NKY Freshman Football
Sorry to get snippy. I personally know all the people who voted. I personally voted for Zach. But I know that it was a hard debate for some coaches. I even talked to Zach about this. The senior division really doesn't have that issue with the CCRD. I see it in the younger divisions. They were really fair about the vote. Zach will be a stud and him and scruggs really had a good time in the all star game.

NKY Freshman Football
That debate has been discussed alot. I really am not baised. Zach is a great player. And a great kid. Your right, either one is worthy of that award. But it was not a toss up they actually awarded the MVP. He was the best player in the NKYFL. I think they saw it like this. If you switched them I do not think Zach could have scored against CC. Thats what made scruggs so special. No other player scored on that defense except Scruggs. He really had some special plays. All the games BT played were not blow outs and Scruggs really shined in those wins.

NKY Freshman Football
Yeah those CC parents really know how to out good coaches. ken Morgan is a great coach and would only help CC Freshman. Jonathan Scruggs will be at Holmes and he was, by far and away, the best player in any 8th grade program last year. I have never seen power and speed on a kid that age. It was only his 3rd year of football.

Best Coaches in N. Ky.
I would love to see Brad Carr coach at Holmes.

Dayton 2010
The Bellevue program is willing to combine with dayton and even come up with some sort of team name. The Dayton program is unwilling at this point. I agree papa, those kids will get better bc thats were it starts in practice. If your practices are unproductive then that shows in the teams performance. I get that there is some rivalry lines that need to be erased but there are plenty of youth programs that have multiple kids from different schools that end up playing at different high schools. And I hope that whomever the coaches are at both high schools really try to help with the encouragement of youth players coming out. Sign up days, Youth camps....etc.

Dayton 2010
At least the Dayton Kids will get the numbers to practice against.

Dayton 2010
No it is not true. But what is being discussed is to combine Bellevue and Dayton youth teams. Also, Ludlow is still around.

Who is this year's Mr. Football winner?
Why can't they give out a Mr. Football for each class? Would that be too correct? Awards like this do honor the team too. Very cool to have blocked for Mr. Football. Who would win per Class? 1A 2A 3A 4A 5A 6A

NKY 2010
Holmes lost 14 seniors. Most of their skill players come back. They played mostly underclassmen this year. They lose key big guys like lowe, jenkins and calemino which will be hard to replace but they will again be fast. If a few key linemen step up then it will be another district title.

Can Holmes turn into a Louisville Central?
Well I do not know much about Central but Holmes has all the potential to become a mainstay at 4A. Hey they do have a nationally ranked basketball program. I think the athletes are there. Now good coaches have started rolling out a program that will bring out more athletes.

NKYFL Super Bowl 11/7
- Holmes 23 Harrison County 7
Congrats Coach Lickert. Set up a plan the kids bought in and here comes the payoff in the playoffs. Go bulldogs! In 1991, with Lee Turney at QB and WR James hayes the Bulldogs went 8-3 with 1 point loss to Dixie(QB Matt Bloemer) and a 4 point loss to Boone (John Alford RB) back when they only took two teams to the playoffs. Holmes was 4A that year when they only had up to 4A. 1992 they made the playoffs in 3A when they moved down and they started letting 4 teams in the playoffs. James Hayes carried them. Can't remember if they won in the Playoffs though.- NKYFL Season
I understand how you feel about the third quarter. But its like the 5th quarter for the middle school games. But they put it in the middle of the game thats all. They just try to give an uncompetitive atmosphere for some of the kids otherwise if you left it up to the coach and you kept the score in the thrid quarter, then a lot of kids would not get in the game for fear that the team will lose. I can tell you from experience that one of the problems I learned while coaching those younger ages. There are small number of kids on the team that really grasp the whole concept of the game and want to win. But the majority of those kids just want to have a good time, eventuallly those kids will learn and get competitive as they get older. But there are times in a game when you keep score and little Johnny is playing corner and his far from your best player and you try to get playing time for him and sure enough they run a sweep to his side and he gives up the all important TD. Those competitive kids also know who lost the game for them too and are quick to point the finger. Those kids who want to win are really harsh. Then you have little Johnny really not want to play anymore. So we have to sensititve to all the levels of the kids during that age.- NKYFL Season
The Starter bowl is a game for the little guys. (6 & 7 yr old) During the regular season they do not keep score during starter games for the reasons you are talking about right now. These guys are too little and do not comprehend all aspects of the game. As a former starter head coach I was never a big fan of the starter bowl. But I know people like to watch them play. There are just to many mistakes by players to call fouls. The officials would get carpal tunnel throwing flags. As for the 3rd quarter rule, they do that so a team will not stick in a few studs to catch up or pull away. When you put a score on the board its amazing how quickly people forget these are very young kids and will do anything to win. I just know that the younger the player is....the more emotional the parent is. Which can make for some fireworks during those games on the field and off.- NKYFL Season
Big performance! Not sure if this is a NKYFL record but Jonathan Scruggs (Bengal Tigers seniors) rushed for 7 TDs and 417 yards on 15 carries versus the Spartans this weekend to help in a 54-36 victory. On his birthday no less.- NKYFL Season
How'd CCRD do this week?- Boone County Pee Wee Football
How big is Jalen?- Bellevue 47 Walton-Verona 0
I hate to hear the "run up the score" agruement. Know one really knows the situation. There could be everal factors going into a decision to keep a player in. I remember when Shaun Alexander played at Boone County and Hauck would leave him in a real big blowouts too. No one complains about him.- Holmes 49 Pendleton County 6
Why move? I think they are doing what needs to be done. Stay in 4A. If you were to meet players and see the caliber of kid playing right now for holmes you would see they are great young men. Build your team through great leaders. That is the plan they should stick to.- Holmes 49 Pendleton County 6
Could?....I say they will. Their overall team speed makes them a legit threat in 4A.- Holmes 49 Pendleton County 6
Great job Dawgs! The best part is that they have plenty of Juniors and Sophomores playing. There is plenty of talent coming up.- Youth Football in Northern Kentucky
Then he is on a really good team. Hergott, Kolp, Kramer....to name a few of the CCRD off the top of my head....those guys are just great people, not just coaches. They make kids better on all aspects of the game. And they have been doing it for years. I would be very thankful my kid played on that team too.- Youth Football in Northern Kentucky
The NKYFL has been producing great talent for decades. I know not all the coaches share my beliefs about playing time (I think every kid should get in the game) but the league is moving in a great direstion. They split the 8 & 9 year old division into two seperate teams. This gets more playing time. They are thinking of doing the same to the junior level too. But it would be a shame to lose the senior division. Some areas do not have middle school programs. So this lets those kids have a team to play for. Plus I the coaching is really good. Many of those senior coaches would be great varsity coaches, but they can't make the early practices due to work. The NKYFL lets us have a place to teach really good football. There are some really good resumes for these coaches out there.- Youth Football in Northern Kentucky
As a NKYFL head coach of a senior team, my players get to play in every game. I have over 40 players too. I take pride in that. Plus we scrimmage other local teams to get more playing time. I rarely have a parent complain about playing time. The complaints come from what position they play. Seems like a lot of people have a stud QB or tailback as a son. You have to careful how you handle that or your name is trashed. - Holmes 23 Harrison County 7
