I really like Cubbie out on the wing and in the paint as well. He brings a toughness to the team from his football experience and the kid is very athletic.

 

Covcath will have to get good guard play to be successful. It will be interesting to see how Maschinot plays this coming season.

Guard everyone seems to be overlooking is Reidinger. He provides team with consistent long range shooter. If he can knock down shots teams will not be able to clog the middle on Thelen.

Sounds familiar with this team. Need that to not only help the inside game, but IMO it is even more important to free up Brett for the outside shots.

To be fair this is a huge issue for almost every team. Good PG play is critical.

What's the status of Tommy Arnzen?

What about Schult and Baker at the forward positions? I think those two are key to Covcath getting Thelen enough touches to keep them in every game. Both will have to play well to prevent teams from doubling Jake every night. (Which will likely happen, regardless)

A bit off topic, so apologies to the topic tread purists, but I just read a link to the NKU Basketball website and saw that Mitch Shover is on the squad. Mitch is a great guy. He had health battles throughout the end of his Colonel career. I am looking forward to seeing him carry forward the success he enjoyed at Cov. Cath.

The player "Cubbie" you are referring to is Alex Connelly. Not everyone knows who you are talking about.

I saw that last week & meant to post something here. I'm happy for Mitch & excited to follow his career at NKU.

Thelen will carry this team and Connelly will add athleticism. However, there seems to be a ton of good bigs in Nky this season and shortage of guards. CCH has to be able to get it up the floor against teams or the bigs won't matter.

I was wondering the same thing...last time I saw that kid he had shot up to maybe 6'5" ish?

CCH will be fine from all aspects of the game. Thelen will dominate the inside, their speed, and athleticism will dominate with defense, and their guard postition will be played by a two year veteran who is the fastest kid in the 9th region. IMO.
