I would agree that Walton's gaurds are better, but can their bigs play inside with the 3 from Owen? Walton's bigs might have height, but not much mass to go along with it.

Yes it should be a interesting year in the 8th. New coaches around the region, Hicks going back to Shelby, and the smaller schools will have more chance than every to compete agaisnt the larger schools with teams like Gallatin, Henry, and Owen looking to have really good teams. Only problem with that is that those 3 are in the same district so only two of them will make it to New Castle in March. We know Shelby is the front runner as of now, but a team like Owen could make some noise and end up in the region finals or a team like Trimble could upset an Oldham in the 29th. The 8th will be an extremely tough region to win this year.

Owen will control the paint in almost any game and Shelton will provide matchup problems for any team. In the past their current backcourt players do not handle pressure well, but with a new season coming up well see how they have changed. They have to be favorite to win the 8th All "A" and to win the district.

How does his stats compare to the front runners for Mr. Football?

He is over 1,000 yards on the ground, not sure of the number but do know that he is over 1,000. I believe that he is averaging over 5 yards a carry.

The Raiders have a strong sophomore class. The have a couple of key additions in the junior class as well. They only have a couple of players wilth a lot of Varisty experience so they will be young this year. They do have a favorable schedule outside of the NCKC and the district games so that will be good for the young kids to get some experience. Their first 7 games are going to be extremely tough. The Raiders are about a year away from really being a really good team, but they will shock some people this year and win some games that people don't give them a chance of winning as they grow.

I hope Hicks is able to play, he might be the best thing in the 8th region since Jones or Hundley played in the region long ago. Meaning he will have to be favorite for Mr. Basketball in 4 years if he stays heathly.

Has asked Hall or Lewis to join? Lewis us a good player but nowhere close to D1.

I would agree that he is Walton's best player, but he has times where he lets his emotions get the best of him and it takes him out of games for periods of times.

I heard SC will be going back to the Beach Ball classic this year, so they will have the chance to play some of the best teams in the country.

Yager is a good player, but has a hard time creating his own shot and that makes him easy to stop many times. That is why he is not in the top 10. I would put him top 15 though.

There was no shot at the coach or staff, was in fact trying to defend them. Nor did I ever compare the two teams, but rather the current coach's future at Trimble. You are correct the two programs are starting the same, but this coach was left with players that had Varisty experience last year. He also has been blessed with more talent that Poynter was given at Trimble ( more basketball players now playing football). I would also love to know what grievances you might be talking about? None here! I think the grievances are coming from within Bedford, not outside.

Let the coaches and staff do their job. The parents have already ran off a really good coach from Trimble. If would be awful for the kids if there is another situation where the parents and coaching staff are not on the same page. It really is about the kids and allowing them to play for their school. Its not about parents or anyone else in the area taking shots at the coaching staff. The head coach was hired to win games, although he has not done much of that this year, let him do his job. When the district thinks that it is time for a change then you put your resume in and try to get the job. Trimble will be ok in a few years, will they will the amount of games they did when Poynter was there? Who knows, but it will be a rough transition between the coaches because of the the tw different systems. Oh and True, Blue, and Gold would be the last person to turn on the Raiders! Does a heck of a job doing the little things for the coaches to allow them to coach their sport.

Was told by sources in Bedford that the JV QB will be starting tonight's game.

If Trimble can't get a win hopefully they can get some offense going with a new qb in behind center.

I think your on to something here; I thought that last year NO tired to press everyone the entire game and that hurt them.

Does that mean that a teams like Elliot County or Shelby Valley should compete with the 5 and 6A schools from Kentucky( going by football class system)? Elliot County went to the Beach Ball Classic over Christmas break and beat teams that have enrollment of 2,000 kids and Elliot has an enrollment of 320. Size does not have as much factor in Basketball as it does in football. Thats why we do not "class basketball. Conerstone Christian was one of the most underrated teams last year. It's too bad that they could not compete in the 8th because they would have shocked some people. Cornerstone had size last year, I believe they had a 6'6 kid that was getting looks from colleges in the area ( just heard that from a coach at Gtown college team camp). Again If Cornerstone had a team this year they would be in the finals of the 8th All "A".

You are correct. It will be hard to beat Shelby in March at Henry County. Even losing Hicks they are still the fav. to win the region.:thumb:
