  1. If Ryle falls behind early in this one and are forced to pass, the Raiders will be in for a long night @ DCM Stadium. Haven't heard if Elliott has matured since last season. He seemed frustrated at times last season when he wasn't having his way carrying the ball. A couple of times vs. the Birds he seemed to lose his temper. He'll need to keep his composure on Friday night for the Raiders to stay in the game. As for a prediction, I think the Birds win 49-28.
  2. I would say 60-40 run-pass ratio on this night. In the 2nd half there was no need to throw. Towles didn't play after the 3rd quarter.
  3. While a competitive games between Covington Catholic and Ryle is good for all of N.Ky, I sense this year will not be as competitive as I would like. Raiders 42, Blue Colonels 20.
  4. Thanks TOG. I'm new to this blogging game. Still like Dixie in a low scoring game.
  5. Predict a relatively low scoring game between the Breds and Red Colonels. On paper you'd have to give the edge to 6A Dixie vs. the smaller 2A Breds. If Pike is half as good as he's been predicted by many to be, Dixie should be able to pull this one out. I'll go with Dixie 21-13.
  6. America's a great country isn't it. Well said Bpiccolo!
  7. Hope my car temperature gauge was wrong since it read 100 degrees at 2:00 p.m. It's fixing to rain here in Covington so maybe that will also help cool things down a bit so all the scrimmages can start on time.
  8. Given what I've heard about CC's varsity this year, I think you may be correct.
  9. Tristatefootball.com just came out with its preseason rankings and DH Jr. Zeke Pike was named 1st team best athlete. It'll be interesting to see if he is able to progress as a QB or will end up being a TE or O-lineman in college. As for the scrimmage, I think Ryle will likely take this one by a couple of scores.
  10. HHS will be ready to go. Although the game won't count in the standings, the players aren't treating it as a scrimmage. Let's hope both of these perennial powers get through the game with no serious injuries.
