Dayton always has a tough group of kids & will always play until the last whistle. I'm guessing last years game provided some incentive for Dayton and maybe a little over-confidence for Brossart. As with every program, learn from the past and get better. Good Luck to both schools!

I have been trying really hard to just observe and not comment too much. I have been away from BGP for about 10 years and just joined again recently because of personal interests in the NKY sports scene. I will mention that I am never satisfied with a team or individual performance. As soon as you think things are good enough, you just stopped getting better. I also have a hard time being politically correct, and the last thing I want to do is offend anyone.... I have a lot of close ties to CCH and cheer for them as feverishly as anyone. I take in as much HS football as I can and I have seen a portion of Cov Cath in 3 of 4 games this year. Last night I went to Walton for the 1st half, and took in the 2nd half @ Boone. CCH will be pretty good this year, but they are a work in progress. Offense can be awesome and explosive. Several times last night they looked as though they were going to completely take the game over & roll up the score. Then they would shoot themselves in the foot. Defensively, the scheme is very good & they showed flashes of being dominate. Then they give up the big play. Dbacks need to mature quickly and consistently make plays. That will not happen over night, which presents problems against good teams. Special teams are an issue & need to be fixed. A team cannot rely on a kicker to kick every ball into the end zone and someone needs to start making some tackles on special teams. Boone has some potential as well and will compete in a crowded 6A field, but overall while last night's game was entertaining I would call it a pretty sloppy game rather than a great game. JMO....

If they keep these early games in perspective, they will still be tough come district play. If they get down because of the tough schedule or key players get beat up, it will make for a long year. I'm hoping they keep there heads up and keep working.

Cov Cath gave up a couple of long scores on errors by the CCH secondary. More mental errors than physical shortcomings. Those can be corrected. I know the coaching staff was not happy about giving up 35.

A lot of talent & fairly deep, not much on size this year, but they should grow....

I know how it works, I was just bummed that I couldn't adjust my schedule 2 days in a row. I wanted to see the youngsters play.

I know, it's killing me!!!! I changed my schedule & canceled some things to get to the game yesterday @ Cov Cath... Can't make the same changes today. I'm just a little bummed!!!

I think it's within the last 2 or 3 years, and there was a pretty specific situation that caused the change. I just don't recall what that situation was......or it's possible that it was all a bad dream?????

Generally they do (1 to 2K) depending on the circumstances or the specific contract. If I recall, the state mandates some type of compensation.

Very tough call. Based on what I saw Friday night in Bellevue & what I saw of Frankfort at the end of last year, I'm leaning towards Newport in a tight game.

I know it's the coaches poll, but NCC has to be ranked above Dixie, with or without Pike. Bellevue came away with a win on Saturday, but not a stellar performance. I don't think it boosts them into the top 10. Beechwood should be higher until someone proves themselves to be more deserving. jmo.

From my observation, Pangallo was the most consistent player on the field Saturday night. Lowery had a few nice moments.

Not to beat a dead horse, or disrespect either program, no one dominated at anything during this game. It could have easily ended at the 6-0 score there was at the half. Play was somewhat sloppy by both squads, but Bellevue was able to take advantage of mistakes and field position. It was an early season contest, not week 6 or 7. Both teams will get better and compete in district play.

I've got Pike throwing to Cohorn for 5 Td's but Cov Cath wins by 1 on a 62 yard FG as time expires..... CCH could be as good as they have looked early, but I don't think Dixie is as down as they have looked so far. This is a grudge match, and regardless of what things look like, it should be a tough game for both programs. I'm looking forward to it!

It should be MUCH more competitive than it has been in recent years. Both quality programs.

Let's hope it is just getting the kinks out early. This is a talented group, they need the chance to gel.

Tigers 21 - WV 0 Very much an early season contest. 6-0 at the half. Lots of mistakes, dropped passes, ball on the ground, bad penalties. Pushing & shoving on the O and D lines.... Bellevue took advantage and put the game away. Both clubs can have good seasons, but have to go back to work. I did not really see anyone that turned heads. Good Luck to both clubs!!
