Covington Holy Cross vs. Newport Central Catholic Predictions/Updates (All "A" Classic 9th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

Finals of the 9th Region All "A" Classic tonight at 6:00 pm at St. Henry High School.

Holy Cross Indians (15-1) vs NCC Breds (9-6)

* Winner will get the Region 5 winner (Bethlehem will be a heavy favorite) next Wednesday, January 22nd at 10:00 am at Owensboro SportsCenter.

** If you can't make it out to the game tonight in person you can listen live on Holy Cross Radio starting at 5:45 pm.

Boy, Bethlehem as your All A Classic opener is a heckuva task for whomever wins this one.  I hadn't seen a bracket yet for the Classic, but daggone, the 9th drew the short straw, to be sure.

You have to play everyone, I get it, but I'd love a little easier way to ease into a new building and new sightlines, especially if I'm a Holy Cross team that loves to shoot a lot of threes.

Hope you guys get a big crowd at St. Henry tonight for this one.

I believe, and credit to The Enquirer's Brendan Connelly for this nugget, but either Holy Cross or NewCath has won the girls' 9th Region All A every year since 2001.  That is kind of crazy, when you think about it, none of these players were even close to being born yet.

Holy Cross (if they win) and Bethlehem would be the top 2 ranked teams in the All "A" State Tournament if we went by the Massey rankings playing in round one. Double Deuce you might know that better than me but I think that's right. Also the winner would more than likely get Owensboro Catholic in round 2 who is also a Top 20 in the state team and very good. The upper part of that bracket is loaded.

I think Holy Cross would match up ok vs Bethlehem. If it happens would be a great game for sure. You could make an argument that Bethlehem drew the bad straw too. Lol

Correct on NCC or Holy Cross winning the 9th region All A every year since 2001. Holy Cross has won the last 3 and 7 of the last 10 including the last two State Championships.

Nut, you're correct on the statewide Massey Ratings of the three "favorites."
