  1. I have seen both teams play up close and personal. I will say that both teams have high powered offenses but LCA's defense is questionable. The Adams kid from Hazard will run all over them if they are not careful. I know LCA will have a slight advantage with it being in Lexington but I think Hazard gets a win here. Close game throughout but Hazard pulls it out in the end 49-41 :thumb:
  2. 7: Highlands 5: Green Co. 3: DuPont Manual 2: Lou. DeSales 1: Southern TB: Highlands
  3. Last season was similiar situations between the two teams. Green Co. was 9-0 and Marion Co. was 8-1 and the Dragons traveled to Marion where they defeated the Knights by a score of 35-6. Will this repeat in 2008? :thumb:
  4. 4A Marion County Knights (7-2) travel to Dragon Stadium to face 2A Green County Dragons (8-1) this Friday Night. Marion is coming off a last second win over Anderson County while the Dragons are coming off a bye week. This is SENIOR NIGHT and Green County has a group of seniors who has been responsible for turning this program around. 1-9 as freshmen to 19-2 the past two seasons as junior/seniors. What are the predictions on this one? Who wins it? :thumb:
  5. If this were the case, you would see many programs "water down" their schedule just to make themselves eligible for the playoffs. CUPCAKE CITY ! :thumb:
  6. I understand that any team can be beaten. The intentions of this thread was to discuss who (out of the teams listed) could give them the biggest threat. I personally think Region 1 and Region 2 are really strong and the state champion will come from one of these two. NCC is a traditional program who seem to walk out every year and play for a state title. How would they fair if they were in Region 1 and Region 2? I certainly think it would be a different story due to the physicallity of these two regions. Its only an opinion. :thumb:
  7. Don't sleep on the Green County Dragons in Region 2. After the loss to Monroe last week, they seem to have refocused in practice and could be very dangerous come playoff time. Good Luck to All...should be interesting!
  8. Ft. Campbell looks like there primed to make another trip to Papa Johns. Which team in the playoffs will give them the biggest threat of getting beat? :thumb:
  9. Green Co. has lost two senior starters for the remainder of the season: TB Zeth Rogers; torn ACL. (Class 2A states leading scorer and 1200 yard rusher) and OG/DT Mike Gibson; neck injury. The Dragons must revamp and move on. I think the loss to Monroe Co. will relight the fire for this squad. Good Luck to All in Class 2A District 3 :thumb:
  10. To all those who continue to beat a dead horse here...I will gladly feed on my crow...however, you are proving nothing by rubbing my face in it. The game was really close and I will not make excuses. We Lost and were beaten by a Monroe Co. squad that is vastly improved. I am not going to set and sulk and cry because our season here at Green Co. is far from over. These two teams were very even on Friday and could probably play each other 10 times and the games be 5-5. Monroe Co. congrats on your district title but don't boast too long for when the playoffs begin, its one at a time. We may see each other once again therefore, things could be a little different. Just ask last seasons Green Co. and Glasgow teams that defeated Metcalfe Co. and then was bounced dramatically in the playoffs. You are a good team, well coached team, and a team that will be hard to reckon with...however, you have won nothing of any significance yet. GOOD Luck! The Dragons will regroup and be a force as well. I would not want to be the next couple of teams that they face. Good Luck to All and Congratulations! :thumb:
  11. Bragging Rights...thats a deal! As far as seating, well I have just about as good a seat as you can get. Only better is actually playing yourself. I too hope the rain holds off long enough because I would truly like to see a packed house for a great high school football game. Good Luck My Friend ! :thumb:
  12. Hey TSYOUNG....culture shock? I highly doubt that. I just hope the Falcons are not basing their whole season on this game because I would hate to see them fall apart for a playoff run. Everybody wants to beat GREEN. I take that as a compliment. However, to say we are only one dimentional and only have two backs, well thats where we've got you all fooled. I hope there is a big turn out in fans on both sides and just to let you know, I saved you a seat....right behind the big tree on the hill. Hope you get to see the game! :jump:
  13. Donovan Burton is a freshman TB and OLB for the (8-0) #4 Green County Dragons in Class 2A. He is currently the second leading tackler on defense with 68 tackles and also has over 200 yards rushing on just 15 or so carries. Nice speed and a hard nosed runner who will flat hit you in the mouth !
