Shelby County 2009/2010

Featured Replies

What does Shelby County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Despite the loss of Hicks, this is still the team to beat in the 8th Region - maybe by a big margin. Mike Clark is one of the most underrated coaches in the region, and he has a wealth of athletes, with size and talent. Donovan Johnson has the ability to flat-out take over games. If Shelby has a weakness, it's depth at PG. Norris Beckley was the glue that held Shelby together last year; whenever he left the game, however, Shelby looked lost. But then again, how many teams have TWO stud point guards??

Every starter will return from last year's 8th Region runner-ups (5 juniors started last year) that lost to Anderson County on a buzzer-beating three pointer from mid-court...

The Rockets will also have the motivation of knowing that this will be the last year of one high school in Shelby County. In 2010-11, Shelby will open a second high school - Martha Layne Collins HS - and will have two high schools for the first time since 1975. (Shelbyville Red Devils and Shelby County Rockets were the two schools back then)

You are correct. It will be hard to beat Shelby in March at Henry County. Even losing Hicks they are still the fav. to win the region.:thumb:
