Tonight the Boys 9th Region All "A" Classic starts at Holy Cross.

If the chalk holds it would setup for a St. Henry/Newport & Holy Cross/Beechwood semifinal round on Friday night. Who wins? And if there is an upset who you got?

Tonight - Beechwood/Heritage 6:00 pm, Villa/Dayton 7:45 pm

Tuesday - St. Henry/Ludlow 6:00 pm, Bellevue/Newport 7:45 pm

Wednesday - Beechwood/Heritage vs NCC 6:00 pm, Villa/Dayton vs Holy Cross 7:45 pm

Thursday - off day

Friday - Semifinals 6:00 pm & 7:45 pm

Saturday - Finals at 7:00 pm

 

I think that Holy Cross wins it this year over Newport in the final. Beechwood won the A last year, knocking off St. Henry, NCC, and Holy Cross, before upsetting the heavy favorites Newport in the championship game. The Tigers have their work cut out for them if they want to repeat, especially with the favorite Holy Cross likely waiting for them in the semifinals if the Tigers can get past New Cath.

Just a feeling, but I see New Cath taking Beechwood down in the quarter finals.

I think getting players fully back from injury/illness is something to consider - Brady Gabbard for Holy Cross, Owen McCormack for Beechwood, and Amontae Lowe for Newport.

I’m not sure on that as that is outside my pay grade. Lol

But at the minimum we will have Holy Cross Radio for the HC games and possibly both games of Friday's semifinals.

NewCath has shown this season it can keep up with the teams they play,  buuuuut they simply make to many self inflicted turnovers. Once they get squeezed a little on offense they’ll just throw the ball up an hope a Breds player gets it. If they can get away from that they have a chance In a lot of their games. Good luck to everyone, I very much enjoy the All “A”, which wouldn’t have started without the leadership and foresight of the late Stan Steidel.

Game #1 - If Amontae Lowe plays for Newport I give the edge to the Wildcats. But if he is out again, I think St. Henry can pull off the upset.

I'll be calling game #2 on Holy Cross Radio so if you can't make it down to the gym in person you can listen live to that. Holy Cross is the favorite vs Beechwood but that doesn't mean anything. The Tigers have been playing well. Hoping for two good games tonight at the Finn Activity Center.
