  1. Me too....Now that is funny!!
  2. Absolutely...Well done! Who did they beat? What were the scores of their games? Did they take any charge's?
  3. BTW...Best of luck to BB and NCC tomorrow. May the best team win. Know kids on both teams. Hope everyone comes through it injury free.
  4. OK, if you say so. But it is. Obviously, you are not paying attention at the freshman games....I have seen/heard it. My sources are good. No worries. I don't care either way...Just stating the facts. I will not comment on this again going forward. Just not that important to me. Just think that they should focus more on the defense/positioning than the theatrics. Just my opinion. That is what this forum is for....correct?
  5. Nope....Absolutely being taught. If I am an official, I am not, particularly HS official, that just makes me doubt what I am seeing. Wonder if it is just a good acting job....Not to mention, it might scare the _ _ _ _ out of me. Beat them to the spot, stay out from under the basket, you get the call. Do not need the theatrics.
  6. They work on it all right....They have to get that "ARGGGG", yell/scream, just right too or they will sit. I wonder if the officials get tired of that kind of stuff. The yelling and screaming stuff is obviously being taught. Perhaps they should teach them to get to their spot sooner. That, the screaming, sometimes stimulates the fans a bit too. Perhaps it is the screaming that is making it seem a bit closer....I am sure the officials were not out to get anybody. Sometimes you get the calls, sometimes you don't. There were likely things that could have been done differently/better that would have eliminated the need to harp on these "three" calls.
  7. Highlands played their reserves against Elders reserves in the 1st qtr. HHS has 12, Elder brought 15 players.
  8. Elder brought both. The B team's (HHS and Elder) played the 1st qtr in the HHS v Elder match-up.
  9. In my opinion it is not a product of the middle school or high school. It is a product of the elementary schools NOT sponsoring teams. At the elementary level is where you gain the fundamentals, work ethic and love for the game, regardless of what that game is. Yes, some of the schools provide gym time, but there is no elementary school sponsorship, support, etc.. There is elementary school leagues. So, it is not that there is a lack of options. Just a lack of support. Typically, it is up to volunteer parents to put together an AAU or school team, find a league, etc.. Perhaps more support at the elementary school level would be beneficial. Just a thought....
  10. The elementary school students play AAU because the elementary schools in Ft. Thomas do NOT sponsor school teams. That is an issue. Could be lack of volunteer coach's...Not sure. But that is a big part of the problem.
  11. Have to agree with Clyde. While a new gym would be nice, a kid either wants to, or can, play the game or does/can-not. I have a boy that plays both football and basketball. IMO it is cyclical. The middle school teams are playing hard and working on basics...Heck, I was at a 6th grade HMS girls game and they have 14-16 girls on that team. I have coached numerous teams, in multiple sports, and can tell you that I would NOT want that to have to work out playing time with that group. It is a sign of the times. Back in the early to mid 80's boys played 2-3 sports without issue. Today, kids are focusing on 1, maybe 2. Right or wrong, it is a sign of the times. Football is king at HHS. From the high school level to the pros....look at the tv ratings for football games (college and pros). It is what it is. Football rules and not just at the high school level. Would love to see a new gym (coming in phase 3) and more interest in hoops at HHS. But HHS is basically following the trend...It is NOT a coaching issue. Coach Flynn was at open gyms at the middle school every week following basketball season last spring. Good guy, good coach.
  12. So, who ya pickin'? Go Birds...Beat Colonels!
  13. Home fans were leaving in droves to start the 4th. The Black Bears played their hearts out, but in no way, ever threatened in this game. The outcome was never in question in the second half. Congrats to the the Bears on a great season. Go Birds...Beat CC!
  14. Maybe. Outside of Collinsworth, however, not sure the others can/will play a 4/5. Christian, I am told is focusing on football (going to be a good one). Hope may end up being a football, only, athlete as well. Still nice to see him do well. The others are NOT likely to play inside (4/5). More likely 2/3's IMO.
  15. Just like UK, Duke, North Carolina basketball, Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida football, etc., a small but vocal minority of fans over a number of years paints a picture of an entire fan base that is not so flattering. I suspect if you base your opinions on actual interactions with fans rather than "anonymous" postings and reputations, you will get a better read. Well said JPA!! :thumb:
  16. He is. Seth had a nice scrimmage at North Laurel today. Bunch of boards and 9 points with the varsity/jv squad(s). Looks like HHS has some solid players. Alex Dean had a sick spin move in the paint and Conner Crowley posted a solid game as well for the Birds today. Egan (? spelling) is a shooter. Man, better not let that kid set his feet. Stewart is still nursing an injury. Should be ready for opening day in a couple of weeks I am told. Frosh are making progress too. Drew Houliston and Ryan Green had a nice scrimmage for the frosh. Brandon Hergott, Seth Hope and Tyler Schweitzer were all over the glass. The Birds will be fun to watch this year. The Birds will make you work that is for sure. Coaching staff is doing a nice job with this unit.
  17. Oh yes it was....I pulled up in the lot and there was a certain "twang" in the air. It was a great atmosphere! Fun game to be at....Particularly because the Birds won!!
  18. And what would our boys have that yours don't? Sounds like new facilities are in the future there due to a very generous donation....That is fantastic news for Harlan (I mean that, by the way). Wow, what the Birds could do with that. The frosh dressed on the bus and stood outside this past Friday night during pre-game and half time at JC...Guess we should expect more of the same...No worries. The Birds will be there. You won't have to look far to find them. Go Birds...Beat Bears!
  19. I second that!! Better yet, how about a 1 PM start?? Or 3 PM? Doubt the home team will go for that. Go Birds...Beat Bears!
  20. With the bus breaking down yesterday, the drive to JC was about that long....The HHS D fared pretty well last night.
  21. I am sure you do. Ryle was the better team! Should be a good one with T. Good luck Ryle! Go Birds!
  22. Hmmmm...Well done Ryle!!
  23. Streeter and True in the backfield. Mccoy got a series at QB in the 2nd half.
