FYI, I've heard Boone has had a couple big lineman transfer into to the school this year from out of state. May be a break year in the right direction.

Hw will be a freshman this year. I believe he is playing on the freshman team again this year. But im not 100% sure

Is he going to be the main runner? I believe he was more of a FB but I'm not sure.

With the loss of a few big time runningbacks in NKY this year, who are going to be the players to watch for?

FYI, Coach Downs never recruited the players that are currently at Boone, he made them from coaching them from 3rd grade up to their freshman year, always stayed with his kids, never cut a kid to make his team better. Very commendable in this time of win at all cost.

I AGREE 100%, and to add, my son had the privlege to play for coach downs and because of his effort and ability and patience as a coach, he is definitly the basketball player with the abilities he has because of coach Downs, but even more, he learned that nothing is handed to you, you compete for a position, and the best player plays, no politics, and my son has learned from this that this is true in life. Also, coach Downs is very loyal to his past players, follows them in their other spots and supports them 100%, would do any thing for them if they asked, Besides being a excellent coach he is a an honorable man.

I agree also, want to add one, anyone heard of the "MALL", free to get in, weathers always good, decent parking and whole lot of socializing goes on there, and a lot of concession stands to chose from there for food. Good hours to. This is more reflected toward the student aspect of the conversation.

After reading this thread, what comes to my mind is until Cooper plays the season schedule that the established 6A teams in the distict play yesr in and year out, commiting to Cooper being in the playoffs is hopeful but may be tough this next few years. The competition level playing 6A level teams through the whole season, be it in NKY or in having to travel to other areas of the state, prepares a team for the road to the playofs, even if it causes your team to lose some games preparing the team for NKY district competion. I am definitly not an expert on this subject, and do I hope the best for Cooper next year You can not depend on other teams losing talent, to equal things out, to be he best, you have to play the best, and in time, Cooper will get to that needed schedule I'm sure. Yes, seniors should finish out their last game in that situation. From an outsiders view, Boone was in the middle of a rebuilding year it seems, lost alot of senior starters from last year, 9 of 11 on the denfensive side alone. There is definitly talent there at certain positions, but, it is up to the coaching staff to develop their players, through off season conditioning, and teaching. Boone was handed a tough schedule this year, no doubt, now, how does the TEAM respond,TEAM means coaches also, that is the million dollar question. I agree, if they play any where to how they did against Lafayette, need the defense to show up though, playing a lot of sophomores on defense is a learning issue that should help for for next, but seems to be really hurting Boone a lot this year.

jar45, I can't express my families feelings in the loss of your son, we pray for your family, and know that Andy left us all better people because we got to know him and saw how he was such a good mentor to us all. We go back as far as when he was coaching for the Razorbacks. God bless.

This was my first chance to make it to a Boone game, and there are some players that are giving all they have on each play. Oppenheimer, sells out every play, Alford, going both ways, looks like a good athlete, Quanioo, plays hurt , still produces. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that stuck out Friday night. I'm not even close to being a coach,but it makes sense to coach to the players talent that you have in stead of a football scheme that you have been using for 20 years. Spread the offense out, make the defense spread out, open the field up. I can't comment on the defense, but the one play that Conner kept running, passing to the receiver far out on the left side on the line of scrimmage for a minimun of 10 yard gains and up to touchdowns was mind boggiling. Seems the defensive coaches could of adjusted to the play early in the game. Conner is well coached and have alot of good players, They could be the Sk of last year, keep it going Conner.

Boone finally made it through a tough four game start, I think every one would agree. The old saying " if it doesn,t kill you, it only makes you better", I think this showed in there first district game. I agree 100%, need to improve passing the ball. Seemed Alford started the season off passing productivily, but after going through Anderson and Highlands it seems to have taken a step back. I can only assume Thompson saw the running game was working against Campbell and decided to secure a win and get the team on a positive note going into to the rest of the seson. Any team with Quainoo and Oppenheimer in the same back field, would do the same thing, if it works, keep using it. Boone needs to work on improving their weeknesses this weak in practice. Both teams have stong parts to their game and it seems they are opposite to each other this year, makes for a good game next Friday night. Good luck to both teams.

Thanks for the region information, I wasn't aware of the teams that are in that region,I agree. Still, Anderson is a very good football team, well prepared, I am going to follow them the remainder of the year and see how it all plays out. Good luck to them.

Excellant Thread. Not That Boone will beat Highlands, probably not, but Highlands would not come close to Anderson with the team that they have this year. They are starting alot of seniors.Anderson definitly has a good shot at a state championship. Boone is replacing 9 starters from defense and 6 or 7 from offense from last years team. They are playing quite a few underclassmen, with a very tough starting schedule. This is gut check time for the players and coaches. I am confident that as the season goes on people will see an improvement with this team. Boone traditonally starts out slow, but as the season goes on they are always there at the end. The goal is to get to the playoffs and now the records are 0-0.Sk proved that. I agree with Love The Game, Some one needs to light a fire and it should start with this class of SENIORS. Its still early and alot of good games to play and see.

Haven't seen Oppenheimers name, how is he doing this year? strong RB, Is he getting much carries.
