How beat up is Beechwood?

Featured Replies

I understand a lot of players sat out the last scrimmage as a precaution but I also heard Nussbaum has a fairly serious knee injury.

Do the Tigers have the depth to overcome their preseason injuries?

Just read Naussbaum out 3-4 weeks. Sounds like trouble for Tigers.

I see a long year ahead without his services. You don't replace a kid of his caliber

There are very few if any teams that would not miss a Nussbaum. You don't take a D1 prospect off any team without missing him. That being said, perhaps the deepest postion in quality for Beechwood is running back. Erdman is an all star level talent. Thomas is explosive. There are a couple other more than capable backs that can help fill the void. LB will be more difficult to fill but if the others are healthy enough to play, which I have heard they are, then Beechwood will be able to put a quality defense on the field as well.

Injuries always hurt the small schools more. See Beechwood vs. Mayfield 2011 when Davis was knocked out of the game. See Mayfield vs. Hazard in the state championship when Jackson played at 50% at best. No Nussbaum will hurt but all you can do is adjust and step it up like the Reds did when Votto went down.

If BW is so deep, then why so many kids playing two ways? Very interesting that you are so deep in the backfield.

Seen where there roster has only 24 players. Not believing anything about naussbaum till I see him in street clothes. Hope for him he comes back soon. Erdman is a major threat every time he touches the ball. Roster only counts SR. and Jr.'s.

Class A teams have alot to overcome when they lose a player the caliber of Nussbaum or Jackson. You may plug a good player in there but it won't be a great player.

Beechwood varsity has 50 players.

Deep at one or two positions, and RB is one of them. Are you begging for another worthless xfer discussion? BW has to play kids both ways, don't have the #s. That said, I have watched some D6 schools platoon just to say they platoon, and that ends up hurting them by watering down the talent. Read that Swanson is not playing O for SK. That, IMO, is really dumb. It's HS, get your best 11 on D and best 11 on O on the field. Doesn't have to play every play both ways, but some at a school lacking in playmakers like SK seems to be the right thing to do.

That means they could be 2 deep at every postion no excuses!

Better yet......they could be 28 deep at one position. Parallel logic.

Just repeating what the state website states.

Injuries or not bottom line SK wins.

Nussbaum will not play. That I promise.

They might not "miss" Max at running back but they will miss him at LB.
