  1. I believe the Nashville Stars Elite won the 17U at Midwest Hoops this weekend.
  2. At Midwest Hoops today, U15 NKY Bulldogs beat the Cincy Buckeyes today 50-37 in their respective championship game.
  3. At Midwest Hoops today the NKY Bulldogs U15 Boys went 1-1 today in the 9th/10th grade division. Lost to Cincinnati Buckeyes 71-67 in Double Overtime. Beat Nashville Stars Elite 71-51 in their 2nd game.
  4. Nky Bulldogs U15 & U14 can be found on the following website http://www.eteamz.com/northernkentuckybulldogs1/roster/index.cfm?subsite=5729210&league=5729167
  5. Top 10 BGP Post of the year!
  6. Agree totally with both! Someone from outside with no ties is imperative! A clean house is a very good thing!
  7. I agree with you that Coach McQueary is a good coach and understands the game, however, the AAU comment is painting with a broad stroke. Additionally, you probably are referring to AAU and meant to say "select". Regardless, I know alot of select teams/programs that emphasize defense and fundamentals.
  8. You're absolutely correct about Barker. He may even should have been included in my top 5.
  9. It's always tough every year to say what freshman teams will be good. It's an unknown because most of your good to great freshman will at sometime during the season playing up, especially at smaller schools. Dixie undoubtedly has the best freshman player, but he will be starting the 2 guard spot for the Varsity. Walton would have a great freshman team, but their 2 best players will be playing primarily varisty and some JV. Brossart has a good freshman class, but I expect because of their upperclassmen numbers, those better players will see JV and possibly varsity time. Campbell has 2 good freshman players, one already appears to be in a starting role for the JV the other I'm sure will see JV time at some point this year. It's this way every year. The better thread title might have been who are some of the freshman players to watch for this year. IMO, they are: 1. Brandon Hatton (Dixie) - All around STUD! He will be in the top 10, possibly top 5 in scoring in the NKY area. 2. Zach McNeil (Walton) - Another scoring guard starting varsity! 3. Jamonte Wilson (Holmes) - The little that I've seen of him could give Covington alot to cheer about over the next 4 years. 4. Nathan Verst (Brossart) - Another scoring guard who can fill up the bucket in bunches. 5. Brandon Hergott (HHS) - Wing player with size, athleticism and great touch. Ones to watch: Tanner Moeves (Walton) Mustafa Diaw (Boone), Nick True (HHS), Cory Holbrook (CCHS), Garrett Geiman (CCHS), Sam Dressman (CovCath), Nick Pope (CovCath), Jalen Beal (HC??), Jalen Avery (HC??), Seth Hope (HHS)
  10. I think the nod goes to Derek Smith. He only played baseball his freshman year and that could've been his best sport. Straight up stud football and basketball star! Didn't he earn 1st team ALL-SEC as a soph??? David Justice is the close 2nd. I mean c'mon Halle Berry has to be worth something!
  11. This year will be tough. Scott should win the district and I give the edge to CC to make it to the region this year, however, you never count out a Code coached team. The next 3 years should find the regional representation for the district in Alexandria solely.
  12. According to those who know, It's being played at CCMS this year. I'm unsure of future years. I've also been told (hearsay) that the Alexandria Business Community isn't involved in this game anymore. Maybe you know the answer to that one Mustang. To have that game at either high school site, could create a setting where fans might get turned away for the game. This year's game as well as the next few will start to get very exciting with the emergence of the sophomore studs for both teams. McGovney and Saunders, former grade school AAU teammates, should be the go to guys for their squads. I think McGovney has the upper hand because he has a more complete game, but Saunders can score in bunches. McGovney's coaching staff will run an offense more suited to his style. When those are two are Junior and Seniors, we could be watching 2 of the top 5 players in the NKY area battling it out in Alexandria in the Crosstown Showdown. Regardless of who wins this game, A majority of CCHS' season depends upon how well McGovney, and his coaching staff, will handle the defensive strategies from other squads AND how well his supporting cast can assist in adding points to the scoreboard. Go Camels!
  13. Always at CCMS. They trade off as the home team. nkufan 88: Jordan Racke wasn't on the A team, he was maybe the 3 or 4th best player on the B team. He's not a part of the squad, his height just isn't there.
  14. That is not correct. December 11, 2010 at CCMS.
  15. I didn't see it last year, but one year does change alot for most kids. I think their biggest struggle will be the outside shot, unless improvements have been made there as well. Curious, who is on the staff this year with Coach L?
  16. Great game by both squads! It was one of 3 exciting freshman football games I've seen played this year. As stated before, the HHS punt play by Plau (sp?) was a GREAT play! A little off on my predicition, but that would've been a boring game! A couple of observations..... CCH stormed out and hushed the HHS blue fans and ignited the CCH fan base. I think listening to the comments in the stands during the 1st half was about as good as watching the game. Nick Pope and Dressman are players, no doubt! The Hayes, Harris and Wrobleski backfield is going to give teams fits. Most teams are lucky to have 1 good running back. Ft. Thomas sports 3 GREAT running backs!
  17. HHS 52 Cov Cath 22 I also predict there will be a lot of blue in the stands!
  18. I think Saturday will tell if I exaggerated. If I did, I'll be on here Sunday and say so. If I didn't, I won't even mention it.
  19. You are the "Voice of Reason". You nailed it! Can I have one of those Stella's???
  20. Superman, Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, The Flash and Batman are all slated to play - as they have the whole season.
  21. In addition to zero turnovers, CovCath needs to dress their JV to keep the game within 10 points.
  22. I don't disagree that Campbell blew the big one in their first game of the season. They are a different team than the one that played HHS in August. I was at the HHS vs. St. X frosh game and the HHS vs. Campbell frosh game and I think HHS could beat most JV teams in NKY; however, Campbell lost 3 starters in that game AND our coaching staff were lost balls in the high weeds for the first 5 or 6 weeks. As I said before, Go Birds! Beat Colonels! Harris, Schweitzer, Hergott and Wrobleski are all brethren Red Devils and Cov Cath sports some Spartans - so Again, GO BIRDS!
  23. Campbell definitely played the worst game of the season against Highlands. Were you at last night's game??? What did Cov Cath show that puts them in another echelon?? Campbell was -13 yards from you posting that CovCath should've beaten Campbell. I look for Highlands to open up the wood shed and invite the Colonels in. Highlands will win Saturday by 4+ TD's going away! GO BIRDS!
  24. Sorry stud, 17 points not 21 and the 6 scored in the 1st half was on CC's 2nd/3rd string D. My bad. I never argued the final, but thanks for helping me prove the point. I sometimes need all the help I can get.
