  2. What is your definition of soundly? I am certain that this years JV game was 20-14. I will also say that Green Co. plays alot of players (especially younger) on Varsity and many times doesn't let them play JV so I wouldn't claim yourself District champs yet. Glasgow is another program that is back to its prominence and will continue to field really good teams under Coach Woods. In my opionion, this district would be much tougher for Somerset. Trust me, these aren't teams like Taylor, Wayne, Jackson, and Casey you are playing now.
  3. I will say this after seeing them. I don't see any team in Class 2A more athletic than Glasgow. They definitely pass the look test !!! To be questioning their ranking is crazy. In my opinion, they should be in the top 5 at least. Their is 3 teams in that Class 2A, District 3 that should be ranked in the Top 10. I personally think that top to bottom, its the best district in 2A
  4. TSYOUNG and SEMPERFIFALCON you will probably fall off your stump when I make this statement but here goes; "Monroe County will win this game by 14 pts. and continue their unblemished record." I personally do not think the Falcons will reach their true test until they play Glasgow, Green County, and Allen County-Scottsville. Those three games could be very tough for the Falcons and will have to be greatly prepared. I just have a funny feeling that Franklin-Simpson is not the true test they are looking for at this point. Monroe Co. 28, Franklin-Simpson 14
  5. BELL is FOR REAL and in my opinion, will win Class 4A State Championship
  6. Rumor has it that Somerset may be joining a district with the likes of Green County, Glasgow, Metcalfe County. What are your thoughts on this type of district?
  7. Somerset by a hundred if they want too. A total mismatch. Briarjumpers walk in this district !!!
  8. The game started off with Green stopping the Glasgow offense and forcing a punt. The punt was muffed and recovered by the Scotties and totally turned the momentum. Glasgow was able to stick it in and go up first. The Dragons respond on offense by scoring on second offensive snap. Glasgow big played the Dragons in the first half and went in up 28-14. The second half started off with the Dragons putting together a 70 yard drive and scoring but missing the extra point kick. Making the score 28-20. The Scotties respond on a 4th down play as the quarterback played pretty well and put the score at 35-20. Once again the Dragons put a drive together and score again. This time they were able to capitalize on the 2 pt. play thus making the score 35-28. The Dragon defense steps it up and gets a stop giving the ball back to the Dragon offense. They drive the ball all the way down the field to the 7 yard line and fumble. Glasgow tries to give themselves room and push it out but the Dragon defense forces a fumble. As the Dragons take the ball on first down, the quarterback breaks loose and scores. The score is now 35-34. The Dragon offense lines up and decides to go for the win. As the ball is snapped, the Scotties call timeout and nullify the play. After timeout, the Dragons run a play and the Scotties defense is able to tackle the Dragon quarterback on the 1 yard line. The Dragons onside kick but the Scotties recover. With only one timeout left, the Scotties kneel on the ball running out the clock. One of the best high school football games (especially second half) that I have been involved with. It was a slobber knocker !!! Hard hitting, great runs, great throws, and all the excitement that you would ever want. Great Job by both teams and when playoffs come around, I would not want to play either of these teams.
  9. To me, this is the biggest surprise of the week. Big win for the Commanders !!!
  10. TSYoung, I appreciate what you just said and I too agree with many of your statements. I am not certain who you think I am but I do know the coach you are referring too and he is very much involved in our programs. Green, Glasgow, and Monore are all very good football teams and I feel that whoever wins our district/region will be eventual 2A state champions. I hope I am correct in that assumption because this district has been really tough and deserving over the past few years. Good Luck to you at Metcalfe and we will see you in a few weeks !
  11. Why does this quote not surprise me TSYOUNG. I have not seen you say much of anything NICE about the Dragons program for a couple years now. I understand its a rivalry but we are adults and there comes a time where you give respect where respect is due. The Dragons and the coaches come prepared for every game and I am pretty certain that over the past 3 years, the series between the Dragons and the Falcons is tied 3-3. I also know for a fact the Dragons won the district last season then lost to the Falcons in the region. So to have the feeling that either program is better than the other is mere biased. These are all young adults that we talk about often and we forget they are enjoying the time of their lives with playing high school football..an opportunity we would all give our left leg just to take one more snap. Good Luck to the Falcons friday and Good Luck to the Dragons. It will all be settled in a few weeks and if your team wins or loses, both programs will suit it all up again the next season with the same goals in mind.
