Dixie's 8th grade catcher looked pretty solid.

Its my understanding that the kid that was thrown out at 3rd in the 7th inning with Dixie attempting to bunt went on his own. He did not get a signal.

Those are the kinds of things that will drive a coach up the wall. Luckily for Dixie (and that player!) they were able to regroup and push a run across in the bottom of the 8th!

So I'm sitting there watching this game and lo and behold, I hear someone behind me talking about independent school systems and then he mentions talking to Strike3. BGP makes the state a lot smaller.

What was his name ? Popham?

I think his last name was Miller.

Popham is CCH's third baseman and Miller is Beechwoods catcher.

Brad Popham is Dixie's 8th grade Catcher.

Brad Popham, any relation to Shane?

Yes , Brad I know goes to Dixie and is an 8th grader. He is a very good player .He can pitch and catch .Thought it may be him .

Sounds like HHS had a carryover of not hitting from the district final.

They got beat by an eighth grader versus Newport because they simply didn't hit...must have been the case today.

Taking Allen out was the turning point? Didn't the next pitcher come in and hold them hitless?

You're right. If Highlands leaves the second pitcher in the game they're playing tonight. I think he pitched three innings. No hits and two walks. Dixie was having trouble with this pitcher. Apparantly that wasn't the plan though. Good luck Dixie.

Congrats to Dixie. Good luck in the rest of the tourny.

Birds, very good season. I know it ended before you wanted it to. But as you look back on this season, each of you has a lot to be proud of, particularly the seniors. Your leadership and commitment has gone a long way in turning around baseball at Highlands. Job well done. Returning players, your mission is to now take the baseball program farther. Do not lose the momentum this year's team started. Congrats to each of you and congrats to the coaching staff.

We had nothing to lose in this game as no one but Dixie and their fans gave them a chance at winning this game. Good luck tonight boy's!

Best game of the day, and Dixie should have won it in regulation except for the Right Fielder dropping a easy third out fly ball....

Both teams I swear tried to give the other team the game in the extra innings by not executing bunts or poor base running. Dixie pitcher Nichols pitch and hit Dixie to this victory. HHS could didn't execute plays with men in scoring position but I have to give Dixie's pitcher reason for HHS not getting the job done. Why with Allen on first with no outs don't they steal then bunt him over to third so the winning run is on third with only 1 out was beyond me in I think the top of the seventh or eight.

Who does Dixie pitch tomorrow against CovCath? My guess is either Nutini or Neihaus will go for CovCath. Again outstanding game by Nickols (sp) of Dixie.....

Was Allen okay today? Taking him out after pitching only two innings was I think the turning point in the game for Dixie....

Nichols went 0 for 1 with 3 walks so while he did not hit us to victory he did however pitch us to one! We knew with Nichols we would take the first game. Good luck tonight, lets hope for the same outcome!
