Because of the folks that claim he is the next Jordan and he will make a comfortable living playing pro ball, etc. I think his dad, or his AAU coach or his handler or his agent might be LaVar Ball. Just let the kid amaze us with his play. Whenever we get a special talent like Allen, that comes around, they are fun to watch. Until you get tired of hearing how great he is. He will show us on the court what he can do. that is, As long as he stays around and doesn't get shipped off to to a place with greener pastures. I wish the kid the best of luck. Let him do his thing.

AAU is where the exposure is 99% of the time. More kids than just those that reach the sweet 16 get college offers and that is mostly thru AAU. Ohmer is a rare example of no D2 offers, but was showcased in the sweet 16 and picks up a D1 offer. If a kid is good and plays AAU that is where the money is. I'll be watching a kid play Friday that got his scholly and his coach never saw him play a HS game nor did he see a film of his HS games.

Maybe that is the difference between programs like Duke or UK who maybe have one state kid on the team. You recruit the best kids, you win and the fan base is there. Don't get me wrong, I love to see local kids shine and play around here. But how many butts would one kid really put in the seats? As for Jake, didn't see him play last year. But you can't teach size. He has a D1 body. If he is lacking the skill set, X sees something in him that than can teach. They are making a pretty solid investment by recruiting him and want him for his skill set and size, not to add a few local patrons at the game.
