I agree. Fire the coaches and administrators. Don't allow them to coach a KHSAA sport again, and punish the program with a lack of post season participation. Then everyone is paying a price.

The kids are part of a program that is involved in wrongdoing. Therefore, the program needs to suffer a punishment. What happened to Lexington Catholic and LCA after they both got caught cheating? In the grand scheme of things, nothing but small fines paid. There were no punishments rendered that taught any sort of lesson. Elimination from post season play would have taught a lesson.

I have a problem with this line of thinking. The punishment that fits the crime is suspension from post season play IMO. You teach a lesson that cheating will cost you the chance at championships with this form of punishment. The problem is that the KHSAA has never sent a harsh enough message to those that have been found guilty. Small fines and suspensions for coaches just don't do the trick. Taking away playoff opportunities and championships would do the trick. Sometimes the group has to pay for the mistakes of a few.

It doesn't split like in Ohio. In Ohio, some school's male and female sports are different classes for the same school based on a difference in male and female pop.

However, as I am sure you understand, building new schools hurts athletic competition.

KY classification is based on overall student population. I know that Ryle is around 1700 and Colerain is well into the 2000's. Boone County will not allow a high school to get that big. Once they do, they build a new high school.

You are putting a lot of stock in a bad Cooper performance in which the team had a major letdown and Cooper played really well. I look forward to Ryle meeting SK. The rusults will be the same as they have been every time the two teams have met, save three in their history. A Ryle victory.

Colerain is much larger than Ryle. Check the numbers. The student populations aren't even close.

How does SK get these teams to play them?? Thats right, no one has any fear of SK.

There are a lot of mouths running about Ryle right now. We will see if that continues the next couple of months.

I say you are being ludicrous. You barely beat Boone last year. St. X would have beaten Scott Co or Boone by 28-35 last year.

Why wouldn't they want to play Boone or Ryle for the same reason? They have gotten players from both programs before.

It is weak this year. However, for at least two out of the last five years NKY 6A has had one of the best three teams in 6A. Lets call it what it is. Despite the rough start last week, Beechwood won't schedule Ryle and NCC has dropped that scheduling. There is a difference in the physicality of the program. As far as NKY 6A being weaker than other districts, when is the last time NKY hasn't had a team at least in the state semi finals?

When Ryle beat Highlands two years ago, Ryle had five players playing both ways.

I agree with almost everything you said in this post. As I have said, this advantage exist in many levels, and many of them you just mentioned. As seen by their number of transfers, very few seem to be concerned with going to a small school in this area.

Over Dixie, no. Check out the same lets say for a Campbell County, or at worse a district that doesn't even take tuition students with their policy. There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of the differences, but the differences exist. As far as LN's post go, I said in my post that those districts get less Seek money from the state, but the generosity of their local tax payers more than makes up for it, still giving them an existing advantage over an area where the inhabitants won't vote in extra taxes. There is nothing wrong with using it, but it does exist.

Trinity has three D linemen and a Mike LB that have been getting heavy playing time since they were Soph. I don't think the grind it out and run clock gameplan will allow you to score the points needed to beat them.

I communicated with someone who knows more about the subject than I do. They explained to me that every district is given an amount of Seek and ADA money per student. Most district will let the ADA money transfer with the student who pays tuition, however, they will keep the seek money. The charged tuition is usually to make up for the Seek money lost when the student comes to the new district. Small independent district's whose local inhabitants vote on extra local taxes for their district receive less Seek money, and therefore, can afford to charge much less on their overall tuition to allow a student to come to their district. Most public County Schools make their tuition the total amount of their Seek and ADA money, which is usually combined to somewhere between $5800 and $7000. Therefore, due to the generosity of their local tax bases, the two independent school districts that we have been discussing are able to charge a much lower tuition.

I would disagree. I would think the bottom line on this category is that all public schools lose some kids to private schools. Only a few public schools in our area have the policies or the resources to attract out of district students. I say it is good for those schools, and if other schools don't like it, find a way to change your policy or to compete. However, to say there is not an established advantage to being an independent in a wealthy area whose inhabitants are concerned with football is really false.
