Covington Holy Cross 80 Newport Central Catholic 43 (9th Region - All A Classic Championship)

Featured Replies

Final from St. Henry and the 9th Region All "A" Classic.

* Holy Cross improves to 16-1 on the season winning their fourth straight 9th Region All A Title. The Indians will return to the state tournament next Wednesday (Jan. 22 @ 10:00 am) playing the winner from the 5th region (Bethlehem/Green County winner) and look to defend their back-to-back state titles. Holy Cross Radio will be there to cover the game live next week.

Unofficial stats...

HC 18 27 27 8 - 80

NCC 10 16 11 6 - 43

Holy Cross (16-1) - Nelson 17, A. Arlinghaus 16, Carter 13, Johnson 12, Williams 9, Rhodes 5, P. Arlinghaus 4, Lehmkuhl 3, Whitacre 1.

NCC ( 9-7) - Eaglin 17, J. Brannen 9, Cole 8, McFarland 5, K. Brannen 2, Schill 2.

Field Goals - Holy Cross 32/62, NCC 15/35

3-Point FG - Holy Cross 14/26, NCC 1/9

Free Throws - Holy Cross 2/7, NCC 12/17

Turnovers - Holy Cross 14, NCC 30

27 more shots is a wild disparity.  30 turnovers certainly would have contributed to that.

Thanks for posting and the stat summary Nut.

? ? Indians' All 'A' Round 1 opponent is Bethlehem. Per Banshees' social media, they defeated Green Co. tonight.

Holy Cross Radio will be there next week for that first round matchup in Owensboro. Both regions could make a serious argument that they each got a terrible draw. I agree with them. Lol....All that being said this will be a great matchup of two teams in the Top 10-12 of the state. They will be the two highest ranked teams in the All "A" State Tournament playing in the first round.

Holy Cross wins this game by double digits, too much quickness and depth.

And the 3rd highest ranked team gets the winner in the quarters and in their hometown.  #Gauntlet

Does anyone know if Owensboro Catholic play their home games at the Owensboro Sports Center or another site?

Per The Riherds Scoreboard, it looks like all of their home games have been there this season. In the past, it's been only for city/county games and marquee matchups.

And if I believe if both HC and Brossart win their first two games they meet in the semifinals.  It is really hard to beat a team three times in one year.  #gauntletXL

Agreed. Macy will score 25 but HC wins big.
