  3. Team Facts: Green County: Coming off back to back wins where they have scored 56 and 52 points. Explosive offense that has three really good backs. Defense has been a big question. Looks to be improving while still needing work. McDermott seems to be getting more comfortable at quarterback and is both a weapon running and throwing. Very quick on both sides of the ball. Larue County: Coming off a win versus Shelby County. Big Backs with both power and speed. Defense is pretty good with a question mark in the secondary. This is a game between neighboring counties and Larue Co. won 28-27 last season in Dragon Stadium. Robert Gatton, Larue Counties quarterback started his high school football playing for Green Co. "interesting."
  4. You know I wanted to give credit where credit was due for the season Monroe Co. has had but the continuous trash talk about Green and their fans has really put me over the edge. Semperfifalcon, I have enjoyed the back and forth discussions between me and you this season, however; you know our fans done nothing of the sort that any other rival fans would not have done. They highly support our program and are loud, screaming, worthy fans no matter where they go. Just like your own. But to say we are unsportsmanlike has gone too far....call me a whiner all you want but let me give you some facts about the game on friday night. I am sure you will come back with something considering you think you are some football forum guru that has your brother in law to back you. The Dragons were in a group listening to their coaches speech about the year and the group of seniors that really turned the program around and that was the reason no one came to recieve the trophy. It was picked up by the principal. 1st point: Before the game ever started, the Monroe Co. coach continues to apologise for the field being in such a terrible shape. It was an absolute quagmire for some unknown reason. The clay mud around the locker rooms was dry and hard as a rock but the game field was almost in unplayable shape. The excuse was it rained on Monday. (four days prior to game time, don't bye that one). What really happen? Maybe the tent at the end of the stadium on the visitors end was hinding the fact there was some type of water hose that was used to wet the field. HMMMM maybe! 2nd point: Green Co. recieved 8 - 15 yard penalties that all but one was thrown on 3rd and long or 4th down. HMMM coincidental. Monroe had 2 penalties for 15 yards all night long (one false start and one hold that brought back a TD). Green has well over 150 yards in penalties that were all thrown by the head official and the side judge on Monroe Counties side. Not one flag was thrown by the umpire, back judge, or head linesman on the Green Co. side. Another coincident. 3rd point: The guy on the Green Co. sideline that was keeping the down marker starts mouthing about a call the Dragon coaches were discussing. Resulting in words between him and a Dragon coach. If the chain crew can not handle the atmosphere on the visiting side, maybe they don't need to be doing that job. The chain crew was ask to keep their mark while the Dragon head coach questioned one of the many penalties...the chainman got smart with the coaches. Quoting, "you do your job and I'll do mine." The head linesman knew nothing that was going on until the chainman runs to him and cries foul. Resulting in two of the Dragon coaches being put out of the coaches box. The referee said the Dragon coach threw an elbow at the chainman which was totally not the case and ridiculous. Even the chain man said the guy never touched me...it was nothing more than a heated discussion and the line judge deliberately took sides. 4th point: The Dragons score twice fairly quickly in the second half taking all the momentum of the game. Having the lead by 7, Green Co. picks off a pass on the Falcon 35 yard line thus really taking over the momentum. After the freshman linebacker for the Dragons starts to return the pick, a phantum flag is thrown by the head official resulting in a roughing the passer call that was absolutely ridiculous. Therefore giving the ball back to Monroe Co. and a automatic first down. If the Dragons have that ball and score, GAME OVER! 5th point: The Falcons run the ball at mid-field and fumble. The lineman throws the bean bag, but Monroe recovers the ball. The Dragons never have possession. The crew huddles together and says it was a change of possession between the two teams therefore resulting in Monroe Co. ball and giving them 1st down and 10 instead of 4th and 8. Another head scratcher! 6th point: 3rd and 12 and the Falcons throw a pass to Wilson in which the ball was cleanly thrown over everyones head. A pass interference was called on Green Counties CB #21. Watching the film after the game plainly shows the CB was at least 4 yards away from the reciever. This call was made on the Monroe Co. sideline. Plainly deliberate flag! 7th point: The situation was 4th and 7, Monroe Co. has the ball on the Dragon 42 yard line when the QB was flushed out of the pocket on a pass. The Dragon defensive tackle stops the QB for a 2 yard gain in which should have been a change of possession but a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty was called on a Dragon defender because the head official said he led the tackle with his helment. Resulting in a 1st down on the Dragons 25 yards line in which the drive resulted in the only TD the second half by the Falcons. HOME cooking ! 