Really liked the book, enjoyed the movie also. Would definitely recommend. I've read some reviews, but think that some critics (websites) of the movie may not have been too familiar with the book. I went in with some reservation on how it would translate to film, but had several laughs and thought it was entertaining throughout. Whether someone has read the book or not, it's still a pretty good movie.

East Jessamine 38 Harrison County 33
Coach651 replied to BlacknGold's topic in KY Football (High School)
Don't know much (or anything, really) about East Jessamine, but seems like a solid start for HC under new leadership. Might take time, but putting up points and competing in their first outing is a pretty good start for the Thorobreds -
Bourbon County job open
Coach651 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Agree that Kendall isn't an option, how does the cupboard look for Bourbon? Any front-runners in mind? Why the turnover in coaches? The football program is doing well. -

Any news from Franklin Co? Definitely a good job, should have a lot of interest from high quality coaches. -
Great Coach, Great Person. Congrats to him and to Rowan Co.

Greatest Single Play in NBA History
Coach651 replied to Clyde's topic in National Basketball Association (NBA)
Maybe not a single play, but my first thought is Reggie Miller's 8 points in 9 seconds vs. the Knicks. -

Montgomery County to the 16th Region?
Coach651 replied to All State Baseball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
It seems like the the 10th has recently been pulled in different directions. GRC and Montgomery should stay. The only change to the 10th should bringing Fleming back to the 10th, otherwise leave it as it is. -
I don't understand the numerous posts bashing an official. If you don't like him or his officiating that's understandable, just give your opinion once and move on. Back to the subject, Is there a full list of officials posted somewhere?

Anderson County 55 Collins 43

Nice win for Anderson! Surprised by this score... Any details? -
I own a pit and know a couple of people who do as well. I have owned very smart dogs in the past and have found that these dogs are as smart as they come. The ignorance of owners often time cause all of the negative reponse for their breed. I understand they have an instinct that requires owners to be as well trained as their dogs. I wish there were as many articles about helping pits as there are about banning them. Any dog can be trained to be violent, it's sad that this breed has been the favorite of morons.

Obvious response is... Does success lead to more input from BGPer's? Does this help a program or cause too much unrest from the ability to post on an open forum? ( I prefer to think that most posts on this site are meant for positive reasons or in the best needs of a program, despite the few negative posts )

Congrats to Woodside

Piarist School 2012/2013
Coach651 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Where is Piarist? -
Do you think coaches prefer many posts about their team/program (shows interest, often times supportive of program), or do you think they're happy to see their thread fizzle out?

Pendleton County Head Coach

Great Coaching career. Just curious, where do you find these stats? Also, I've seen Coach Wise on the sidelines, he should be a finalist. -

Mason County 62 Montgomery County 57
Coach651 replied to bigblueinsanity's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Rainman is right on the money. Wise is a good coach, and his resume speaks for itself. Montgomery Co. is in good hands. 10th region didn't quite turn out as everyone predicted, but the big dogs made it back to the top. Congrats to Mason Co. Should be a great game tomorrow night! -
I've got to agree w CK. Kid's who play against older, tougher competition can really improve their game... Sometimes the adversity from these games (atmosphere, a little pressure, proving themselves..) really develop a player. Street ball is different from organized basketball, but a lot of times kids improve their skills from playing tough games like these. It's not a knock on AAU, but a contrast that can help a lot of players. A lot of players pass up those who are able to play AAU during this age. Of course, it's up to the players to find the competition and be able to keep organized ball as their focus.

Every Player Should Watch This Video
Coach651 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I'm sure that kid feels bad enough... Poor judgement by a kid in a split-second situation. It didn't look to be intentional (in terms of hurting someone). Hopefully both get through this, like GS said, hate for any kid to get hurt. -
I am not associated with either party. I do understand the frustration of Henry Co. fans, they lost a great Coach... Ray Graham is a great person and someone you want running a program. He is a great role model for young students. I'm guessing he went full-blown into a new job, but he also had ties w/ students at a school where he wanted to teach. Good luck to both programs
