two bad teams

I think they fit perfectly into the same sentence when comparing them to Highlands Basketball. They are far superior. Not sure why you have to bring religion into it. CCH and NCC are the two teams I root for. They happen to be Catholic schools but I have some SK in me as well by marriage. If you want my full bio I am happy to give it to you. Read a little bit more and you might be enlightened. Just today I praised Qryche for his scathing review of HHS basketball. At least he had the stones to challenge his team for more and hopefully make them better. I applaud that. I don't see that in you....

As I have stated on prior threads, either the 7th is really competitive or really average, or both. I mean, if Male is your top Dog and Trinity #2, this is a down year for this Region. Male is struggling vs. lesser teams and Trinity just cannot handle the 11th region. I think they are ok, by no means bad, but certainly beatable. I like the 9th region champ to beat them in the opener this year at State.

Disagree. I don't see the talent. One, maybe two players. Maybe some athleticism, but you can't erase some of the bad losses they have had. They are who we thought they were. Barely hanging above .500. They might play a half vs. CCH but I just don't see a threat, regardless of last game between the two.

Umm, he committed #5 on an open court reach and jumped up and down like a 5th grader (with all due respect to 5th graders) then uttered the magic words for all to hear. It was as deserving a T as the refs handbook will ever advise. Player had a bad night, was outplayed by the other teams rising star, and his team could not deal with immense defense. Add it all up and you can figure the reaction.

Rod Snapp told me in person the mid season incident was well overblown. Bad deal, but nothing close to the heresy that was reported. However, him being in and mostly out of the lineup gives me pause....... Either way, I think Newport makes the regional. If he plays, they could be a tough out for a District Champ. Without...not so much.

Sorry, while I like your enthusiasm, I just can't get behind what this team has coming back. Some ok players that haven't won anything. Nothing to really get jazzed about. I mean, CovCath Football sure takes a lot of arrows from the HHS crowd when they mention the pipeline, why should it be any different here in reverse for basketball? When I see a LEGITIMATE improvement, meaning scheduling and beating good teams, then I will be a believer. For now, I have heard the pipeline story too many times. I just don't see them competing with the likes of CCH or NCC in the near future. Time will tell I guess.

I never go by foul discrepancies. Some teams are aggressive by nature and therefore foul a lot. Some teams commit dumb fouls. Some teams play a passive game and win with finesse. Brossart, while not big in nature or deep on the bench, plays a rugged style. Joey Hickman with a nice 13 points and his usual defensive stalwart effort. They play to the limit at times. Tonight, Mason flat out just was a step behind and fouled a lot. Pig was bad and it affected the whole team. I wish the royals the best, but Brossart was the better team tonight. It wasn't close and it wasn't the refs.

Wow. This coming from a Mason County guy. Are you really going there? Brossart plays well at home because they play the best defense in the State. (along with CovCath and NCC). They shut down the Pig as he and the Royals were led to slaughter. The real story once again was Jackson Crawford as he "drops the mic", hamming it up on the Pig and the Royals going for 31 and 8. If you consider yourself a fan, maven, buff, admirer, aficionado of the game of basketball its time to really consider Jax Crawford for Player of the Year in the 10th Region. This is based on what he has done all year but especially against top competition. (Campbell, Paris, Holy Cross, and now Mason). He is not racking up numbers for a garbage team with an unlimited green light. He is not a volume shooter. Fans of big man moves will love his craftiness around the rim and ability to score with either hand. If you already mailed in your opinion prior to the year then perhaps you go watch another sport. I consider most Mason County fans to be the most knowledgeable in the State and have met many over the years. I think most would say the same thing. Jackson Crawford dominated when it meant the most. Holmes is terrible. They have no shot against CCH. They have only shown up for a handful of games this year and that is assuming there is a level of talent on this team, which I think is a reach. They were pitiful vs NCC and will get pounded by CCH. Holmes is who I thought they were. A .500 team. I think Holy Cross would have beaten them again. This is not a vintage Holmes team.

