  1. This is going to be a tough fought game for sure, but I think the Bears will come out on top at the end. GO BEARS, SHOW 'EM HOW TOUGH OUR DEFENSE IS!!! :dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa
  2.:banana:I'm certainly glad I was there to witness it in person; Nat was awesome!!!:banana:
  3. Talk about a TOTALLY different feeling leaving the "Big Man Davis Field" last night than 3 weeks ago, and man it feels good. I'm still excited this morning, woke up and can't go back to sleep. Great game Gilliam, way to run that football, big play after big play. Also, great kid...I heard he thanked his O-line in the huddle after the game cause if it hadn't been for their awesome play, he said he wouldn't have gotten all those yards. :ylsuper: Congrats to all the our Black Bears. Several of our Bears had great games last night and we are proud of each and every one of you. The Bear Nation always knew you could do it, and you came out and showed us you can. :dancingpa
  4. Hard on the eyes....makes me want to hurl big time, LOL. Best of luck to Merrick whereever he ends up though. :thumb:
  5. What are the rules on pass interference in high school football? And, what about "face blocking" in high school football? I have heard different explanations on this subject and would like to hear it straight from one of the "horses" mouths, lol.
  6. The Den Mother is in Richmond at Sister Bear's house, anxiously awaiting departure time to head off to the game. One last good luck to our Bears....show us what you got tonight boys. GO BEARS!!!
  7. WOO HOO!!! Way to go "Little" Bears....I only wish I had been there to see it. Keep up the great work. We are all behind you all the way.   I have a question...any takers...do they have any kind of playoffs for the freshman teams or do they just play their schedule and that's it?
  8. Can someone please post the results of this game when it is over??? Go Little Bears!!! :jump:
  9. I've been reading this thread, interesting, congrats on what sounds like a fine program....but, I know nothing about it. I don't really keep up with the Northern Kentucky teams (although I was born in Covington, lol), but I'm a country girl now. So, a few questions for you all. I'm taking it your mascot is the "Birds" ??? and why do you call yourselves cakeeaters? Just curious... :jump:
  10. Thanks for the info 3wishes.....and Go Bears!!! The Bear Nation is still here to support our boys. Lets get on the road to Powel County this Friday everybody!!! :dancingpa
  11. Does anyone know how long it takes to get to Powell County and what directions are best from Harlan?
  12. I love this post 5wide; you said almost everything I have wanted to say to our critics about playing in the 3A class and about the new program being put together. The Bears are still getting used to each other and Coach Larkey's style of play. Having said that, I have been almost sick since Friday, trying to get over that mess we witnessed Friday night. There were a lot of factors that went into this game and why we had such a poor showing IMO. We played a VERY talented team in Breathitt who have been together for years and are used to playing in big games with big expectations and playoff implications. It was the first home game for the Bears in front of a HUGE crowd, all that tremendous hype, excitement and expectation put on the boys, first game in the rain for a bunch of boys who probably aren't even really used to playing with each other in dry conditions yet, not having our starting QB who is a great passer and could have opened up our running game and loosened up the Breathitt defense, just to name a few. I am still as proud as ever of our boys and what they have accomplished so far in their first year together. It is now time to learn from this and move on. I look for great things in the years to come and cannot wait to see the Bears in action against Powell Co. GO BEARS...WE STILL LOVE YOU AND BELIEVE IN YOU!!! :thumb:
  13. 34hawks, I'll take a stab at directions if you are still interested, lol. If you are coming from Cumberland to Harlan, just stay on that road until you get to the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and turn right at the light. A CVS Pharmacy will be on the left at this light. There will be gas station (used to be a Shell station, not sure if it still is or not) on the right where you turn. Just keep going on this little street, which is called Ballpark Road, and you will be there...you can't miss it. You will end up at the old James A. Cawood High School parking lot. :thumb: Also, if you are coming from Cumberland, you will pass right by the new Harlan County High School on the way to Harlan. You can't miss it either. It is on the right side of the road, it is big and beautiful....and we are awfully proud of it!!!
  14. For the Bear Nation having to travel for 4 hours to get to Fleming Co. AND gas being at $5 a gallon that day, we had a DANG good crowd there at Fleming Co. cheering on the Bears. :ylsuper:
  15. 3WISHES, Are you keeping these D stats yourself, or finding them elsewhere?
