Dayton starts season 2-0.
-
Dayton won it's season opener 24-0. TR Smith walked the first batter or would have had a perfect game.
-
I heard things are very optimistic in Dayton. The comradre is better than ever and the kids are all buying into what the coaches are doing. Look for Dayton to have one of their best seasons in a long time. Thomas Rogg and TR Smith look to be the players to watch for the Greendevils.

There is no loyalty to Bellevue graduates since Bill Dosch left as supt of Bellevue Independent.
-
I asked Coach Montgomery and he said Bellevue went back to the wings in 1991. However they were yellow with black wings until 1998 and then they switched to black helmets with yellow wings.

Dayton's new Head Football Coach is.................
Devils74 replied to kydlineguy's topic in KY Football (High School)
The AD knew he was looking to be a head coach for football and figured he would get a job somewhere. Thankfully with us, so they came to an agreement when he took the job that he would finish the baseball season out if he got a job. I talked to Coach and he said he'll see how it goes. -

Ridder was contacted and it was joked about the two of them helping coach. However, Mr. Ridder is still working and his job will not allow for it. Coach Montgomery said he will definately use Dan Ridder as a resource. A Bellevue guy who coaches at Dayton and hopefully for a long time. I hope coach Montgomery has the same success that Mr. Ridder had. Your right winning is not everything. Just getting the program back to being respectable and competitve will be nice to see. -

That's because we had unbelievable athletes that were fast and had a great QB in his years at Dayton. Last year 30% of the snaps were rolled or over the head of the qb and plays could not be run. Coach tried 4 different centers 3 different quarterbacks. So that offense does not suit the program now. Not saying its not a good offense, but it does not suit the kids. Seriously last year we were the 3rd worst offense in the state as far as points scored. Again myself and another lineman were out and that would have helped. We had only one lineman start all year on the OL. -

No they are going to run the wing t. That is what was briefly said yesterday anyways. We tried I-pro and Shotgun spread the last three years and had the worst offense in the state. You know running the ball and playing good "D" still works. Just ask Baltimore, Pittsburg, Alabama, Auburn, Ryle, Beechwood, Bellevue. Running the ball eats up clock, limits the opposition plays, keeps the game at hand not getting beat by 50 every week. That Buck Slam O Lead package will be in coach's arsenal I'm sure at least for goalline package. -

Well none of those coaches are still there apparently. Ask Mel Webster what happened and not the town drunk who made these claims. -

Supposed to be a meeting today for football. Coach is going to talk about expectations and other stuff. I'll let you know how it goes. He is going to try and see how many players are going to play next year. -

No coach said that he is to be called Coach, Coach Montgomery, or Mr. Montgomery. I asked him why he was called Cookie and he said it was because he used to toss his cookies before every game. Which I did not know meant to puke. He is trying to change the mindset of us already, which does need to be done. So you will only hear him called coach or Coach Montgomery from us. -

So is he going to step down from baseball job? Going to be awefully tough doing both, but I heard baseball team has 36 kids out this year. He obviously can get the kids out to play and hope that carries over to football. -

Congrats Coach Montgomery. -
I just looked it up for you Tressel. Kevin was 115-58 at Indian Hill . Then was offensive coordinator for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy(2009) Last year he was at Campbell County. Resigned in 2008 from Indian Hill. I have a friend who goes to campbell county and they said he missed practice way too much and when he was there he was on phone all the time.
-
I heard he has bounced around for a reason. Obviously successful coach, but there is a reason you have two undefeated seasons and many more wins and lose job at Indian Hill. Then read what happened at Campbell County this year. I graduate this year and hope they make a good hire to turn this program around.

I have a very close source that says Chad Montgomery and Kevin Sipple are the front runners for the job.

Miles Simpson vs Shaun Alexander
Devils74 replied to CaptainChaos's topic in KY Football (High School)
We ae talking high school football, correct? It is Alexander and a huge gap. But Frisk, Skirvin, Sutkamp, Fred Conrad of Holmes, RB in late 90's from Conner was very good, Elliott, Lubrect of B'wood, Miles' father, and Miles would all be considered great High School players. Remember so much of the college offers are based on potential ans speed. I know Skirvin was offered several D1 scholarships to play LB, because of his lack of speed even though he ran a 4.6. However 4.6's don't get you many offers as a Big Time college RB. -
Kevin Sipple applied for it and is getting some thought. Chad Montgomery applied and interviewed. Those are the two I hear that are front runners!

Campbell County Has Their Coach
Devils74 replied to Keep It Real's topic in KY Football (High School)
16-18 record at Dayton I'm just saying. That was not coaching that group of players was just gifted athletically. That team that went 8-3 was just a good group of guys and anybody could have coached those kids. So don't give him the credit for that. Same at Holmes with that schedule he was playing he should have won that many games. Losing in first round of playoffs this year was a joke. He is a good coach. Problem is he may only be there for a few years and then get up and leave again. Just don't understand why everyone makes him out to be amazing. The coach is the jockey he is only as good as the horse he is riding. -

Wow people he went 4-6 at DHS and 3-7. With that schedule at Holmes he should have won all of those games. Now Highlands and CovCath move down he knows he can't win. Smart to get out of there.
