Mason County--Last Ten Years

Featured Replies

Mason County has posted incredible numbers over the last ten years under Coaches Kelly Wells and Chris O'Hearn. Here is the list:

2001 25 - 7 Region Finals

2002 28 - 6 State Second Round

2003 35 - 2 State Champions

2004 33 - 3 State Runner-up

2005 22 - 9

2006 25 - 9 State Second Round

2007 28 - 3 Region Finals

2008 34 - 4 State Champions

2009 24 - 7 State First Round

2010 25 - 7 State Semi-Finals

Mason Co. has posted a 279-57 record winning 83% of their games. Also, two Mr. Basketball winners. Just wondering of this was the best in the state over this decade? I know no other school won two state championships in this time period. I realize that the experts argue whether the decade ends in 2009 or 2010, but was Mason the team of the decade?

Yes Mason was the team of the decade. I think this past year was very impressive what the team accomplished. Yes, the draw did really help them at Rupp this year IMO, but a Final 4 for them wasn't expected by hardly anyone. The only thing I don't know about is the total wins and winning %. It may not be the highest.

We had this discussion last year sometime, and I think the consensus was that yes, Mason County was team of the decade, largely because their second state title put them over the top. They did not have the highest win%, which I believe belonged to Scott County, nor alone with the most region titles, an honor they shared with Warren Central, but overall body of work, I think it is them.

This is an excerpt from one of my posts on the subject, which showed the stats from 2000-2009. The table has its own scrollbar, so you'll scroll within that when you need to move down. This doesn't reflect anything from this past season.

Mason fans just like to bring it up year after year. Everyone knows they have had a great ten years.

Thanks for the stats DragonFire, it is great seeing who ranks where for the past decade on wins and losses.
