Morgan County loses a top notch player and big time shooter in Lara Hembree who went down last week with a torn ACL. She will have surgery in December and miss 6-9 months. Hembree, a Junior, should return next season. As a sophomore, Hembree connected on 40% of her three point attempts and made 5 three's in a game at least 3 times.

I know what the young lady is going through. With hard work and dedication she will be back in no time. I had ACL surgery in April.

Lara can shoot it like her father (Keith) could. If only there was a 3 point line in 1986! His pull up jumpers from beyond the top of the key were automatic. Lara was automatic last year as a sophomore, drilling 3 after 3. She is on the bench and helping the team in other aspects and kind of a student-assistant coach. Please give her all the encouragement, she tore the ACL, MCL, and Meniscus. Surgery is scheduled somewhere around Dec. 10th.

Thoughts are with her! My daughter had ACL reconstruction last Feb, returned to basketball/soccer full force this fall. She planted her foot in a hole on the soccer field & tore her ACL again, a partial on the MCL & a meniscus tear. She is playing her senior season of basketball braced with no ACL. Her surgeons told her her circumstances allow her to do so & she has their full support. She will do reconstruction again in the spring. Although not many would be able to do what my daughter is doing now, she is able to in part because of the first rehab. Her knee is stable & quads are very strong. It is however the hardest thing she has ever done, more so mentally than physically.

 

Tell Lara as long as she dedicates herself to rehab fully, no slacking, she will be back much stronger than before!
