Baseball Nut 24 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Heard BW slowed the ball down all night. Anyone who was there able to confirm or have details on how game went. Awful low scoring game. Maybe just an All "A" hangover for NCC?

Lawnboy13 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Beechwood came out in a VERY patient offense, passing the ball all over the court until they could find an open man. To their credit it was a very good gameplan as it worked, quite a few times they were able to find an open man underneath on cuts. On the outside the Breds would not allow many open looks. NewCath on the other hand, had trouble connecting from the land of 3, and had many good looks, but again, the ball just not fallin'. The Tigers grabbed the lead, 33-31 with 5:10 to go, but Ben Weyer evened things up on the next possession. The Tigers again went patient, and after a Weyer turnaround baseline jumper from 10 (and the "and 1"), the NewCath pressure forced back to back 10 second and 5 second violations and the Tigers could get no closer. Brennen Hall continues to become a definite scoring threat when he touches the ball, really like his moves to the basket. Only 1 turnover playing the entire game. Beechwood's game plan was a good one, and was working, plus the double-teaming of Weyer was somewhat effective. Eric Anderson did not play as he has still not gotten over the flu. Breds are right back at it tomorrow night up on the "hill" as they welcome the Cru from St. Henry. JV lost for the 1st time tonight (someone correct me if I'm wrong), 36-33 in OT. The Breds were without Degan Gerding and Trey Wurtz.
frankdracman23 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That had to be a good game plan against a NCC team that has to be on fumes at this point. I would expect St. Henry has a good chance of playing a really close game tomorrow night. It will be what NCC's 8th game in the last 12-13 days?

Just found out, the St. Henry game has been canceled for tomorrow, because of that reason.
justasportsfan Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 They cancelled the St Henry game due to having played to many games in the all A.
justasportsfan Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Low scoring but a fun game to watch. Closer than the score indicates.
2 much info Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Is this an indication that NCC is reeling right now? If so, they still have time to fix it. Play good defense, master fundamentals, and somebody go get a rebound!!!
Clyde Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Weyer had 9 shots and Hall had 16. Did BW do anything to limit Weyer or did NCC just not look to get him more looks?

sportsmaniac Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Maybe Beechwood just deserves some credit. I watched them play Walton-Verona on Saturday and they are a good team.
The Bully Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Weyer had 9 shots and Hall had 16. Did BW do anything to limit Weyer or did NCC just not look to get him more looks? Weyer had 7 shots and Hall 14