Bellevue also pulled a famous (or infamous) upset over a talented NewCath team back in 1982 as they caught an NC squad looking ahead to Highlands in the would be Finals. That one sent shock waves around the region. Bellevue came in with no fear and took it to the Breds that night in a big upset. Bellevue did have some nice players on that team but this one was not expected.

I like to see the anger and the passion from Q-Ryche in this post. No excuses like you often see or how hard kids are trying, injuries, wait till next year, etc. The results aren't there and he's not happy about it. Sounds like a guy who wants more out of his program. Nothing wrong with that. That's just being an honest fan. Good post.

I prefer my crow properly seasoned with a hint of cracked pepper but that only happens when Beechwood makes the Regional and wins a game. For serendipity sake, I'll eat crow if they simply make the Regional. I am aware they just beat Holy Cross and play them again. I like Holy Cross to win that rematch when it counts. (Even though they admittedly are not playing great basketball right now) Sorry, IMO, I have seen too many lopsided results not go BW way, so I have to side with HC. I think they get a few more games under their belt with Bezold and get back to early season form, regardless of playing on the road. Holy Cross wins the game.

This is a terrible way to decide such things. Say what you want about a coin flip, but the "coin don't care". Voting on who the best team is makes no sense, especially when you are tied for first. Why would a coach NOT vote for his team if he is tied for first? A coin flip is random, as it should be. Good to know.

Wow. Jackson Crawford of Bishop Brossart is way to low on this list. Leading scorer and rebounder on one of the top teams in the region with wins over Campbell County, Holy Cross, and Paris and close losses to Murray, NCC, and Augusta. This team and player are battle tested. I know you didn't have the Mustangs or Crawford in your pre-season polls but let's not make the same mistake twice. Crawford is putting up big numbers on a defensive minded team with winning record. He is scoring in games that matter. He is being looked at by Transy, Hanover, and other schools of that ilk. Needs to be moved way up on this list.

Random thoughts from a great game: Coaches from St Pat, Moco, Augusta, etc. please do your due diligence and take a long look at Jackson Crawford for POY or All Region. You're smart coaches so it won't be too hard. Another huge night for Jaxxon Crawford. 29 points. Rebounds, a true team leader. Brossart, CCH, and NCC play the best defense in the State. Joey Hickman is asked to do an awful lot and does a great job on whomever he is guarding. key player. I like the 9th and 10th region winners to win at least the first game down state.

That's Great....I have to agree. I'm done predicting. If anyone gets 10 out of 16 regional winners this year they should get a medal. In the past there were a few locks and there might still be but several regions are up for grabs much more than in the past.

Is this Region really good or just really average? I saw top team Male recently beat Newport by 4, needed a half court heave to beat St. X by 3., and struggled to beat Eastern by 4. Trinity has lost to 11 Region teams Henry Clay, Central, and Dunbar. Ballard is not your typical Ballard year and St. X rounds out the top 4. After that the drop is pretty big. I have not seen any in person but based on some of the scores and results, I think this is a good, but not great region this year. Ballard is down,

There are plenty of nice players in the 10th so yes, let's see how it shakes out. I tend to side with a player who leads his team to victory. With all due respect to others, it's easier to pump up stats on a bad team. That said, the 10th is up for grabs. Should be fun.

I think it is Safe to pick the player headed to a D1 school as you are on the side of a D1 coach who chose him. No worries there. However, I have seen Matt play several times and no doubt respect him as a player and he'll likely get the hardware. But Can Jackson Crawford get a top 5 vote? Considering the teams success I think you do the 10th region a disservice if he's left off the so called ballot. He's all 10th Region for sure based on pure performance and team leadership. Jaxxon Crawford can do it all. If we really are judging on ONE year, he's a definate candidate for POY. It's not a lifetime achievement award.