8th point: The Dragon QB gets gang tackled by 5 Falcon defenders. The whistle was blown and then the Dragon QB was thrown to the ground. The Dragon QB jumps up and pushes one of the defenders off of him and a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty is called on the Dragon QB for pushing. This was after the fact he was slammed to the ground, clearly after the whistle was blown. Absolutely rediculous by this point! 9th point: The Dragons have the football on 4th and 4 and a "shift" was called on the punt. The Falcon defender brings his entire body over the line of scrimmage and the football. The linesman simply stated, "I am not going to call that." It should have clearly resulted in a defensive offsides penaly resulting in a 1st down for the Dragons, therefore; keeping the drive alive late in the game. 10 point: These were all things that were significant to the outcome of the game. I am just stating facts as they occurred regardless of who wants to argue the points. When you are in the stands doesn't even compare to what you see and hear when you are up close and personal. It was a complete shame because this was a very physcial, hard fought game by both sets of players and coaches, on the field. It is a shame that an officiating crew has to result in the outcome of such a fine ballgame. Not just tonight, but all season...the officiating in high school football has almost become a JOKE ! Especially when it gets this far into the playoffs, we can not have officials being the results of ballgames that are so highly important. Not fair to the coaches, players, schools, or the administration. Let the players determine the outcomes...noone pays there money to watch a game where 25 penalties are thrown, especially when it is clearly one sided. In closing, I will say Monroe Co. has made a tremendous turn around in their program in such a short time. Coach Petett should be commended for that but lets not throw stones in a glass house when it comes to discussing SPORTSMANSHIP! I will say goodluck to both teams this week but will send a stern warning to Ft. Campbell saying you are a TD, maybe 2 behind before you ever step foot into one of the worst visiting lockerrooms in high school football. You will be penalized more in this game then you have all season. HOPE THIS IS NOT THE CASE but the above mentioned leads me to believe things are so dirty in todays sports and society! Good Luck to All ! :thumb:
  5. Sometimes we tend to take things personal on these message boards. These boards are just a way of discussing and talking a little smack. When it comes down to it, both teams are good football teams or they would not be where there at....Football is a game of momentum and taking care of the ball. The team that does that friday night will be the victor. Its great to see that the regional title comes down to the two best teams in District 3. That says alot for our district. :thumb:
  6. Wow..this guy from Highlands needs some "Right Guard", his underarms are really kicking !
  7. No guarantees, just confident in where this team is right now. You will not see the same team you seen 4 weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, this will be a great game and probably a close game throughout. The team that wants this the most will win as well as the team with the least amount of mistakes. Like I said in an earlier post, the Dragons have restored their swagger and giving teams problems with the RUNNING game as well as the PASSING game. Defensively we've found a new desire...and with the win over Danville at Danville, these guys really are starting to believe in themselves. Good Luck to both teams and maybe after the game you could introduce yourself to a fellow BGPer. I will not be hard to recognize considering I am one of the coaching staff. (Not the shortest coach but close to it.) :thumb:
  8. Thats Okay Semperfifalcon...poke fun all you like, I'LL GET THE LAST LAUGH ! :thumb:
  9. This was only the third meeting between the two squads. Danville still holds the edge 2-1. However, last nights win sends Class AA a statement that Green County is a program on the rise. Great win and great game for both teams. Good luck in the future to all the Admiral seniors ! :thumb:
  10. Go ahead and beat a dead horse...everyone is entitled to one idiotic statement. With that being said, I like playing the underdog role. These guys have pulled together and are playing some of their best ball of the season. Those who are just riding us off may be in for a surprise. The Falcons will not see the same team they seen at Dragon Stadium. The swagger is back in the Dragons and they will be a dog fight. Get ya popcorn ready ! :thumb:
