  1. Years ago Henderson County was the biggest school in the state. I haven't kept up with them in a while. They used to be very good in football. The point made earlier that only 11 of 32 6A schools are outside the Lex., Louis., N.Ky area is just a reflection of the population centers. Not sure there's any real solution.
  2. Absolutely agree. Although I'm unfamiliar with other big rivalries in E.Ky (Pikeville-Prestonsburg) or W.Ky (Hoptown-Christian County), St. X v Trinity has to be the biggest marquee game Ky has to offer year in, year out.
  3. As the population in and around Walton and Verona grows, the ability to compete on a yearly basis in 1A will grow as well. I agree with VOR that Beechwood will take this one handily. Walton and Brossart are the 2 small school programs in N.Ky that have improved the most over the last couple of years.
  4. If Highlands were to run the table and shut out everyone in the process I think that still might not be good enough for some, including the founder... The game was impressive on a number of levels. Why some try to compare this year's squad to other great HHS teams in the past is beyond me. Let the young men play and after the season is over the comparisons can begin.
  5. Highlands is too strong on both sides of the ball. Pike will try to do too much. Highlands in a running clock in the 4th quarter. Final Birds 56-7.
  6. Great programs find ways to win -- Period. Good luck to both programs as they look forward to WKU in December.
  7. FINAL From the box score it looks like Dixie ran roughshod over Scott last night. The 2 RBs combining for 6 scores. Did they throw the ball much? Maybe they're holding back a bit in anticipating of the next Friday's tilt at Edgewood,
  8. wasn't @ the game but my crack sideline reporter told me the very same thing - tackling was poor on both sides.
  9. Not surprised at all with this outcome. Although I have not seen the stats, Boone looked very suspect vs. the pass vs. HHS and they are simply too one dimensional on offense to keep the defense honest. Like LN I wish Coach Thompson the best to right the ship in a hurry.
  10. Rams by one in this one... after all 1 is all you need.
  11. That's quite the post. NewCath's recent struggles vs. Campbell County aside, I predict NC wins by 2 scores, 28-14.
  12. Pike pads his stats in this one if he plays the whole game. Likely not though as the HHS-Dixie game is the following week. Dixie wins 49-14.
  13. After seeing Davis on film, I agree with BPiccolo that Elliott from Ryle is the more punishing RB. From the small sample size I observed, Davis seems to be a project for UK. Defensively he appears to take plays off. As for the game, HHS 49, Eastern 14.
  14. That was my thought exactly. The Defense in the 2nd half of the Ryle game as outstanding. The Birds have overcome injuries to some key players and have done very well.
  15. Wow Those are pretty strong words. Would that include your beloved Neers?
  16. I would be shocked if NCC agreed to a game with Highlands, new regime notwithstanding.
  17. Colin reminds me of a former # 4 for the Birds a few years back - Jordan Kremer. Fast as a water bug. The future keeps getting brighter for the Birds!
  18. When his receivers are covered he has run very effectively the last couple of starts. OL for HHS played great and downfield blocking was outstanding. The block by Sheehan to spring Towles on his long TD run was impressive!
  19. I think LN's question was "What do others do when YOUR football team has a bye?" Now how can you watch your team -- SK for the newer BGP members out there -- beat Ryle if they're on a bye? I know you're suggesting that anyone with a bye on Oct. 8th come see SK play Ryle. What do YOU do uk#1fan when SK is on a bye?
  20. Great Post. That's exactly why the FTJFL is such a good league. Keeping a youngster's interest even if they may not be the best on their 3rd/4th or 5th/6th team is the key.
  21. It's a virtual kalidescope of colors at DCM Stadium on Thursday nights... and yes, some of the jerseys are a tad bit tight.
  22. Highlands wears their FTJFL jerseys on Thursday nights during pre game practicies.
  23. I like your consistency Alan60 - close games throughout the Commonwealth. All wins by one. Good luck to your St. X Tigers vs. Male this weekend. I'll take X - BY ONE - in your honor
