  1. Holy Cross Radio will be there tonight to cover the Holy Cross/St. Henry game at 6:00 pm. Pregame around 5:45 pm. If Holy Cross wins we will also be there tomorrow night for the finals at 7:00 pm. http://vcloud.blueframetech.com/holycross/widget?I'd=145
  2. Instride is correct. It was a great bounce back win for Coach Sorrell's team after Tuesday night vs Conner. This Holy Cross team can score. Most people know that. Give Conner credit when they held them to 62 points. They average nearly 80 on the year. The difference last night was Holy Cross played much better defensively (especially in the first half) holding a talented Bluebirds offense to only 32 points. As far as Jacob Meyer I'll say this. Some people "outside Latonia" who do not watch the games and just see box scores always seem to want to criticize Jacob Meyer instead of ever giving him any credit. All star players are going to take the most shots on teams. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves to be honest. He has gotten his teammates involved probably more this year than any of the previous 3. He is averaging 8 rebs per game and shooting well over 50% from the field and 40% from 3. Those #s are fantastic for a kid averaging 35 ppg. For this Holy Cross team to be like last night and compete/beat teams like Highlands, they need to buy in and play better overall defense and continue to share the ball. Last night, Meyer with 27, and 23 and Smith 22. That will win a lot of games. End of rant...
  3. 4 Quarters almost spot on in his prediction of Holy Cross by 7 in the other game thread. Very nice!
  4. Thanks for listening AYG. Two really good teams went at it last night. My voice needs a day off. 🙂
  5. Fun game to call on Holy Cross Radio as the home team bounces back from last night’s disappointing game (vs Conner) to beat a really good Highlands team. The Indians never trailed in the game racing out to a 30-13 first quarter lead. They would eventually build a 20 point lead in the 2nd quarter. The Birds cut the lead to 12 at the half 44-32. Holy Cross started the 4th with an 11-pt lead but Highlands would get as close as 2 points with about 3:00 to go before Holy Cross closed it out making 6/6 FTs in the final minute. HC Senior Jacob Meyer led all scorers with 27 points and added 8 assists. Seniors Javier Ward had 23 and Jacob Smith had 22 (5/10 from 3). Sam Gibson with 7 pts and 14 rebs. Matt Dreas had 9 assists. Highlands had 5 in double figures led by Junior Nathan Vinson with 20 pts and 11 rebs. Senior William Herald had 18 points and Brayden Moeves had 14. Highlands 13 19 20 25 - 77 Holy Cross 30 14 19 20 - 83
  6. Would like to think Holy Cross will score more than 62 tonight. Lol
  7. Give Conner credit they passed the ball well all night and found the open man and were able to knock down 3s. Hamilton, Lohr & Kramer combined 11/14 from 3 in the first half. Holy Cross tried to make a few runs in the 3rd getting as close as 8 but couldn’t get any closer. The Cougars finish 15/26 from long range. Senior Jacob Meyer led all scorers with 28 points. Conner had 3 players with 20+ with Ayden Lohr leading the way with 23. Dalton Kramer had 22 and Landon Hamilton added 20. Conner 28 20 13 21 - 82 Holy Cross 14 17 7 24 - 62 * The Indians will need to rebound quickly as they welcome in the Highlands Bluebirds tomorrow night.
  8. Looks pretty spot on to me heading into the new year. Well done!
  9. Holy Cross with a nice bounce-back win over a good Bracken County team. The Indians improve to 7-3 while the Polar Bears drop to 9-4. Holy Cross Senior Jacob Meyer led all scorers with 42 points. He is averaging 45.5 ppg in the 2 games thus far at Lex Cath. Senior Javier Ward added 31 points and Senior Sam Gibson had 19 rebounds and 7 blocks. Bracken Co was led by Blake Reed with 24 points. Cayden Reed had 23. HC 17 21 25 26 - 89 BC 13 19 22 22 - 76
  10. Opening round game tonight at 7:00 pm of the White, Greer & Maggard Holiday Classic at Lex Cath. This should be a very entertaining game with both teams in the top 5 in the state in scoring offense. Also get Jacob Meyer (35 ppg) and Travis Perry (30 ppg).
  11. Final from Roger Bacon as the Indians improve to 6-2 on the season. * Holy Cross was led by Senior Jacob Meyer with 34 points. Senior Jacob Smith added 12. HC 19 20 22 8 - 69 RB 6 10 9 11 - 36
  12. Final score from Bullitt East (Quarter Finals) HC 10 9 13 12 - 44 DM 20 6 12 16 - 54 * Unofficial but Junior Julia Hunt led Holy Cross with 19 points. I don't have any stats for Manual.
  13. Final from Mason County per the scoreboard. Any details on this one? The Birds held to 60 points is a little surprising...
  14. Final from Boone County. HC - 29 20 24 20 - 93 BC - 20 14 23 10 - 67 * Holy Cross improves to 5-2 on the season (losses to Cov Cath & Great Crossing). They were led in scoring by Jacob Meyer with 39 points and 9 rebounds. Jacob Smith added 21 and Matt Dreas chipped in with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assist and 4 steals. Sam Gibson had 20 rebounds. Holy Cross will travel to Ohio to take on Roger Bacon on Thursday night. * The Rebels were led by Thomas Williams with 25 points. Mason Hall added 18.
  15. Final from the Queen of the Commonwealth Tournament at Bullitt East. Holy Cross improves to 8-1 on the season with a big win over the Lady Mustangs. They will now take on Dupont Manual tomorrow night at 7:15 pm.
  16. Could still re rounding into basketball shape but teams at least so far teams are still double-teaming her with a front and back player. The beneficiary of that has been Najai Lewis who has been guarded one on one and she has been off to a great start. If this was last year I'd be much more worried about her "lower" scoring games but as a TEAM, I think having 2 post players is obviously a huge benefit for the team in the long run. She still leads the team in scoring at 12.7 ppg we just have more balance scoring this year. They are 7-1 and really haven't played a complete game yet. They will get a huge test next week when they play in the Queen of the Commonwealth at Bullitt East. They play McCracken County on Monday so we will see how they can stack up against the better teams down state in this tournament and then the All "A" in January. 🙂
  17. Big win for the Lady Indians on the road. They play host to Scott on Friday.
  18. I haven't seen the Birds live yet this year but have watched the scores like most people have. They have played well to start the season and probably the 2nd best team (behind Cov Cath) at this point. But I will say I think the high scoring games/output has at least "partly" been a product of who they have played so far. The combined record of the 6 teams played so far is 11-26. Again, not hating on what this team can do and clearly they have shooters but I might pump the brakes on them averaging 90-100 consistently. If they keep up that pace it will be very impressive. I do look forward to seeing them in person when they come to Holy Cross on January 4th. That game could clearly be high scoring. 🙂
  19. Holy Cross Radio will be there on Friday for the Holy Cross/Scott game in Latonia. Double Deuce is right a big step up in competition.
  20. I sure hope Brooks is ok. I really hate to see these kids go down with injuries. Prayers out to the young man.
  21. Holy Cross (4-1) will travel to Park Hills to take on Covington Catholic (5-0) tonight in an early season 35th district seed game. Holy Cross's lone loss came to Great Crossing, who is ranked in the top 10 in the state, last week on their home floor. The Colonels, rank in the top 5 in the state, are led by Evan Ipsaro averaging 27.4 ppg. The Indians come into this game led by Jacob Meyer with 33.6 ppg and Javier Ward at 21.6 ppg. It should be a great atmosphere tonight and more than likely a sellout. If you can't make it to the game, you can listen live on Holy Cross Radio at http://vcloud.blueframetech.com/holycross/widget?I'd=145.
  22. Final from Scott County. Holy Cross (4-1) rebounds from last night's loss to Great Crossing with a win over Scott Co 95-72 to capture 3rd place in the Billy Hicks Classic. Holy Cross 24 30 20 21 - 95 Scott County 18 15 21 18 - 72 Holy Cross was led by Senior Jacob Meyer with 37 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Javier Ward had 28 points (5/9 from 3) and Senior Sam Gibson added 14 points and 14 rebounds. Scott County was led by Daquise Brown and Nick Mosby who each had 20 points. The Indians will next play at Cov Cath on Tuesday in a 35th district seed game.
  23. Final from the Billy Hicks Classic at Great Crossing. HC 9 14 25 12 - 60 GC 17 21 14 23 - 75 Great Crossing jumped out to an early lead and would eventually lead 38-23 at the half. Holy Cross outscored the Warhawks 25-14 to cut into the lead 52-48 heading into the 4th. Holy Cross started the 4th on a 6-2 run and would tie the game at 54 with 5:00 to go but would get outscored 21-6 to end the game. Senior Jacob Meyer led all scores with 34 for Holy Cross. Javier Ward added 14. Great Crossing was led by Soph Vince Dawson with 23 and Malachi Moreno added 21 points and 14 rebounds. Holy Cross will play in the 3rd place game tomorrow at 2:00 pm vs Frederick Douglass at Scott County HS.
  24. People were wanting to put them at #2 or #3 in the region I thought. Maybe they will be better as the year goes but I'll take experience/seniors over youth any day.
