  1. I didn't think it would be possible to sellout Thomas More College, however, they did. I was told they were not allowing anyone in without a ticket stub showing you were already in the gym prior to the varsity game starting. The place was simply packed. Great decision to move the game to TMC, it was perfect! Nice touch with the pregame festivities: speakers, baskets, raffles, the prayer that was read by the NDA player (Schellhaas), etc.. Job well done by all that were involved. As for the game, I thought both teams played very well, the first two games could have gone either way, I feel the NDA senior leadership was the difference in those games, when points were needed, NDA really relied on them and they came through. It's a shame both teams won't be able to compete in the state tournament. They are both top 6 teams in the state, in my opinion. Both teams are in the Fall Classic this weekend at Cincinnati Mercy, so they may meet again this weekend. Does anyone know or have anything with regard to this tournament (teams, times, brackets)?
  2. I agree with TOG, even though St. Henry took one on the chin last night (2-1 to NDA), there is a reason they are so highly ranked in the state. They are a very good team with some excellent players! I like the Cru winning the All A State Championship!!!
  3. Nice win NCC!!! The NDA v. St. Henry game is 3 out of 5 from what I've been told..... You are like the magic 8 ball!!!!!! Please don't say 'Hazy now, try again later!!!' I always hated that one!!!!!
  4. Cause = $10 (Breast Cancer Shirt):thumb::thumb::thumb: Atmosphere = $7 (Ticket @ TMC):banana::banana: Seeing top 2 NKY Volleyball teams = Priceless!!! :dancingpa:dancingpa Isn't that how the commercial goes? Should be a great night!!!! Good luck to both teams, just a bit more luck to the paNDA's!
  5. The game Thursday is for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign again (great idea!!). If you would like to purchase t-shirts for the game, they are $10 and you can still get them at Notre Dame Academy. I know they ran out of sizes last year so you can stop by the school and purchase the shirts. I believe what ever shirts they have left over will be brought to TMC Thursday for sale as well. It should be a festival atmosphere at TMC and I'm sure both teams will be excited to play with all the noise, fanfare, etc.. After looking at the common opponents (I know that doesn't paint the full picture), I would have to give the edge to the Pandas. I'll say 3-1 Pandas. Their senior leadership will be to strong in the end (just my opinion). As for the soccer game on Wednesday night, I think it is a flip of the coin on which way that one goes. I'll give St. Henry the home field advantage and say the score will be 1 - 0, with the freshman from St. Henry (Leedom) scoring in the last 3 minutes of regulation to win it. Both goalies will have an incredible game and my prediction is the teams will be again in the playoffs (I know, I'm way out on that ledge on this prediction).
  6. #1 Notre Dame v. #2 St. Henry Is it to early to begin talking about this match that will take place next Thursday 9/24 at TMC? We are T minus 9 days and counting..... (of course, both teams have a couple of games between now and then)... However, it all begins tonight with the freshman game at St. Henry. I believe that game starts at 6pm. Any thoughts on the freshman game tonight or the JV and Varsity matches next week?
  7. The loss to St. Ursula (OH) was a bit of a surprise since NDA beat them three straight at NDA earlier in the week. NDA played well against St. Joe's (MO) in the first game and then the second and third games, as you can tell by the scores, could have gone either way. Agreed, NDA did have a nice weekend and should continue to have a solid year.
  8. Thanks Z!!:notworthy: A little hard to read but better than what we had before. :thumb: Sorry for the typo in the thread title. :ohbrother: I copied it from KyTmcNcc in another thread, so I blame him!:sssh:
  9. Has any information been posted on-line with regard to this tournament this weekend in L'ville? Teams? Pools? Brackets? I can't find it anywhere...
  10. Thanks anyway KyTmcNcc!! I tried to find them as well. Oh well, if you can sneak another peak for the other local schools or if you (and I will do the same) find it on-line, please let the rest of us know.
  11. Are the pools/brackets posted somewhere that you can share the link with us? Thanks,
  12. Grapevine has interviews this week and next..... Then a decision. So, look for something around the 16th. Three good coaches, probably can't go wrong with any of them. My money is still on Kes Murphy, followed by Petroze and then Maile in a photo finish.
  13. Thanks for the update. If that is the case, I'll help Clyde out with his prediction.....This game will be over by 7:45. Went to the HHS v. Ryle game last week and was shocked at how fast HHS was. Collinsworth is a stud, can cut on a dime and outran just about everyone from Ryle. I can't imagine Beechwood will have enough horses to hang with the Birds in this one. HHS - 63 BW - 7 42 - 0 at half!
  14. What happened to St. Henry in the 9th? Did Villa beat them?
  15. Thanks Equus Grevyi for the update. Everything I have read about the top Cincinnati volleyball teams for this year does NOT include any mention of Seton.
  16. NDA steps up in class to take on Cincinnati Seton Saturday, 12:00 noon at NDA. Although NDA has looked unenthused in their last match against Dixie, I look for the Pandas to come ready to play against Seton. Any information about Seton? Looks to be their first match of the season. Prediction: NDA 2 - 0 Hard to predict scores when you don't know anything about the opponent, however, this NDA team seems to be solid this year in every position. Does anyone know if this will be 2 out of 3 sets or 3 out of 5?
  17. Any thoughts? St. Henry seems to have found a gem in Jill Leedom's (Starting Junior - Defensive Specialist) younger sister, Libby (Freshman Forward). Libby has scored 5 of the teams 9 goals (and an assist) this season and Jill has helped shutout St. Henry's first two opponents (Simon Kenton and Conner). Their play, along with Abbey Janszen (4 goals and an assist) and their solid goalkeeper have helped the Crusaders get off to a quick undefeated start. Prediction: St. Henry 4 - Highlands 1
  18. :ylsuper: I agree with you wildcat14 Very interested and I believe is the front runner. I'm still giving 2 to 1 odds it will be Kes!!!
  19. So, nice win for Beechwood over Boone this week. St. Henry and NDA both cruised over Villa and Cooper respectively. Villa with a nice win over BB. Any other games this week worth mentioning? Next week, any big games? I see Ryle is at NDA on Tuesday. Has Ryle played yet?
  20. Any timetable set up for an announcement? We are mid August, I would think they would need someone in place by mid September. Does anyone know if the AD has set up any interviews? My money is still on Kes Murphy....:dancingpa Odds posted anywhere? I'll give Kes 2/1 odds.
  21. As per the other thread, he was the medalist for the All 'A' Golf Regional Tournament (lowest score) and will be competing at state in mid Sept.. I believe, he plays: AAU Basketball, Varsity Golf, Quarterback (last year for freshman), Kicker this year, JV Basketball. He must be a good athlete. Does he play baseball too?
  22. Thanks everyone, I was able to find additional information in the paper. Good Luck to NCC at State! NewCath's Miller medalist Newport Central Catholic sophomore Andy Miller shot an 8-over-par 78 at Devou Park to earn medalist honors at the All "A" tournament Monday. Miller shot a 43 on the front nine, but rallied on the back nine to win first-place honors. Newport Central Catholic won the team competition with a 328. Villa Madonna was second with 336. NewCath will advance as a team to the state tournament at Arlington Country Club Sept. 12 in Richmond, Ky. The area's individual state qualifiers include Villa Madonna seniors Ryan Schroth (79) and David Schuh (79). Beechwood was the defending champion of the team competition All 'A' Tournament At Devou Park Golf Course Team scores: 1. Newport Central Catholic 328; 2. Villa Madonna 336. Medalist: Andy Miller (NewCath) with an 8-over par 78. State qualifiers: Ryan Schroth (VM) 79, David Schuh (VM) 79. Note: Newport Central Catholic's entire team along with Schroth and Schuh advance to All 'A' state tournament Sept. 12 at Arlington Country Club in Richmond, Ky.

  24. Perhaps. Thanks for the clarification. Did NCC when the regional tournament? Does anyone have any details about the All 'A' regional tournament then? Scores, etc.?
  25. Nice write-ups yesterday about the local teams for the volleyball preview in the paper. It's a shame all the schools didn't provide information to help promote the sport, their teams and their players!!!!
