Championship team. If Gallatin County can good interior play they will be very good. They have a nice guard rotation with Hannah, Brooke and Mikkah.

I was very impressed with the depth that Highlands has. They have a lot of options available to them. Very good team!
