  1. Lloyd's guards lit it up from outside during the second quarter, allowed them to pull out to a substantial lead. Lloyd was very athletic, but not very big. Beechwood shot poorly from the field the entire game, was it good defense or just an off night, who knows....but an entertaining game non the less.
  2. Doubt they are looking for a new coach considering Marksberry is the AD. Most public schools have the same issue, the talents is cyclical, you seem to get a run of great kids for two or three years and then the fortunes turn. SK has a great facility and a pretty solid staff in place, the grapevine says that the next few classes are pretty solid...so SK should be back to .500 or better next year (IMO).
  3. Congrats to a great kid with a ton of upside potential.
  4. I did notice helmets flying off the heads of players at an alarming rate. I attributed the cause to players wearing their chinstraps too loose, there may be more to it than that.
  5. Great point, see it all the time. Big kids dont get the calls.
  6. Couldnt agree more, he #34, is a real tough guy on the court with opponents 4" shorter and heaven knows 100 lbs lighter than he is, he probably got his butt handed to him on the football field so he has to take it out on someone. A #1 Joke, both he and his coach!
  7. Couldn't disagree more with your statement. I agree that schools rely on the gate from basketball and football, but you can't offer a senior discount? Most of the seniors are paying more than their fair share to support the school system through property taxes, even though their children have long since passed through the halls. I'm not saying they should get in for free, but a dollar of two off is not going to cripple the athletic budget of most schools...of course there are exceptions.
  8. I would have to say Cov Cath or Dixie, I have seen both in person and they are loaded. I might give the nod to Dixie due to their depth, they dont miss a beat with their 10th man on the floor.
  9. He transfered from Walton Verona, but I think it was his junior year, half way through.
  10. Both played freshmen ball this year, one had surgery the week after football was over, not sure of the exact ailment, but all indications are that he will be released for full participation in a couple of weeks.
  11. I couldnt agree more, there were a number of times where both teams running backs were stood up for what seemed like an eternity without the whistle being blown.
  12. Thanks, I just went back over all the threads and couldn't find it. Exit 24 it is, hope to get into town early enough to find the field, hate it when it gets dark so darned early.
  13. Does anyone have an address? Hate to trek 5 hours just to get lost!
  14. They are small but athletic, will have to play up tempo to stay competitive. Rebounding will be a big area of concern.
  15. Is the football field at the school? Of course I meant Mayfield!
  16. We live in Independence as well and my son went to White's Tower. I will say that the experience we had may not be the same for everyone, however, it was a chore to get him to go to school because he was bored to death. I asked teachers if I purchased material for him if he could do that as he was definitely ahead of where he they were...had a meeting with the principal and the guidance counselor and was told that they were not obligated to do any differentiated teaching until the fourth grade. My husband then asked if he couldn't read if they were obligated to do something before fourth grade and we're still waiting for an answer to that one. One year at Twenhofel and it was the same story...I understand they have to teach to the "middle", but I still couldn't believe they wouldn't/couldn't push him academically. That said, we went for option #3 and pay tuition for an out-of-district school...best money we spend. With Kenton County being an open enrollment district, just do your homework and research...and talk to different teachers and administrators to see what their philosophy is...you'd be amazed how widely they vary from school to school.
  17. I have to admit I think Goetta is absolutely the most repulsive thing ever...that said, my husband LOVES it and will buy the Frisch's breakfast bar on the weekends just to get it. So, being the wonderful wife I am (insert pat on the back here), I'm going to try this. I should at least get some brownie points for trying to make it. Thanks for the recipe...
  18. DRUGS/ALCOHOL (Marijuana, Prescription, Dietary Supplements/Herbals, Others, Any alcohol/alcoholic items) - Use, Possession or Under the Influence; Sale, Transfer or Distribution of a drug, look-a-like drug, prescription medication, over the-counter medicine, or drug paraphernalia including (pipes, roach clips, hemostats, rolling papers, etc.) Drugs are defined as prescription (must be taken in accordance with school policy requiring a written pre-approved medical form completed by a physician) or any substance that has a harmful or unnatural effect on the person using them. This includes possession, use or under the influence on school property or at a school sponsored function. Possession includes items found on school property or at a school sponsored function. (To include, but not limited to locker assigned to student, vehicles driven by the students, any other place deposited by student including purse, backpack, garbage container, etc.). To be honest, I would like to see Kenton County Schools follow their own Student Code of Conduct a little more closely. I know of instances at other Kenton County Schools where student athletes were suspended for just a game for using marijuana, which is against the law no matter what the molecule make-up. I would like to believe that “wins and losses” aren’t more important than developing a student athlete to be a well-rounded, accountable-for-their-actions individual. Me personally, if it were my son, playing on Friday night (or the rest of the season for that matter) would be the least of his worries.
  19. Give it two years ;-)...I have two and love them. They are a lot of work but truly worth it. But I will say, we got Lightning as a pup and he really didn't grow out of that puppy stage until he was about 18 months. Now he's the laziest Husky in NKY at age 3.
  20. Is anyone going to comment on the facemask where a Ludlow kid grabbed the mask of a Beechwood player so hard that he pulled the helmet off the kids head, launched it, and it landed, literally, 5 feet from the stands?
  21. Amen, from the frying pan to the fire.....those poor guys are going to be shell shocked!
