  1. :thumb: That's what I told BlackBearDenMother last night but not as eloquent as you said it .
  2. Every week these games get better and better and the Black Bears dig down and find a way to win! We actually had some fans leave when PCC went up by 14 with a little over 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. When are they going to learn that this bunch will NOT give up?!!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper: PCC is a good football team and their QB, Amis, is tough.
  3. I would say that field condition's will be less than desirable in tonight's game as well as for most teams around our area, unless they play on turf tonight.
  4. My old friend Bill Ellis once said, "I'd rather be lucky than good any day." (If you've ever seen Bill play basketball then you'd know why.) Back to the game, senior night Friday. I'm sure the senior Black Bears want to win their last home game. This game will be played with a lot of emotion.
  5. You're not allowed to say the "B" word until after district play wideopen.
  6. :idunno: I know I'm pulling for Harlan County to win the next two games but I will never figure out who I'm supposed to be hoping wins the other games in our district. It's all very confusing. :ohbrother:
  7. The folks who stayed and weathered the rain and endured the delay, saw one heck of a football game! It truly was a shame that somebody had to lose this one. Proud of those Black Bears!:dancingpa
  8. I think Momma Larkey is in a win/win situation. How proud she must be when her men take the field! No matter the outcome of this game, the success that both are having all goes back to mom and the sacrifices that she's made as a wife and football mom. This should be one of her proudest days and I'm glad we get to enjoy it with her and her family here in Harlan County. :thumb:
  9. Every game in this district is a toss up. The Bears are undefeated at home this year. I'm thinking the Black Bear's pull one off for Ol' Dad in another nail biter!! Nice article in the Harlan Daily Enterprise about the Father/Son match up. http://www.harlandaily.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Larkeys+meet+in+father-son+matchup%20&id=3885291-Larkeys+meet+in+father-son+matchup&instance=secondary_news_left_column
  10. This game is going to be a lot of fun. I'm sure the boys on each team wants to win this one for their Coach Larkey. Both have made huge impacts at the school's they are at. I'm looking forward to Friday night!
  11. The Defense was well prepared. The offense seemed confident. This was a big win for the Black Bears and I couldn't be any prouder! :dancingpa
  12. I hope this loss really bothers the kids and they go into next week resolved to correct the mistakes that they made and win the rest of these district games. I saw some positive things last night. Cody Taylor ran HARD. He did all he could to get those extra inches. McMillian showed his speed on defense. Brewer done well at QB when called upon and made some good passes. All are Sophmores and that is promising. The defense didn't allow any two point conversions or PATS. Phillips punt the ball really well. The defense had a few mental breakdowns and it cost them. Hopefully they'll chalk this up as a learning experience and in the future use it to their advantage. Also, I didn't think they "quit" as a team, they continued to play hard as bad as it was. We sure do miss Dylon Smith. I know that he wants to be out there to help his team. He was a big play maker on both sides of the ball. Dylon would play injured if they'd let him. He's a great kid and we love him whether he plays football ever again or not. But, I sure do miss seeing him play....
  13. Great win for the Bears! They are improving every week.
  14. Congrats to Harlan. Nice win for the home crowd.
  15. Which two juniors, Smith and ? Will we be able to put any points on the board this year? I'm just not ready to hit the panic button yet. We do have experienced players out there. I think they'll find a way to score. The Bears will rebound this week and get their feet back under them.
  16. Caught the end of this game. Congrats to the jags! They are on a roll!
  17. It's not going to matter who gets the bulk of carries this year if the line doesn't hold. Southwestern's defense had their way with us I'm afraid. The coaches will review it and fix the problems I am sure.
  18. :ohbrother: I'm just gonna have to sleep on this one. One positive thing tonight.......it didn't rain.
