Bellevue 47 Walton-Verona 0

Featured Replies

As expected. Tigers came in and took care of business. How did Big Rick Buckler look tonight?

Walton-Verona's young program isn't quite at Bellevue's level yet. But there are still possible wins against Dayton, Ludlow and/or Brossart that could perhaps get them in the playoffs. Keep your heads up.:thumb:

Just as I predicted, Bellevue just came out and stomped all over Walton. Also, just as I predicted, Buckler finished with 308 yds on just 17 carries.

Now Bellevue has a full head of steam in district play, I just hope Brossart is fully recovered because Bellevue will walk all over them too

Congrats to Rickey Buckler on a fantastic game, but why's he in the game in the 4th Q in a 40-0 game?

Walton lost too many starters from last years squad. They need to keep fighting and not give up.

300 yards in a blowout game? Wow? How long did Bellevue keep him in there for. I am sorry but I am guessing by the time he was at 200 yards, that this game was well in hand and there was no reason to be playing him anymore.

Buckler scored with 8:27 in the game on a 77 yard scamper which gave him a career high 308 yards. Common math tells me if he hadn't had those 77 yards and been pulled he would've finished with 231 yards. It also tells me that their work horse was in there in a game that was 40-0 in the 4th before that play.

Not a classy move on Eckstein's part. Now not only do the Bearcat's feel bad that they have a blowout in the paper, but they gave up 300 yards to a single player. Not smart on Eckstein's part, thats a good way for Buckler to take a cheap shot and end his season.

Wow there is definitely no reason for him to have still been in the game at that point. The game was definitely not in doubt at that point at all. I agree that is pretty disrespectful, and just not smart. I mean we hear all the time from the Bellevue faithful that they say Buckler is one of the best in the area. So if you know you have one of the best and are up 40 to nothing, you should know if you give it to him again then he might just bust it for a long run. I really just don't get the reasoning behind it, I guess they just are wanting him to take the rushing title this year or something for most yards in the season.

In response to #5 and futurecoaches last two post. Hope you were at the game.

1. Bellevue ran just a few plays on offense in the 3rd quarter. Buckler had only 17 carries in the game, he has been averaging over 25.

2. It is not an opposing coaches job to worry how the other team feels after a blowout, tough loss or a victory. Coach Eckstein would do anything and everything for his players and students, never ever question a man character or his classiness if you do not have any knowledge about who he is or what he stands for.

3. As far as the Bearcats go, they need to get better. Period. They evidently had discipline issues and injuries crop up that week they played Bellevue, not Ecksteins fault. His job is to get his players ready to face Playoff caliber teams, they played a tougher early schedule than most of the other 1A teams they paly outside of Beechwood.

4. If I was a coach that was playing a rival which now Walton is because of district play. I would bury them every chance I get, Keep them down, because if you let a team think they can play with you, they will, Eckstein and the tigers found that out last year against Gallitin County.

Point number 4 by you, shows me exactly why you don't see the problem with running the score. Just remember Bellevue is no Beechwood, they will not stay as good as they are this year, every year like Beechwood does. They will come back down to normal and it probably will be next year. Just like all these small schools, they go through cycles. So not knowing how to play with class when you do have a top team like they do this year, will hopefully come back to bite them then. I mean there is going to come a time when Walton and the Brossarts end up with a really good football programs, and will have a year when they can put it to Bellevue. So I really hope we don't hear a single Bellevue person saying a thing about it, if Walton does what Bellevue did, and still playing star players in a blowout. As I said before, it the situation was opposite, I seriously doubt we would be hearing these same arguments by some of you all.

Futurecoach,

If you have such an issue with the presentcoach leaving him in why don't you ask the presentcoach about it. You can find him every day of the week at Bellevue High School, 201 Center Street, Bellevue, KY. Maybe he would be willing to discuss it with you.

You guys are also talking about the varsity head coach who took over play calling last year when they were getting beat in the JV conference champ. game.... And still took the loss.....(3 times by the way).... Not that JV really matters when November hits, but it is a sneak peek into the future of programs..... :ylsuper:

I hate to hear the "run up the score" agruement. Know one really knows the situation. There could be everal factors going into a decision to keep a player in.

I remember when Shaun Alexander played at Boone County and Hauck would leave him in a real big blowouts too. No one complains about him.

People (anonymously I must point out) casting aspersions on a coach and a team without any knowledge whatsoever as to the circumstances of an event. For whatever reason Coach Eckstein had for keeping Ricky in the game I GUARANTEE you that it was honorable and thought through. Coach is one of the good guys and has taken more than his share or beat downs, enough to know what it's like to be on the receiving end and I assure you that it was not his intention to administer one to the Wildcats team. I'll take Coach Eckstein and his program and ethics on the field any day. There is a definite difference be yween being a wanna be coach and a real one.
