The Indians inprove to 6-2 on the season and have now won five straight games after the blowout win tonight. Senior Julia Hunt led the way with 18 points. Freshman Alyssa Arlinghaus had 15 and Junior Aniyah Carter added 13. Holy Cross will advance in the winners bracket to face Boyd County tomorrow night at 8:30 pm. Boyd Co beat Manual 70-58.- 1 reply

Holy Cross led by as many as 11 late in the first half. Boone Co outscored Holy Cross 22-7 in the 3rd quarter to get the lead and go on to win. The young Indians played well without leading scorer Nate Rominger (19 ppg) and 2 others still out hurt. Give the Rebels credit too though they had to earn this one on the road. This Holy Cross team has been a surprise so far this season and will get better and better once their injured kids return.- 1 reply

Holy Cross played this game without leading scorer Nate Rominger (19 ppg) who was out sick. They were already playing without Carson Rienersman and Brady Gabbard who have been out hurt. The Indians will take their 5-1 record into Tuesday's matchup at home against the Boone Co Rebels (5-1). Holy Cross Radio will be there to cover the game. https://vcloud.blueframetech.com/holycross/widget?I'd=145 -
Holy Cross 67 Bishop Brossart 55
Baseball Nut 24 replied to Kentucky Windage's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hard fought game last night between two young teams who lost a lot of seniors and most of their offense from last year. I thought both Coach Johnson and Coach Franzen had their teams ready to play. I know each team was missing two players due to injuries and/or illness. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way. Brossart (2-1) - Doyle 16, Mulberry 14, Hill 7, D Steffen 5, Kuntz 5, Hadden 4, Boruske 4. Holy Cross (2-1) - Rominger 27, Arlinghaus 13, McElheney 8, Crail 6, Goetz 4, Hunt 3, Adams 3, Urlage 3. * Holy Cross is off now until next Tuesday(12/12) where they will host Roger Bacon. -

Their depth will get a lot better when Freshman D'Myah Williams is cleared to play. She is a tremendous young player and will be a starter. That will move someone to the rotation off the bench. While they might not be as deep as last year they will still go 8-9 most nights. -
New Rules and Points of emphasis this season?
Baseball Nut 24 replied to Breds82's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I know there are new foul rules. Not sure about anything else. 1. All bonus fouls are now 2 shots. 2. Bonus starts on the 5th foul of each quarter. 3. Fouls will reset at the beginning of each quarter. -

9th Region Boys Basketball Preview
Baseball Nut 24 replied to LLS10's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Gotcha. Top 3 are going to be very strong for sure. Then 4 & 5 next in line, then decent drop off to 6-12 in my opinion. -

The rankings above have Cooper 3rd. Are you saying that is an underestimate? I'm personally very high on Cooper as well but hard to put them ahead of Newport and Cov Cath at least pre season. Just my opinion. -

Holy Cross travels to Ryle on December 1st so we should see how those 2 teams stack up against each other. I do think my Indians will need some time to get the young guys varsity experience but should get better and better as the season goes. They have a nice group of young players. It should be another fun season as there is so much talent in the 9th region again this year. Best of luck to all teams! -

Great write up LLS - I also agree there is a big drop off after the top 5. As a Holy Cross guy I also hope new head coach Ricardo Johnson can get/keep this team in that next tier from 6-10 all year. They lost virtually all of their scoring losing their their starting 5 including obviously Jacob Meyer. They do have a nice group of young players but will need time to develop and gain varsity experience. Outside of Cov Cath in the 35th, I think they still have a great chance to make the region in February as they will battle with BW and Holmes for that second spot.