  11. All I am willing to say is that out of the last two games, the QB is 23/27 for 233 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Take that for what you want...I really don't see us as one dimensional. :thumb:
  12. Greensburg is the town of Green County while Campbellsville is the town of Taylor County. Both towns are approximately 11 miles apart. Black Gnat is basically just a wet spot in the road on the line of Green and Taylor Counties. What this has to do with the winner of Danville/Green County game, I don't know. Win or lose, Danville will know they have been in a game and shouldn't have to ask where Green County is from now on! Good Luck to all and I hope everyone in Green County makes the trip. GO DRAGONS !!! :thumb:
  13. We are a run offense however we have been able to pass as well the last couple of weeks. Call us one dimensional or whatever you like....however in your case, I think the Falcons better not pencil in a game versus Ft. Campbell just yet because if they are fortunate enough to get past Bardstown, then the Green County/Danville winner might just have a little something to say about it. Hope it works out for a rematch! :thumb:
  14. I highly disagree....Green County defeated Taylor County at Taylor by the score of 76-21. Green is a predominately run offense that rushed for 503 yards on the Cardinals. Green only threw for 83 yards. Taylor's fault is their defense....they can not stop the run. However, they are pretty good on offense. Macon is a load at reciever while Chris Thomas is back and healthy and can put 6 on you at any point on the field. Turnovers may determine this game. Good luck to both! :thumb:
  15. I love the doubters on this board. Green came in friday night and really seemed that they have moved on from the Rogers injury. They had three guys will more than 100 yards rushing and the QB was 9 out of his first 9 in passing. The passing game has really came on the past two games considering they are 23 out of their last 29 with several yards and a couple of Touchdowns. Don't sleep on the Dragons because they have shown a sign of waking up the past couple of weeks. The game should be a great one and I hope everyone around the Greensburg area makes the trip to Danville. Pack the stands and pull for these guys. :thumb:
  16. These two teams are pretty similiar on paper. Danville had a rather easy first round with a 45-6 win over Glasgow, while Green Co. handily defeated Washington Co. 52-24 in a game of high powered offenses. The Dragons defense really stepped up and the Ads had alot of careless turnovers. How will this game shape up considering Green County has to travel to Danville? Both teams can be really dangerous... :thumb:
  17. The guys came out tonight and put together a very solid performance. My hats off to the defense with picking JoJo Simms 7 times. The offense looked like the offense of old as the FB and TB had great games. Really nice to see the passing game has made leaps and bounds the last two weeks. Now its harder for teams to prepare. Great Job all around and continue the great work. Its off to the second round with a trip to Danville. Should be a dandy! :thumb:
  18. Might I say that was a span when Green County was on a 2-28 run. They now have went 19-3 so far the past two seasons. My how high school football changes in just a short time. I still see Monroe Co. naming the score in this one. I personally think the Falcons will go untested until the third round of the playoffs unless Bardstown comes in the 2nd round focused and ready to battle. Good Luck to all of District 3 :thumb:
  19. I believe Marion Co. is a team that will surprise alot of people in this playoff run. Good size and great speed. Good Luck Knights!
  20. I will say that the defensive game plan against Washington Co. was a little off the first time around, however; those adjustments have been made and I think you will see a much better showing on the defensive side of the ball for the Dragons. On offense, the Dragons will miss Rogers in this playoff run but seems to have settled down and doing some things that will prepare them for a run. The passing game came along last friday night and the Dragons seem to have a great attitude heading into the playoffs despite back to back loses. Those two loses were from very good ball teams and the Dragons were only 9 pts. away from being undefeated for a second straight year. Good Luck to Green Co. and put to rest all those who are doubters. :thumb:
  21. Come on people, we are losing our minds here. Metcalfe is not even a 1/10th of what they were last season. Bardstown Tigers will roll in this one. I don't even see Metcalfe Co. scoring. My prediction is 48-0. :thumb:
  22. Thanks for all the support SEMPERFIFALCON. I'd hate to see what you would say about us if we weren't a fellow district team.
  23. On behalf of myself and the rest of the Green Co. coaching staff, our hearts and prayers go out to the Burton family and the Russell Co. football team.
