Best game of the day, and Dixie should have won it in regulation except for the Right Fielder dropping a easy third out fly ball....

Both teams I swear tried to give the other team the game in the extra innings by not executing bunts or poor base running. Dixie pitcher Nichols pitch and hit Dixie to this victory. HHS could didn't execute plays with men in scoring position but I have to give Dixie's pitcher reason for HHS not getting the job done. Why with Allen on first with no outs don't they steal then bunt him over to third so the winning run is on third with only 1 out was beyond me in I think the top of the seventh or eight.

Who does Dixie pitch tomorrow against CovCath? My guess is either Nutini or Neihaus will go for CovCath. Again outstanding game by Nickols (sp) of Dixie.....

Was Allen okay today? Taking him out after pitching only two innings was I think the turning point in the game for Dixie....

Taking Allen out was the turning point? Didn't the next pitcher come in and hold them hitless?

Using 3 pitchers was the game plan for Highlands today. Perhaps they should have stuck with Allen and rolled the dice with their 2 and 3 guys tomorrow but it's easy to second guess when you know the outcome. Nichoales composed himself well after the error and got the job done.

The HHS plan was to have the pitchers available, especially Allen, for all 3 games. IMO their opinion was if they could not beat Dixie, they were not going to win the region anyway.

Even the last pitcher pitched pretty well. The first run he gave up was on a ball 4 that was 50/50 and a hit that barely made it to the outfield grass. He pitched well.

HHS lost because they could not hit and took a chance when Allen led off the 6th (or 7th?) and did not bunt him over. It didn't work. They lost.

I'll be the first to admit not giving Dixie any kudos. Great game for them though. Not a fan of the coaching for them (and haven't been for many years) but a good win today. Congrats!!!!!!!:thumb:

Despite a tiny bit of sloppiness on both sides, this was an excellent game to watch. Nail-biter til the winning run scored.

IMO you have to win the game your playing that day or you go home. Saving players to use if you move on seems to rarely work out.

I also thought that this was the best game of the day. Nichols was better than even I could have tried to advertise him after seeing him pitch in the regular season. He pitched an absolute gem!

I didn't find the game to be that sloppy with the exception of the dropped fly ball in the outfield and an errant pick off attempt. I believe that these were the only errors of the game.

All of the pitchers were on their game today and it took a chopper up the middle to win it for Dixie.

Fantastic baseball game to watch as a fan. Of course I've always been a big fan of the pitchers' duels because it makes every single play matter.

Congrats to Dixie on the win and to Highlands on a good season!

Thank you......

Allen is an outstanding pitcher, the other two are good but Allen is outstanding. Allen stays in HHS wins, and I said that prior to this game ever being played. HHS took a chance, and lost......Dixe kept there ace in and now are playing Tuesday..... Win and advance....that is the name of the game at this point in time....

I don't think you can assume they win with Allen pitching. Unless he was going to strike everyone out, there was no difference today in any of the 3 HHS threw. IMO it had zero effect on the outcome.

Allen stays in and the Dixie outfielder catches that fly ball, we are likely looking at a scoreless game through 9 innings. (isn't that when the starters have to come out of the game?)

Allen and Nichols looked virtually unhittable tonight.

Congrats to Max and his boys! Reading the other threads, no-one really gave Dixie a chance to win this one.

Its my understanding that the kid that was thrown out at 3rd in the 7th inning with Dixie attempting to bunt went on his own. He did not get a signal.
