It was obvious at the banquet that Coach Roesel was very proud of his 07 ball club and mentioned that they shattered most of the career records this year, but I got a copy of the stats and would like to share them.

Thought the post season went: District, Region, Semi State, State. They made it to the Last level.

 

As far as 08, I pick them to repeat as at least Regional Champs. 4 strong junior pitchers on the varsity level, a pretty good middle infield, experienced behind the plate and the Tournament Champion JV team from last year.

Sounds like high times in Union. Good for the Raiders.

 

On the State Championship appearance, I think that is misleading at best. Ryle got beat in the quarter finals of the state tournament, they did not make a state championship appearance.

Looks like "G Wagner" has some talent.

The JV Championship doesn't mean much, ask Beechwood! I do agree that Ryle will be, once again, favorite in the 9th w/CCH and Beechwood chasing! Beechwood returns all starters except the RF and CCH never rebuilds in baseball, they just reload.

My gosh, what's it take to get a scholarship in baseball? With a career like his you would think he would certainly get one. An awesome year for Ryle and looks like their poised to keep it going. Congrats.

I am also shocked that Wagner has not been given an opportunity somewhere? I know he is a little undersized, but he makes up for it in so many different ways. He was a blast to watch this year.

You have to remember that NCAA baseball teams only permitted 11.5 scholarships to split among the entire squad. Also, many schools do not fully fund the number of scholarships allowed. Making things even more difficult is a new rule where the award must be at least 30% of a full scholarship. This will greatly reduce the number of kids getting help.

Been trying to find out myself how some of the Ryle boys were doing this summer. Understand Weis is throwing well for Bluegrass but haven't heard any stats. Wags is still hitting over .500 for the Kings and made some nice plays over the middle down at WKU this weekend.
