Idea for a new football forum

Featured Replies

What about just adding an entire Highlands football forum?? As i scroll in the football forum there are 5 topics on the first page (that i can view from my phone) for HHS football. Several threads about schools varsity teams for next season have 0 replies and many under 10. The HHS freshmen team has almost 90 replies. The HHS faithful sure love BGP, granted i realized that 10 years ago LOL. What do you think about an entire different forum just for HHS football. I know its not going to happen just an idea as I relax watching the Reds game.

Everyone is welcome to start threads about their team. If posters don't want to discuss their particular team, we shouldn't blame another team's fans.

Do you think coaches prefer many posts about their team/program (shows interest, often times supportive of program), or do you think they're happy to see their thread fizzle out?

....had a long reply that I erased due to the fact it may have been a rules violation. All I will say is that the coaches I have spoken with over the years have said sites are great for fans but they wish players would never read them. I'm guessing the quicker a thread fizzles the better they like it...

Too hard to tell. I bet 80% of all coaches in this state read this site religiously but most probably don't want some of the info that gets out on here made public. I am certain they all appreciate kind words about the program.

You haven't been around long enough. There used to be scores more of other posters on here that added to the mix.

Used to be large groups of Boyle County, Danville, Breathitt County, Mason County, Conner, Trinity(yes more than there are now), St. X, Male, Manual, Seneca and others.

I do miss some of the variety that used to be on here, the problem is that many of the formerly dominant programs have fallen somewhat so the enthusiasm of their posters has waned or disappeared.

Obvious response is... Does success lead to more input from BGPer's? Does this help a program or cause too much unrest from the ability to post on an open forum?

( I prefer to think that most posts on this site are meant for positive reasons or in the best needs of a program, despite the few negative posts )

I'll also add that when some kids graduate and move on to college that some posters 'graduate' also.

I know of some Boyle posters who simply moved on when their kids did.

PP92 is right, many posters from this area "Graduated" when their kids did and no longer post.

I think it depends on the school sometimes. I know rockmom's son has been out of Trinity for years and she still is active on here. Many of the most active Trinity posters don't have any students in the school currently. If I remember correctly many of the Boyle County folks back from like 02-04 didn't have kids on the team either.

Not all of them had kids on the team but they did have kids that graduated. Off the top of my head I can think of 5 Boyle posters that had kids that played graduate or they had kids that graduated and they moved on from BGP when their kids moved on from high school. My son graduated in 2012 and I'll still be here but after this year my knowledge and my inside knowledge on the football team drops off dramatically. It's already dropped off from last year. After this year.......

I also know of tons of readers and not posters with Boyle County ties also.

Let's face it, Kentucky High School Football has become pretty uncompetitive. Every year there are only about two or three teams in every class that have an oppertunity to win a title, and its the same teams year in year out, with a few exceptions. As economics become tighter and tighter resources become more limited to many school districts, while the resouces to privately funded programs continues to grow. Thus, you have an overall decrease in interest which is reflected in forums like this.

I agree that involvement with this site has a tendency to come and go due to whether or not a kid is playing HS sports.

I too know lots of BGPers who have moved on since their kids have graduated, however there are some that will forever be a staple of their respected program whether they have kids playing or not and they just wont go away.............

I guess I sorta fall in between as my youngest son and and a nephew are going to be a Soph footballers this yr and I have another nephew who is going to be playing in a few yrs and oh yeah my oldest daughter just had a son a few months ago.

Sooooooooooo, it looks like I will be around for a little while longer.

It must be something in the Blue Koolaid..............................:thumb:

Plus, it is June. Business will pick back up in August. It always does.
