  1. A talented Freshman HHS group goes out undefeated... and ready to help with reinforcements for JV and Varsity. There are more than a couple of kids on this year's freshman team that will play major roles on varsity next year.... Schweizter, Harris (LB), Hayes (RB) to name a few... As for the game, I think it will be closer than the 1st game, which ended up getting away from CovCath in the 2nd half. What looked like simple runs turned into 70-80 yards to the house. HHS 36, CC 22.
  2. With Dale at the helm, no excuses will be made, except by BGP posters... As he said after the game, Highlands plays for state championships, and #20 is 5 wins away. Great win for Ryle last night. Rankings are great fodder for blogs but the significant games start next Friday night. Good luck to both Ryle and HHS in the playoffs.
  3. IMHO, there will be 2 NKy teams playing for state championships, Highlands in 5A, and NCC in 2A. Ryle will be right there but Trinity looks really talented this year.
  4. I saw in the paper the time of possession was about 20 minutes in favor of Ryle. From early in the 2nd quarter to midway through the 3rd quarter I don't think the Birds Offense even saw the field. The game was a blueprint for beating the Birds, grind out possessions and the clock. Kudos to Hempel. Great game by that young man. Towles is the real deal, showing leadership on those last 2 drives. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs!
  5. More fun to stay @ home and watch DVDs of past Neers' games...
  6. I would doubt that Warner would allow the game to be moved to Ft. Thomas. Let's hope the game is played as scheduled.
  7. Never understood Whackem's statement with that one. Football is 11 on 11, and no one player, even an important one, will make or break the game. So long as HHS gets back to gang-tackling instead of trying to blow up the ball carrier, the result should be an HHS win.
  8. Any Northern Kentucky HS football fan would rather have a locally based Regional Final game (& a rematch with CovCath to boot) than a 3 hour trip down the Mountain Parkway to and from Paintsville. I think you would agree Mr. Wildcat...
  9. Here's hoping for an upset of JC in Paintsville and a return trip to Ft. Thomas in round 3.
  10. After resting half the starters during last Friday's game vs. Scott, you'd think most, if not all of the starters who sat out would be back for this game. The only starter that is out definitely is #29 Josh Quillen, who has been missed on D.
  11. Game will not be "easy" by any means. Ryle has one of the toughest RBs in N.Ky (no disrespect for HHS' Compton) and HHS will have to get back to the gang tackling that has made them so successful. The paper said 11 starters were out for the Scott game. The first game was close through 2 quarters with HHS pitching a shutout in the 2nd half. I think this game will be similar. HHS 28 Ryle 20
  12. Is that the same Henry Clay team that lost earlier in the season to Boone County?? Wow, Lexington HS football is really down this year...
  13. Great for him. I saw Dayton on their schedule and figured they were at the same level. Sounds like a perfect fit for him.
  14. Good for him. From the looks of their schedule this year and last (one win), I am sure Adam will see a lot of action. Is Valpo a D-III school?
  15. Amen brother. I have a friend who is an SEC referee and he says the exact same thing.
  16. With everything going on this week with the KHSAA ruling and adopting the 2011-2014 realignments, there's been no thread on this game... Predictions? As for this poster, HHS 56 - Scott 7.
  17. You certainly are a source of information guru... lawyers in the industry call them CIs.
  18. It's likely a moot point since the chances of a Boone upset of Ryle are highly unlikely this year.
  19. Not having followed this young man's season, is he close enough to the state single season record for his coach to let him go for the record in the ensuing games
  20. what does this win for MC do to the district standings with JC, Montgomery County, & the Tomcats??
  21. As we saw in the Dixie game, Highlands primarily rushes their 3 down lineman, which gives the QB time to make throws. While he did throw 3 INTs, he did expose the middle of the HHS defense with some good throws. In a rematch I'd expect more blitzes by the D. Would have liked to have seen Towles throw more than 13 times. Good luck to both teams in the 5A playoffs.
