  1. A no contest...Falcons wins this one by as many as they like. This is Monroe's last tune-up before the real season begins. Falcons 56, Hornets 0
  2. Come on guys !!! Somerset wins this one in a laugher. Briarjumpers 52, Rebels 7
  3. 7: Bell County 5: Knox Central 3: Belfry 2: Lexington Christian 1: Lynn Camp TB: Bell County
  4. 7: Owensboro Catholic 5: Allen Co.-Scottsville 3: Christian County 2: Bowling Green 1: Marshall County TB: Owensboro Catholic
  5. Who said anything about Green County? They have played a tough schedule with playing (2) 4A teams and (2) 3A teams so far. Noone said anything that getting to a regional title game and losing is enough. The fact about the Green/Monroe game last year was that ONE player took over the game. That one player is at WKU now and I am sure is missed in Thompkinsville. This is not a thread to be a Green/Monroe argument so don't turn it that direction. I was simply stating that Monroe's schedule so far has been horid. Wayne, Barren, and Logan are average to weaker teams in their class and Edmonson is a typical 3A team. In my opinion, 3A is the weakest of the six classes. Then you add Metcalfe and Adair which may be the worst teams in their respective classes. The last four games will tell the tale for the Falcons. My statement was simply asking what goes through the minds of athletes if they drop 4 or 3 of 4 before the beginning of the playoffs?
  6. I agree TSYoung, depth does help play a major role when district games come around. However, in my opinion it does help to play stronger competition when preparing for the athletes and physicality that Class 2A District 3 holds. Playing up classes give teams the opportunity to see a different variety of athletes. Some are big, some are fast, some quick, and some just all out better. This plays dividends when the playoffs come around. Winning this district is tough and even tougher winning the region. It should turn out to be quite interesting between 3 teams and in the region, 3-5 teams. District play starts next week...good luck to all !!!
  7. Glasgow will defeat Bardstown by 3 or more touchdowns. I've seen both teams and this is a no brainer.
  8. Monroe County will win this game and continue their flawless record with a subpar schedule. Not sure the teams they have played thus far will prepare them for the district they are in. Glasgow and Green County is by far better than anyone they have played already. They too would be undefeated with this schedule. The last four games for Monroe will help to prepare them for the playoffs but may be lucky if those four games doesn't turn into losses. What will it do to the team if they start out 6-0 and end up 6-4 right before the most important time of the year?
  9. 7: Collins 5: Western 3: Spencer County 2: Holy Cross (Lou.) 1: Oldham County TB: Collins
  10. 7: Conner 5: Bishop Brossart 3: Shawnee 2: Grant County 1: Simon Kenton TB: Conner
  11. 5: John Hardin 3: Highlands 3: Bell County 1: Belfry 1: Lexington Christian 1: Seneca 1: Casey County 1: Fairview 1: N. Hardin 1: Allen Co-Scottsville TB: 65
  12. 7: GRC 5: Harrison County 3: Russell County 2: Franklin County 1: Simon Kenton TB: GRC
  13. You guys continue to take your cheap shots at Green County and Griff. Don't count these guys out and hand the title to MC yet. Green and Glasgow will both have something to say about that soon enough. The Dragons are a team that have graduated 50 seniors in past 3 seasons and this team is still trying to find its "identity." They play a pretty tough schedule and still have not played a team in Class 2A yet. Their 3 backs are good and all three are juniors so Green County will not go away quietly over the next couple years.
  14. Bell County by 3-4 touchdowns. This team will finish 15-0 and win another State Title for Log Mountain !!!
  15. I knew Danville was much improved on defense but didn't think they had what it took to knock off Somerset. I saw a few games last season that Danville played and the defense was pitiful. I am glad they are headed in the right direction but knew this wasn't a one year fix. So as I see it now, the Class 2A is wide open for several teams. Will be interesting later in the year to see some of the districts and how they turn out and possible playoff matchups.
  16. I am going to give the edge to Fort Campbell. This team may be better than most realize. I do believe Fort Knox has improved and know some of the Knox players but the Falcons will roll over the Eagles on this night. FC - 42, FK - 14
  17. "Kendall seems scared to run up the middle I dont think ive seen him gain any yards on Edmonson or Wayne CO up the middle?" I have seen several Monroe County games and not sure I've ever seen him want to run up the middle. He is a "on the corner" type of guy. He has some speed but definantly not as fast as those in Thompkinsville think all the time. The kid runs track as well, so I've seen what he has against guys in his own district. The Whitlow kid from Glasgow, the Burton kid from Green Co., and the Cape kid from Cumberland all left him in the dust. Don't get me wrong, Kendall is a fine young man and a good football player. At times though, he's a non factor.
  18. What is the thought behind your quote "Green has a way to go to get back to the level they have been in the last three years." Have you seen this team play? The three backs are as good as any 3 tandum they've had the past three years. The passing game is much improved and the cubbord is not bare in Green County. The freshman class is really good and the 8th grade class behind them is good as well. Not to mention that all three backs are Juniors. So not sure how you justify your statement.
  19. I too believe this will be a close game but I have to go with the Briarjumpers. I am not exactly drinking the Danville Kool-aid just yet. Last time I saw them perform, they took a schlacking by Green County 60-22 in the playoffs last season. They win this game over Somerset, then I'll be on board. Either way, great ballgame and it's exactly what high school football is all about. Good Luck to both teams !!!
  20. 5: Somerset 3: George Rogers Clark 3: Fort Campbell 1: Lexington Catholic 1: Henry Clay 1: Western 1: Carroll County 1: Grayson County 1: Corbin 1: Belfry TB: 60 pts.
  21. I am going out on a limb and say this game is somewhat closer than most would think. Don't get me wrong, Monroe County will win this ballgame but I am going to say the final score will be 28-20. Falcons stay undefeated and will continue a few more weeks on their subpar schedule. Franklin-Simpson, Green County, Glasgow, and Allen County-Scottsville await the second half of the season.
  22. 7: Betsy Lane 5: Fairview 3: Greenup County 2: Lewis County 1: Allen Central TB: Fairview
  23. This explains why some of the small schools do not get votes. For example, Class 2A Green County was BGPs #6 team at preseason. After a lopsided loss to 4A Power Bell County (61-12). They since have dropped out of the Top 10 in both the BGP and AP polls. They have since played up to class 3A versus Taylor County (56-6) and Butler County (52-20). These lopsided wins still have not helped them breach the Top 10. This week they play another 4A school in Larue County. Not once have they played a 2A school yet. Similiar situations with other teams that are in the Top 10. This leads me to this question, Does the fact that many of these AP voters do not personally see them play lead to the reason that it is so tough to get votes? Please give your opinion and keep it clean.
  24. This was an outstanding football game by both teams. Boise St. earned my respect and I feel they are deserving of the #3 ranking. If they run the table, then they deserve a shot at a National Title. The quarterback Kellen Moore is the real deal and should be considered as a Heisman candidate. I had no dog in this fight and enjoy a well played game by both teams. From what I seen by Virginia Tech, they are better than their #10 ranking.
