  1. That will certainly be a good game for Dixie's gate receipts - October 1st at Dixie... although a lot of football remains to be played between now and then.
  2. I guess the competition between Boyle and the newly structured 4A class will only be good for 2011 and 2012 then?
  3. So some of those "offers" received by Pike and others may be nothing more than a verbal statement that we want you at Florida, Alabama, etc...? I would have thought it would be more formal than that. Whether offers or not, it looks like several of this year's Jr. class will be playing at big time schools in the fall of 2012.
  4. My guess is that Pike already has offers from several schools, and Towles does not. From a glance at that scout.com site, it looks as if Pike went to camp after camp this past summer and made a good impression on several schools. Although as a relative novice to BGP, I'm not sure what receiving an "offer" means. Does that mean coach so- &-so wrote a letter to recruit that we are offering you a 4 year football scholarship or was told at a camp that you are being offered such a scholarship? For instance, if a athlete gets a letter from the University of Florida _____ that we'd love to see you in a Gator uniform, is that considered an offer?
  5. Were those the only 2 in KY for 2012? What position was Pike listed as (QB, LB, DE)?
  6. N.Ky has a very deep stable of QBs this year, who can throw and run. It will be interesting to see how many play QB in college and where they end up. The Highchew kid from NCC should be in the conversation as well. He's had a good year so far.
  7. I agree with you Bluesport re: Boone. Agree re: T, X, and HHS. Disagree re: CovCath based on their recent difficulty advancing in the 5A playoffs (and before other BGP posters say they won a state championship in the past few years). Historically CovCath has been right there with the best 5A schools in the state and hopefully will get back to that level. I just don't think you can objectively say they're 1 of the state's best 16 teams right now.
  8. Although a program on the rise, until they beat X or T, they'll still be on the outside looking in. I hope they can take them but both X and T look very formidible this year.
  9. I understand that the losses from the 2 sacks are attributed to the QB's rushing totals - seems like an odd rule.
  10. Running the ball up the middle with 15 seconds left up 15 seems a bit excessive. Taking a knee was the classy thing to do. At the end of games with a lead the QB routinely takes a knee. Does Spritzsky have a reputation for not doing that??
  11. Once again Coach Mueller made adjustments and the Birds prevailed vs. the most athletic 0-3 team I've seen in a while. Patrick Towles is the fastest 6'5" 230 pound QB around. He looks like a gazelle out there. He probably ran for 200+ yards and scored 4 rushing TDs. Hope Josh Quillen (#29) isn't out for too long. Looked like a right ankle injury from my vantage point. With Compton sidelined again tonight, Jake True and Jordan Streeter did a nice job rushing.
  12. Yep. From the poster who picked Boone's frosh to beat HHS Freshman by 1 yesterday. There's a reason the Rocks and Birds are tied atop the heap with 19 rings... Both are great teams with great tradition.... and the scrimmage earlier this year was a real donnybrook.
  13. Can't wait for the CovCath-HHS freshman game. It should be a good one with the way they've been playing this year.
  14. I'll be the 1st of many to make this prediction - Highlands in 5A.
  15. Is Ryle the clear favorite to win NKY 6A? Absolutely. Although very talented, SK lost a D-1 RB in Simpson and it would be an upset of fairly modest proportions if SK were to knock off Ryle this year.
  16. CovCath's roller coaster season continues with a tight win vs. CC. I'll say Colonels 28, Camels 20. Saturday afternoon in Park Hills... hope the weather is brisk and clear... perfect for a high school football game.
  17. As for the game, I think Ryle will win in a hard-hitting battle. Raiders 35 Thoroughbreds 28
  18. Good Point re: Hemple. If I were NCC I would put eight in the box and try to keep Elliott from getting outside. His long runs vs. Highlands were on plays when he was able to get outside. NCC has good DBs and I would make Hemple throw the ball.
  19. #1 is Ty Seidl. Pound for pound one of the toughest HHS players.
