5 point game early in the 3rd before a couple of big runs. Foul trouble plagued the girls in green...Riddle played less than 10 minutes, Brockman about 20 minutes. All 5 starters in double figures.

OK...what's the call here? Player A jumps in the air, saves a loose ball to a teammate, and lands OOB. He gets both feet back in bounds and takes a pass from his teammate and scores. Violation?

My answer to that is I can't remember many winless teams in basketball.

Let's face it....the likelihood of an upset in basketball is MUCH MORE LIKELY than in football. Some (a lot!) teams have no shot at a post season win in football.

How about this....how about we only play 9 football games and cut out the teams that make the playoffs with 4 wins or less? It's a joke. Some districts have every team making the playoffs. And, Kentucky has always been a basketball state, so the argument that we play more basketball won't hold water. As far as Simon Kenton goes, it's the exception rather that the rule. It's going to end up like the NBA where you play until June.

Rowan returns only Duff with any varsity experience. Ginter played very little varsity last year, and neither did Morrison. After that, Rowan plays one freshman starter, and freshmen and sophomores off the bench. Stafford hasn't played in 2 years and Hunter has had 3 knee surgeries in less than 2 years. Point being, Rowan is as young as anybody in the region in terms of experience.

I'm here to tell you, this is "not your mother's Menifee". Anybody that doesn't come ready to play is in for a long night against this bunch. They will get after you, and they're well coached. Rowan lost Ginter, who was averaging 21 ppg, in the 1st quarter. Coach Thacker will get his bunch back on track, but Menifee was impressive.

Tates Creek ( I think) gave em a pretty good one the other night in the Commodore classic.

As was Rowan. Morrison who nearly had a double/double against Fleming, was out for disciplinary reasons. Don't know Raceland's numbers, but it wasn't quite that bad for RC. 15 TO's, 46% from the field. Ginter had 25, junior Cody Hunter, coming off 3 knee surgeries in 2 yrs., had 13 and 10. Raceland shot it well from the FT line (21/27) or it could have been even uglier.

It's called "bring them along" or "developing the young talent". Wouldn't be very smart to throw them in a varsity game to get physically beaten up by a physical FC team. As far as the preview argument goes, there was no reason to assume that a senior and a junior would get 23 and 18 pts. respectively in a varsity game. One had never scored that many in a JV game.

33-31 in rebounds; that's not exactly getting dominated. But they did get outshot, outhustled, and out coached, IMO.

I think you'll find as the season progresses, many sophs and freshman will join the rotation. Morrison and Duff will be starters all year long...maybe Sargent at the point when he gets more practice time. When Cross' ankle heals he'll be in the rotation, playing big minutes, and he's a sophomore. One of the seniors that started last night has been away from the game for a couple of years. I think if some of you will look at the roster, its underclassman heavy (freshmen and sophomores).

West Carter (yes, West Carter) had them down 9 or 10 after 3 quarters at the Jack Fultz Classic Saturday, then Webb put his 8th graders, freshmen, and lower level sophs. Outside of Williams, I didn't see a "big-time" player or any "big-time", standout potential. East Carter will be good for the next couple of years, as will Rose Hill. I appreciate the optimism/enthusiasm, but everybody's optimistic/enthusiastic this time of year.

East will win the 16th in 09-10. Mark it down.:sssh:
