  1. Shouldn't his avatar at least be "blue7"?
  2. I believe the saying goes "If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best."
  3. CovCath proved they could lose to excellent teams like Elder and LaSalle by 4TDs. If you want to say that gives an advantage to CovCath have at it, but I just don't see it. Regardless of scheduling, I believe both teams have improved since their earlier meeting and I expect a very competitive game.

On two consecutive possession in the 4th quarter Ryle's first (or maybe second) pass attempt of that possession resulted in a Dixie interception. Dixie then proceeded to keep the ball on the ground eating up the clock and eventually scoring. The end result was that Ryle ran very few plays run or pass in the entire 4th quarter. For the entire 1st half and most of the 3rd quarter the game was close so Ryle probably didn't feel the need to pass.
  5. I'd like to see Dixie do a better job of tackling and stopping the run. Ryle should give Dixie to opportunity to work on both.
  6. I couldn't disagree more. The more a skill does not come naturally, the more practice that is required to master it. You must practice if you expect to be successful hitting a baseball. I know plenty of kids who were successful football players who never played until they were in highschool. I couldn't name a single kid who never picked up a bat before highschool who even made the team.
  7. QB - Elliot (Beechwood) RB - Farris (Boone Co) RB - Bankamper (Beechwood) WR - Detmer (Dixie) ATH - Cecil (Highlands) K - Bathiany (Highlands) P - Jett (Dixie)
  8. I was looking downfield also.
  9. Isn't this the opposite of what is supposed to happen after the game? Isn't the team that got their butt kicked supposed to complain about the refs?
  10. On two occasions the ball was in the air when Highlands' DB/LB's made significant contact with the Dixie WR. They were both obvious calls. On another occaison the Highlands DB was beaten, had his back to the play and simply put both of his hands in EJ's face in desperation, another obvious call. Some of the calls were made very late. One ref literally was having a problem getting the flag out of his back pocket and that was the reason they were late.
  11. It was a good game for a half then Highlands blew it open in the 3rd quarter. I thought Bricking and Detmer played well for Dixie but Dixie's defense simply could not stop Highlands.
  12. I'm going from memory and I don't remember all the scores but I think this is right: 1999 - Dixie (big) 2000 - CovCath 2001 - CovCath 2002 - Dixie (big) 2003 - Dixie (by 1 in OT) 2004 - Dixie (by 7) 2005 - CovCath (big) 2006 - CovCath
  13. Conner is "that team from Covington"? Sounds like JC's coach is better at coaching football than he is at geography. Anyway, impressive win by JC!
  14. Spritzky has probably passed it on already!
  15. On two occaisons that I saw it appeared to be mechanics. It appeared to me that on those two occaisons he saw that the receiver was open and he rushed his throw. His arm was ahead of his feet and he didn't really step into the throw they way he should have. Also, relative to playing on Saturday morning, the superintendent told them they could not play on Friday night and they couldn't play Saturday night at Dixie because they already had a soccer game scheduled at that time. Saturday morning was the best time that was available.
  16. I agree. Ben is a good player who should get even better. I'll add Soph Austin Johnson for Campbell Co and Soph Miles Simpson for Simon Kenton to the list.
  17. The 2007 Ryle Raiders should rightly be proud of their accomplishments.:thumb:
  18. Shelby lost 9 games in a row prior to districts and since then they have won 7 of 8. My question for Shelby fans is: Can you point to any one reason for the turn-around? What are they doing now that they weren't doing during the losing streak?
  19. Any idea what the pitching matchup will be? I like Ryle's chances.
  20. CovCath 6 Ryle 5 Bottom of the 7th. Nobody out. Runners on first and second.
  21. 22. How many kids do they have in the baseball program this year? How many players did they cut? I'm guessing they kept 15+ players on varsity , 15 more on JV, and 15 on the frosh team. 45 players doesn't seem like small numbers to me. Sure there are some kids who could have come out and didn't but I would prefer to focus on the 40+ kids who are on the team.
  23. Final : Dixie 2 Highlands 1 (8 innings) Nichols went all 8 for Dixie. The game was scoreless until the 6th. Dixie scored the winning run in the botton of the 8th on a two out based-loaded single.
  24. Also, not sure what Dixie's 2003 record was but I am sure they played more games than 21 games. I would guess that they won one or two more games and lost four or five more than the given 6-15 record indicates.