  14. I would like to think it favors the Dragons since Monroe throws the ball a little more than the Dragons do...however the Dragons can throw the football, they have just been in situations they didn't have to. When a team is averaging about 9 yards a carry, why throw it? The Dragons have played well in the wet slopping rain situations over the past few years with these guys. Just ask Fort Knox in 2006 in some of the worst conditions ever. :thumb:
  15. Listen, we could go at this for days. I believe you are underestimating Green Co. as well. All I know is when the final buzzer sounds at Dragon stadium on Friday night, one team will be district champs and the other will hang their heads in defeat. The team that wins will have to earn it. I really don't like excuses because that is what will be given. Preparing for teams like this is really what makes me enjoy coaching. See ya Friday! :thumb:
  16. Fort Campbell 52 Owensboro Cath. 14 OC no match for the mighty Falcons! :thumb:
  17. This game will not be as close as everyone thinks. The Dragons are in a different league then anyone else in this district. This team has a destiny and thats to be playing in December at Papa Johns. :thumb:
  18. I am not trash talking, me and SEMPERFIFALCON has become arch rivals on here the past couple of weeks. Besides, if he is anything like his brother-n-law, he's a pretty good fella. I just like to talk football and when I talk, I will throw numbers at ya. This is all in fun because neither one of us actually plays the game. I do help in the preparation but I don't take a snap myself. :thumb:
  19. Seems like you are really confident considering the Falcons have only scored 1 TD in the last 8 quarters against the Dragons. The Dragon defense has pitched back to back shutouts and the offense is averaging around 50 pts. a game. I won't give my prediction, I will just say, "Buckle your chin strap, you're gonna get hit!" :thumb:
  20. Hey SEMPERFIFALCON ! I know this may not mean much but I would like to ask your opinion on something. Last season the Dragons defeated the Falcons twice by a combined score of 101-6 (53-6 at Monroe, and 48-0 at Green). Both of these teams return the nucleus of the players off those teams. I know Monroe Co. is much improved from last season but do you think that they are 7 touchdowns improved? I believe Monroe's biggest challenge has been Greenwood (a game they lost 35-21). The Dragons have faced teams in preseason like Lexington Christian, Ballard, and in season against Hazard, Washington Co., and a underated Christian Academy-Louisville. I believe the Dragons have really been under the fire and know what its like to win a close battle. I can't really say that for Monroe Co. I am by no means trying to disrespect the Falcons. I have the utmost respect for their coaches, players, and people of the Tompkinsville community. This friday night will be a good one and everyone will get their moneys worth. These type of games is why we love friday nights in October here in Kentucky. Good luck to both teams and I really hope they both escape the injury bug that sometimes sneaks upon us...see ya at the game SEMPERFIFALCON !
  21. The Class 2A #8 Monroe County Falcons (6-1) travel to face the #4 Green County Dragons (8-0) in a game for the District 3 Championship. Both teams suffer injuries to their starting tailbacks and things are shaping up to be a great game. What is everyones predictions and thoughts on this one. :thumb:
  22. Game 1: Calloway County Game 2: Christian County Game 3: South Laurel Game 4: Middlesboro Game 5: Lexington Christian Academy
  23. The Green County Dragons take their 7-0 record on the road up north to Christian Academy of Louisville. Who wins this one and why? I personally think the Dragons have way too much for the Centurions! :thumb:
  24. 7: Highlands 5: Frankfort 3: Danville 2: Bryan Station 1: Rockcastle County TB: Frankfort
  25. 5: Bryan Station 3: Boyle County 3: Bell County 1: Breathitt County 1: North Bullitt 1: Mayfield 1: South Laurel 1: Highlands 1: Ryle 1: Daviess County TB: 56 pts.
