I agree the girls did win with grace and class; however, I was talking about the EC girls doing the same. It makes it hard to root for a team that obviously plays the game with passion when the fans are in the stands cursing an ranting like a drunk hillbilly. That's what makes it hard for someone OTHER than an Elliott Countian to root for the team. Capish?

You're dissing the 16th, but I believe they whacked 2 pretty high profile 10th region programs this year; one in a scrimmage and one in Sandy Hook.:sssh:

Makes it hard to root for a team that obviously plays with a lot of guts. Always a reason for losing, always shouting at the officials over every call, some even shouted obscenities after the game towards the RC bench. The parents could take a lesson from some of the girls, who were very classy after the game according to the Lady Viking players.

It's Ok....I'm sure Martin is happy to be on the bus ready to roll to Diddle. As far as the "poor old Elliott County" posts on here....let's face it. They had a great year and had a lot of firsts. But their road to the finals was not exactly a minefield. Two teams at or below .500. So the numbers concerning MVP may be skewed a little. Concerning the excuses for losing and the officials...it's ok too, because lots of people need to place blame when they don't succeed. And, BTW, the Elliott County fans are really something....

Every team has an "MVP"; the MVP of the tournament usually leads his/her team to a championship. Martin did that by averaging nearly 18 pts, 7 reb, and 4 assists. I'm glad she plays for RC. Griffith was a very good player; however, she ended 6-19 from the field. She had one great quarter in the finals. But as the EC coach said in the paper "it wasn't defense; we PICKED a bad night to shoot poorly". Believe I would have "picked" a different night than the region finals.

In 2005 ( I think ) a 10-15 ( I think ) West Carter team beat a 22-3 ( I think ) Morgan County team at Morgan County. Blake McCowan was a senior at Morgan and Casey Jones was WC's best player. Jones hit a jumper with seconds left to win it. That was a 62nd district game.

Many times coaches, especially with teams that may not have experience in the post season, will continue to work on things during blowouts. Don't know that this is the case, but she has the right to play whoever she wants for as long as she wants to prepare for the next tourney game. People get caught up in the score, and many times there is more to it than just being considered a poor sport by beating someone soundly. I was never a fan of that "clearing the bench" argument when it comes to the post season. Lots of coaches stick to their rotation patterns and the experience they gain in game situations is much more valuable than any thing that can be simulated in practice.

I wasn't trying to start a rumor or anything; I just know that the expectation level is (was?) high at Ashland, and they have a way of "removing" coaches when mediocrity rears its head.

Ethan, Evan, and Johnathan are grat kids with a passion for the game. Very enjoyable to watch (unless they are playing your team!). Unbelievable accomplishment for Ferguson; good luck at the next level!

She played 20+ minutes and was 0-12. Very nice player and a good, well mannered kid. Nobody from RC played more than 19 minutes.

It was 58-55 with less than 3 minutes to play. RC had an open look at a 3 and didn't convert, and I believe Thompson hit a 3 to go up 6; RC missed a close look on the next trip and Webb scored to go up 8. RC gave a couple of fouls late to set the final score. Closely contested game between two good teams.

Really? Bath against Fairview, who do you take? Menifee against Rose Hill? RC just beat Ashland, and Fleming would take out Boyd. Rose Hill is the only team, IMO, that could consistently beat any of the 61st teams. I think overall the 61st is stronger.
