  1. I agree combs 52. Again if the players from Dayton continue to believe and buy into the team philosophy. The Devils may achieve faster results than most outside of Dayton believed. Again I'm not just saying this because Dayton won 1 game. No one expected Dayton to even win a game until they were done playing their 2A schedule. I'm not predicting wins because Bracken is much improved and Ludlow has been banged up. I also feel Carroll and Bellevue are games that Dayton can win. Dayton just matches up much better with teams their size. Plus the line is playing really well. Dayton has some very athletic kids such as Rogg, Horsley, Walker, Smith, and Sparks. So 4 more wins is a reality.
  2. Again I'm not predicting wins, but feel Dayton if they play to potential could be a .500 team before the year is over. That is what this program needs after only winning 3 games in 3 years. This is not based off of last night either. As you can look at my previous post from the winter.
  3. Well here is the info on Dayton. They faced more adversity than any other team in the first few weeks. The night before opening game the starting qb/db broke collarbone in walk-thru. The same week mlb/fb had emergency appendectomy and missed two weeks. They also had two other season ending injuries(ACL/Back). As well as Jay Nellis #53 was out from a torn labrum. They had to start 4 qb's already. That was not by design. Starter done for year. So they started soph QB in the Holy Cross game. He was then not allowed to play and Dayton then started new qb against Lloyd and Walton. However, this week now that DJ is back, Rogg can now go back to qb where most people feel he should have been. It was just he was needed in the backfield at the time. All of those injuries just plagued Dayton as it will a small school. As previous post stated I think Dayton is better than what they showed first three games. If they play well and don't beat themselves they will turn some heads. Last year they scored 60 points and they have matched that already. So while improving they still have a ways to go and the players are playing with class which is a reflection of the coaching staff and the kids being coachable.
  4. You are correct. DJ played last year. Moved to Oregon over the summer. Moved back and was one practice short of being able to play against Walton, because of 10 day acclamation.
  5. Well I agree with everything everyone is saying about Dayton. Much improved team this year. Still have a lot of work to do. I said from the beginning I think Dayton could still be a .500 team. I think they have a shot with Bracken, Ludlow, and Carroll. The Bellevue game should be a dog fight. Everyone can compare the Walton score, but comparing scores is like comparing apples to oranges. Dayton will have there best chance in the last three years. Beechwood will be a very tough game. Newport will present some challenges this week , but if Dayton continues to play smart disciplined football they'll be okay.
  6. Well snapped 15 game losing streak. The Greendevils lined up and ran the ball at will. The offensive line is huge and just pushed Brossart around all night. They have been able to do it the last few games and drive the ball, however tonight they finished drives. They didnt bobble snaps and fumble. By the way they tackled tonight too. That is why they won the game. The most amazing part is they were a classy football tonight. They played the game hard and played it the right way.
  7. Hard to say. Bracken has won Dayton has not. I think it will be a good game.
  8. I agree Dayton is getting better. They still have a ways to go, but you can see the improvement. The offense looked very powerful and if Dayton can finish drives they can still win some games. As you stated they drove it all the way down to the 4 yard line and had 2 bobbled snaps that killed the drive. They have to tackle better. The players are in position to make plays just not making them. Keep your heads up Greendevils things will eventually turn the corner.
  9. Good game by Lloyd. Dayton has to cut out the big plays and quit killing themselves. Fumble on first play. Punt Return from guys not keeping contain. Two screens where they were in position to stop both and they both went for scores. The game was 23-8 at halftime and Dayton ran out of gas. If Dayton can eliminate a bad play on offense each series they will be fine. I saw an 80 yard drive and many other good things on offense. So it is getting better, but still needs work. The kids kept playing hard and the coaches kept coaching. Good Luck boys beat Bearcats I'll be there to root you on.
  10. It's hard to say. Dayton has some key injuries still. I will say this whoever has least amount of turnovers will win. Dayton had 5 and I heard Lloyd a bunch too. So that's the best indicator.
  11. It's better than last year. The few times Dayton did score they went for 2.
  12. Well your already blind. I know it was just a scrimmage, but have you seen what Dayton did last two years against Pendleton then what they did in scrimmage. So I would say there are improvements. Heck they've already scored 39 points and yes 13 came against HC 2nd team. Reality is though they only put 60 points up all year last year scrimmages included. So yes they are better off. I won't comment on schedule, but I guess your team's schedule is real tough too isn't it?
  13. Nicole is 3/5 kicking PAT's. 2/4 in the scrimmage and 1/2 in the Holy Cross game. She will be fine and yes she is one heck of an athlete.
  14. Well after playing the last couple of years I will say this there were no personal fouls on Dayton and it's not the same team . Everyone in Dayton was talking about how good the team looked last week and now bashing everything about them. I was down towards the concession stand and looked out at the coin toss and that was a pretty easy indicator of how things were going to go. Holy Cross was just so much bigger stronger and faster. Holy Cross is going to win some games. I also still think Dayton can win 3-4 games this year which would obviously be an improvement.
  15. Dayton is going to have their hands full. Also losing two starters this week due to an injury tonight and an emergency appendectomy over the weekend. You will see an improved team from Dayton I am sure. It will take a 100% effort and mistake free football to have a chance, but I agree the Devils will in my opinion should turn some heads.
  16. I heard Dayton played ball control offense. With Coach Montgomery at the helm I guess I would expect that. I agree if coach stays there the program will see improvements every year. Again great job guys and girls. I heard they have a girl that kicks PAT's.
  17. Any info on this game. I just heard Dayton won 26-12. Congratulations Dayton Greendevils. I know it was only a scrimmage, but that is something the team needed. I heard it was a different style of football from the last few years.
  18. End season 6-14. Have only won that the past two years.
  19. Derek Holt Dayton's # 5 pitcher. Dayton is scrappy and as I said most improved team in my opinion in NKY. They're competitive now.
  20. I would have to go with the Dayton Greendevils. They have doubled their win total from last year. They are 2-1 in the conference and have been in most of their games. The only games that they did not play well were against Highlands, Campbell County, Calvary, and Lloyd. The kids of Dayton have busted their tails off to improve and get better.
  21. Well they play Holy Cross, Lloyd, Newport, Walton, Brossart, Carroll Cty, Bellevue, Ludlow, Bracken, Beechwood. Winning 5 out of those is very possible. I'm telling you things won't be the same. New kids, new attitudes, new coaching philosophy.
  22. Well I don't see an 0-10 team either. The nice thing is the Devils did not lose anything from last year. There is also about ten more kids who did not play last year that are playing this year. One of them is Thomas Rogg. Look for the Devils to be much improved. I can easily see a 5-5 season. I think can be much better if the kids buy into what the new coaching staff is trying to do.
  23. Thanks. I know the schedule has not been the toughest, but the Greendevils need some confidence. It's better to be 2-0 and not 0-2. Find out what what we are made of this week.