  12. I am not certain but I believe in was due to only having 10 freshmen. One freshmen has broken his arm/hand and not sure if he is playing. Several of the sophomores play varsity therefore he did not want to send them in place of freshmen. Please know the facts before you decide to throw stones at a coach who always puts his players first. Don't judge by what you see all the time because the Dragon players are well taken care of by the coaching staff and they seem to have a great "family" bond. Pretty good group of fellas. Freshmen games are mainly for development and I know by watching the Dragons play, they play all of their freshmen in JV games. Some of them have even gotten some varsity playing time. Green County believes in two platooning so they try to develop the players early and often. So as you see, sometimes playing in 3 games a week is too much for anyone. Also it may be good they did not play, I saw the JV play on Monday against Taylor County with only 16 players and won 54-8. It was ugly !!! Green County's talent is there and they will continue to win games for quite a while.
  13. 7: Morgan County 5: Lewis County 3: West Carter 2: South Laurel 1: Hazard TB: Morgan County
  14. I have all respect for the Falcon football team and Coach John Pettet; however, I feel that your #2 ranking is solely based on your success last season. To be named #2 overall in the class playing Wayne, Edmonson, Adair, Logan, Barren, and now Metcalfe doesn't have me totally convinced. Many teams would be undefeated through week 6 (and yes it will be through week 6 because Metcalfe game will be over in the 1st qtr.) with that type of scheduling. Don't get me wrong, I know the Falcons are a good football team...a team that is well coached and comes prepared to play but I feel as if they may be slightly down from past two seasons. Monroe Co's last 4 football games will give us all a better judgement of exactly how good this team is, but to say you are #2 at this point is tough for me to swallow. NO HARM, NO FOUL !!!
  15. Hearsay, I am not sure your beef with Griff; however, I will share some facts. YES we did graduate 14 seniors last year. A few good ball players and a couple first year players. This season, we have 8 seniors and 12 juniors (20 upperclassmen) Our starting quarterback is a Junior who played tailback last season. As far as the Larue game, Larue is always matchup problems with the Dragons and on that night the conditions did not play in Green's favor. This team is getting better each week and knows how important this game is for the district hunt. As far as the Bell County comment, we played Bell County this season and last season played Middlesboro in the City/County Bowl. Bell is very good, no doubt. In my opinion, they will be eventual 4A state champions. All in all, if you want to see a good football game, visit Glasgow vs. Green County this Friday night.
  16. 7: Columbus (OH) Bishop Ready 5: Boone County 3: Bishop Brossart 2: Newport Central Catholic 1: Newport TB: Columbus (OH) Bishop Ready
  17. No Harm, No Foul. No doubt Parrish is a good player. Both teams will have their hands full because of the talent on these teams. Glasgow is athletic, big, and fast. Green Co. is fast and very hard-nosed. The past three years, what has separated these two teams has been the physicality of the Dragon squad. This is the first district game and I personally think the winner of this game will win this district. This could be the type of ballgame that the team with the least turnovers WINS.
  18. 7: Ballard 5: Moore 3: Gallatin County 2: Owensboro Catholic 1: Lynn Camp TB: Owensboro Catholic
  19. 5: Lafayette 3: Boyle County 3: Southwestern 1: Hopkinsville 1: George Rogers Clark 1: Hazard 1: Lexington Catholic 1: Newport Central Catholic 1: Tates Creek 1: Owensboro Catholic TB: 56
  20. 7: Somerset 5: Tates Creek 3: Lex. Catholic 2: Lafayette 1: Wayne County TB: Somerset
  21. I believe all listed but Washington County will stay undefeated. Marion County will have their way with Washington Co. Knights 48, Commanders 12
  22. Green County had to replace ONE starting offensive lineman from last years team. The past two seasons, Green County has been able to keep Tavion Parrish in check. The past three years the Dragons have outscored Glasgow 112-35. Rick Wood was the Scotties coach last season when the Dragons defeated the Scotties 34-14. This team loves all the disrespect they get from all the polsters. Keep counting these guys out and they just may slip up and win the district.
  23. Since these two were put into same district in 2007, Dragons have defeated Glasgow 3 straight years. (2007) 34-7, (2008) 44-14, and (2009) 34-14. However, Glasgow leads the overall series.
  24. I done some research and compared the two teams so far in the 2010 season. Casey County is 4-1 with their major comparison being a 1 point loss to undefeated Perry County Central. However, this was first game of the year. The combined record of the teams Casey has played is 9-13 with two wins over teams like Bourbon County (0-4) and Clinton County (0-5). Somerset is 5-0 with their biggest win being over Danville. The combined recored of the teams Somerset has played is 9-14 with Danville having the best record at 3-2. This probably does not mean alot because Casey County is not ready for the type of team they will see in Somerset. Many say the game will be alot closer than last year and I really don't agree. Are we settling just for a closer score? Briarjumpers just too much for the Rebels and I will stick to my score of 52-7...sorry Rebel fans !
  25. District action opens up this week in Class 2A, District 3 with a very interesting matchup between Glasgow and Green County. Who wins this game and why?
