  1. This would've been some game to see...wish I was there. Thanks for the updates halfback20!
  2. Today's the day - first official game, FINALLY!!! I can't wait until tonight. GO BEARS!!!! (Needless to say I predict the bears to win, lol) :dancingpa
  3. It is this Thursday, the 20th, at Corbin, at 7:30 I believe is the time. GO BEARS!!!
  4. :ohbrother: LOL, now Mama Bear, I wouldn't call it a smack down...we almost had Coach and "Den Daddy". I think I had him scared though; he couldn't make any "shots" there towards the end of the game. He doesn't like sleeping on the couch!
  5. Three Wishes - Where is the football camp they go to? I can't remember. And, do you know what other teams are going to be there?
  6. I just got back from taking my baby bear to the first day of practice and I couldn't believe it. Mama Bear had a tent pitched in the middle of the practice field, been there all night, was handing out coffee to the coaches and singing the Black Bear fight song at the top of her lungs. GO BEARS!!! WOO-HOO....IT'S ON!!!!!!:banana::banana:
  7. I remember you then Dogs of War. I was up there right behind you when my son was doing his power cleans.
  8. Yes I was there and so was my hubby, sporting my son's name and number, but I didn't stay for the trophy/t-shirt presentation...had a prior family engagement I had to get to. I thoroughly enjoyed the competition. Like Mama Bear said, I figured it would probably be pretty boring, but it wasn't...and I was very glad I went. I look forward to it again next year! I want to congratulate all the boys who participated from every school and to say they should really be proud of themselves for what they have accomplished with their weight training.
  9. How are these weight lifting competitions set up? I know they have different weight classes, so do they start lifting a certain weight in each weight class on each event and go up until somebody gets more than everbody else? I know - bunch a women, bunch a questions, lol. I've never been to a weight lifting comp, so I'm curious. Bear with me 3 wishes, lol.
  10. How many of the boys are competing in the weight lifting competition?
  11. The newpaper said that bear was 500 pounds+:scared:....DANG I SAY!!! BTW 3wishes - great pics above of the school and future football field site!
  12. My husband watched some spring practices where they had James at fullback and said he did great at FB.
  13. I agree with you Ram...I think it can be done, but they aren't getting to their full potential in any one sport when they do play multiple sports. My son has played basketball (starting with little league in probably kindergarten or 1st grade) and football since 6th grade. He is a sophomore this year and for the first time did not play basketball. We gave him the choice and he chose not to because he wanted to concentrate on football. He has already gained about 15 pounds since football ended, has been lifting weights the entire winter, and I think it is really going to benefit him. When he used to play basketball, he would run off all his weight and have to start all over trying to gain some weight and his muscle back after basketball season ended. He is about 6'3" and used to hover around 187 pounds and now is up to 205 and still working at gaining some more weight and muscle. Just one mother's thoughts on the subject.
  14. Prayers and condolences from Harlan County. I can't even imagine what these families must be going through.
  15. Thanks for the article HDE...I was having some serious Black Bear football DTs. I cannot wait for football season.
  16. Way to go Charlie!!! I always like to a see a mountain player in the limelight. Congrats on going to EKU. :thumb:
  17. Congrats to Chris!!! Although we hate to lose him in Harlan County, I'm sure he will do a phenominal job at North Laurel and I wish him nothing but the best. :thumb:
  18. Thanks so much for the encouraging words for the Black Bears, Krack Back. I know the boys are definitely working hard in the weight room already. They got a little taste of what it can be like to be on a winning team with Coach Larkey and company this season, so I know they are hungry for some of the same (and more) this coming year.
  19. Oh My Goodness; this is such a tragedy. My prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of these kids.
